I could not stop smiling watching this video! LOL. I also couldn't help but thinking that in the last shot of Abigail with that maraca she was thinking in her head "Think I can't get in this... challenge accepted." Ha. Thanks for sharing.
This is lovely. So heartwarming to see two men in the family go to such trouble for their special family member. Not a lot of men would do that. Awesome guys, keep it up. You're an inspiration.
I just have this feeling that Isaiah has the tiniest bit of sarcastic humor in him. I find him hilarious. I love how wholesome this is...Just two guys crafting 😂❤️
I made the bead shaker, and I LOVE it! I have Autism as well, but i'm more high functioning. I love this RUclips channel so much! Abbie is a beautiful girl! :) :) :)
Always have a dish of cold ice water when using a glue gun. Especially if you don't have callouses on your fingers. I don't need the water anymore but when I first started crafting for special needs, omg did I burnt my hands so bad, I was popping blisters for a week! LOL love your day to day vlogging!! I just came across it today or yesterday evening. Your family is extremely lovable and great at teaching the public. I always wish I had RUclips while raising my children. My kids are all grown up now and then one that was special needs could've really benefited from his mother learning a few tricks of the trade! Thank you for sharing your lives you are helping a lot of people!!❣️🇨🇦
I love that you are completely involved with your autistic child's creativity and sensory experience...it is very awesome to see. I truly enjoy watching your interactions with your children. You have been Blessed with Wonderful children. ☺👍👼
Love your shoe. You could always add Pom poms to the bead shaker. I have made the egg shakers with kids before they are so much fun. Thank you for all you do.
I'm going to make Abbie a rainstick! She'll love it! Maybe I'll even video it for you. :) Let me know when you get the book I sent you, so I don't have to worry about it getting lost in the mail. I have very little faith in our postal system. LOL!! (And don't enter me in the giveaway. Save them for someone who has an autistic kid. I have NO kids.)
Priscilla Maass You're welcome! I hope the book opens more doors to communicating with Abbie! I'll get started on the rainstick tomorrow! Wuv you guys!
Catherine Buyck that's cool! My girlfriend is Deaf, and I've learned even more signing for her. Sign language is amazing and may even prove helpful for them! I sign when I go nonverbal.
Id like them all.these are fun and creative. You can also make a drumb out of oatmeal containers.or butter/ margerin containers as well as peanut butter/ or other content containers/ tubs.
Hi Asa and Izejha (that is me trying to spell your n@me phonetically....whoopsies! I recently discovered your channel and fell in love with your family. I became disabled in 2010 and had to quit my job as a senior systems analyst for IBM. To try to survive financially, I will occasionally nanny. Recently, a family with a 19 year old autistic son (actual age vs 4-6 year old cognitively & personality-wise). This particular DIY video is great because he loves music and I need new activities for him to engage in with me besides our normal, boring routine activities (which he loves on Fridays and hates on Saturdays?!). Please....more like this video (when you have the time, of course). And, I want to applaud you, Asa, and your beautiful wife for raising such a gentle, loving, caring son. He comes through the videos as a patient, engaged, super intelligent older brother - one who doesn't resent the extra attention his sister might get. I really dig the family dynamic and your honest. I will be binge watching all of your videos as I have found I learn something from each one - even if it is just reminding me to be more patient and engaged myself. Blessings to you and your lovely family! Hi Abbie!!!!! 😀
As someone who is autistic myself, I say be careful trying to gauge an autistic person's intelligence and or mental age. We generally don't fit normal criteria for expected things for age, or anything else for that matter, even myself who has HFA. Often communication and sensory difficulties make expressing one's self difficult, too. I know of someone who while he cannot speak anything but a few words at a time, shows very complex ideas that few neurotypicals would think of through written word. In my personal opinion, many nonverbal autistics were done a great disservice being given extensive speech training when assistive technology would be better in the long term. Effective typing is far better than mediocre speech. Thanks for taking the time to learn about autistic people like Abbie and myself. I applaud anyone who is curious about autism. Have a good day, -Richard
I was gonna say you could just buy egg shakers at a percussion store (they're very very sturdy and hard to break and come in a lot of neon colors) but I remembered how overpriced they are for some wasted eggs and beads 😂
You two were great doing this. I loved your goofy mariachy at the end. I like the tambourine best. I don't know anyone w autism so please exclude me from the winners list.
I have a cousin who is one and a half years older then me and she has 1p35 deletion syndrome, which is similar to autism, I wonder if she'll like those sensory items.
Just depends on the age and also depends on weather or not the child puts things in their mouth .And would you use The bigger bells due too Abbie or any child/ adult put things in the mouth? So there wouldent be any chokeing?
Add some googly eyes to the tambourine to make it a little monster you should also sign the things you giveaway if the person that wins wants them signed
Isaiah is such an amazing brother
Right!? He is the sweetest, most loving and patient brother to Abbie. It's adorable.
Honestly, Isaiah is an icon 👑
So much fun watching father and son. It's refreshing to see a father and son get along so well. I smiled through the entire video.
I could not stop smiling watching this video! LOL. I also couldn't help but thinking that in the last shot of Abigail with that maraca she was thinking in her head "Think I can't get in this... challenge accepted." Ha. Thanks for sharing.
Abbie: "This water bottle makes the loudest, most annoying sound. I like it best."
This is lovely. So heartwarming to see two men in the family go to such trouble for their special family member. Not a lot of men would do that. Awesome guys, keep it up. You're an inspiration.
Loved all 3! Might hit up the dollar tree for a tambourine, but the other two look simple enough for even me. Best part: Abbie. And Priscilla’s laugh.
I just have this feeling that Isaiah has the tiniest bit of sarcastic humor in him. I find him hilarious. I love how wholesome this is...Just two guys crafting 😂❤️
