- IT WORKS YOU GUYS! This method of Winter Sowing really has made me think about starting a bunch of seeds outside next year... What do you think?
Also, I know some people were really happy to get some free tulips! I'll be paying Tractor Supply a visit in late November just in case lol #gardening #wintersowing #tulips

Can’t believe you pulled out those beautiful tulips when they were at their peak!🤭
You have inspired me to try winter sowing with the seeds I'm starting to gather from my plants this summer.
Go for it!
This was great! Never thought to do winter sowing in a clear tote. Also, I love end of the video. 😁
Glad you liked it! Yes, super easy!
Awww love that fact that you are spreading the joy with your neighbors. Mr. Rogers would be so proud!!!🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷✌️
That full bed of tulips was stunning!! So generous of you to share them! Congratulations on your success with the tulips and winter sowing. Your videos are looking so good, great color and audio.
Thank you so much!
I like the thumbnails you choose.
Thank you!
Your photography is stunning, and I love the vignettes you put together. ❤️ I also love your winter sowing method, and I will definitely do it that way next year.
Thank you so much! And good luck!
I wish you were my neighbor! What a beautiful thing to share.
Thank you! Maybe YOU need to be that neighboor... it doesnt have to be a huge scale, a simple bouquet for 1-2 people would do wonders.
Those tulips were so perfect! So sweet of you to give them away!
I may try some winter sowing in totes. I did jugs but I saw the video where you said you had no success previously. Yours look great this year. Be sure to leave the ones that didn’t sprout in the tote. They might sprout when temps get warmer.
Sounds great! Somebody else mentioned that as well, I will definitely do that!
@@SoilandMargaritas I jug sowed onion last October. They didn’t sprout. I set the jug aside. Was going to dump the soil in my garden in spring. The onion sprouted in February. The onion are now planted out in my garden.
Your neighborhood must love you. They are beautiful.
Those tulips are gorgeous! I had planted bulbs late in fall and it's a little bit scary for me.
Great job on your Seedlings!Don't be afraid to divide them. Seedlings are very resilient.
I loved the end!! It gave me a big chuckle 😃.
Somos dos. 😆 🤣
LOL Gracias!
You did well with your 80%. I also used tote and milk gallons which initially did well but a cold snap killed most of them. Will try again next year
My clear water jugs did great for me. This was my first year doing it. I have Cilantro, Snap dragons, Hollyhocks, Annual rudbeckia, Tomatillos, Begonias, and Chamomile❣️ I will do winter sowing again next season.
That is awesome! Cilantro is coming back on my beds in different spots, that makes me so happy!
I just found you channel last week and I subscribed. Your videos are great, the end was hilarious.
Awesome, thank you! And welcome!
These big tubs beat out milk jugs for wintersowing, any day! I’m going to give it one more year, and will only be using tubs. Milk jugs don’t seem to work for me and don’t offer as much protection from big temperature dips. Plus you can put so many types in one space, they have more room to grow, etc etc… I’ve had the best results with verbena b. outside as well. They didn’t do anything on my growing rack, so I put the tray in a tub outdoors and they all germinated!
I am so excited to FINALLY have verbena in my gardens blooming (fingers crossed!) Good luck!
@@SoilandMargaritas Thankfully the ones I had planted last year came back from the roots. I left them lie in the garden and didn’t clean up til spring. You will LOVE them. They brought in so many butterflies and were gorgeous just swaying in the breeze. I can’t be without them now 💚
Beautiful 😊 my tulips will go to my neighbours too x
Wonderful!
I planted tulips in November. Here in Indianapolis. I have only two of them coming up. And just popping out of the ground.
It has been a crazy weather, I don't think any of my daffodils made it.
Love your videos. Those tulips 😍. Your neighbors are lucky! Congrats on your winter sowing success!!! 👍🏻
Thanks so much!
I was thinking you might try the bottoms of the milk jugs for planting, then put them in the clear crate. That might make it easier to deal with when you have to divide??
Thanks for the tip! I think next year I would like to try smaller containers and see if I can get single plants in them, instead of bulk.
Those tulips look so nice with the black flower bed. Beautiful. 💖💖💖💐
Thank you!
Your tulip collection is amazing. Love for flowers
Thank you!
So funny to include your outtakes!
I am going to try your method this year - thank you so much for sharing!
Good luck!
hahaha...love your thumbnail attempts! love all of your videos, actually :)
😊 thank you
Gorgeous tulips Roxanna 💕 and your winter sowing method is definitely one I’m going to try next year in the tub 🌸💕🌸
Thanks so much 😊
Hehe, you're so funny. And your polish is sweet.
Thank you! 😃
This is a beautiful idea, sharing the love of tulips with your neighbors. Your tulips were stunning.
Thanks so much 😊
Your tulips were gorgeous!! And the winter sowing looks great. Also you are so cute, when you said poppies, not baby dogs 😂😘💚
My hubby kept correcting me, that's why I made that "note" lol
Hi ~ you put holes in the top of the lid …did you also put holes in the bottom as well? Thanks so much & those tulips Ohmygosh beautiful ! 🌸

So beautiful!!! I live in your area. Wish I could have grabbed some.
Your experiment was definitely successful and impressive. Nice!
Thank you!
Great idea using the clear tote!
Thank you! 😊 It was Maureen's from Parsonandpeonies on IG
Great job Roxana!
Thank you!
Great! I have Delphinium, Viola, Yellow Columbines, and Day lily (started in Feb) Z 5b. And my Spring Winter Sowing (April) I have Double Click Cosmos, Katz Formula Mix Stock and more. I'm thrilled! Some things are doing way better than others, I think I'll try more next year.😛
Same here, more next year!
Simply gorgeous those tulips are! I watched earlier this morning and didn't get chance to comment. I totally like the modified method of winter sowing... I had lots of luck a few years ago trying this way. Your seedlings did exceptional. Bravo!
Thank you so much!
I got 9 Scabiosa from winter sowing and 2 poppies, All the other jugs had nothing. I’m gonna try sowing cool flowers in the fall and overwintering in the ground.
Good idea!
You don’t need to fertilize if you used potting soil. Only if you used seed starting soil.
Graci hola que bonitos tulipanes 🌷 en que parte de indiana vives, me gustaría que hicieras más videos en español 😉😁
Estoy en la parte central Graciela.
se ven hermosas las flores en esa cama de cultivo o bancal negro, hermosas.
I can't believe you pulled the tulips. So pretty. Do you do this every year? How do you keep squirrels & deer off them?
I have no problems with deer or squirrels, I started doing this last year with hydrangeas and summer blooms, but this year I just started with tulips.
I had problems if the tulips were in the ground, but no problems if they were in containers
If you soak the root ball in water it should pull apart easier ;)
I am going to do all the extra things just to make sure not to damage them too much!
I don't believe you pulled all those beautiful tulips up.
They are so beautiful and my neighbors were delighted with them.
I bought the same ones and got rid of them as well. They were supposed to be red Darwin tulips.
These are some sort of berry mix and I am going to look for them again because they were gorgeous!
🤣Thumbnails! 💗
LOL I had to!
I might try this , jug method did not work for me. Thank you!
Sorry to hear that, but yes, try it!
When do you start winter sowing, I’m in zone6b Michigan??
I mentioned this twice in the video... The first week of March
So weird…just about everyone had trouble with scabiosa! My starflower variety came up perfectly, but had trouble with the others 🤷♀️
Yes, It could be the batch of seeds but who knows!
🧡🌻
Do you think they didn't germinate bc it wasn't warm enough for those plants yet?
It has been warm for sure, and even inside the tub it gets pretty hot.
Where do you get your bins?!
Meijer I think.
Tulips need to grow until tops die back to get energy stored in bulbs for next year. I doubt any of yours will survive because they are a fall moved or planted bulb. Not spring time, just to let you know about tulips!
Thank you! Yup, if I want my tulips to come back I need to let the foliage die completely on their own, mine in the raised beds are considered annuals, I just don’t have the time or the space to keep them there. I have garden beds where I let them be for a 2nd or even a 3rd year before I dig them out completely
@@SoilandMargaritas It’s nice you give the beautiful tulip bulbs to neighbors but I’m just saying at that time of year at bloom stage they most likely won’t keep growing for them. To get energy to live and bloom again.
@@catfishm.1361 I don’t expect my neighbors to try and get them to rebloom again, most tulips are so picky for me when I try to do everything “right” for them to come back the next year… it’s just how it is with tulips (for me anyways)
Thank you!
I bought my scabiosas seeds from Floret and none germinated.
Oh no :( I had 2 varieties from different vendors and still only 2 seeds total germinated... I did put some in the fridge first and some are coming up that way.
Yo ni intento ese metodo porque aqui de repente se pone caliente y se cocinan las plantas ya me paso ase como 4 años.
Me imagino! Ni siquiera has de necesitar covertores LOL
How are your poppies doing now?? I cant wait to use this method for winter sowing!!
So the poppies did not survive, I have a feeling they did not like me dividing them... now I know they can germinate that way, next year I will make sure to just add a couple of seeds and thin right away.
@@SoilandMargaritas i was wondering because I had several germinate when I direct sowed them in a pot outside during winter but eventually died too. I'll try again next year because I really want poppies!! 😅
Los tulipanes no dejas que se sequen?
Generalmente si, pero estos los sembre para regalar, necesito esa cama para mis vegetales.
ALL MY RUclips GARDEN 🪴 FRIENDS I MISS ALL YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!!!! I LOOK SO FORWARD TO SEEING YOU!!!!!! I HAVE A LOT OF PROJECTS TO DO, I LEARN SO MUCH FROM ALL OF YOU!!!!!!!!! LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING YOU 👀
Hi Janice! So nice to have you here!
