All that looks wonderful, satisfying and delicious. What Aly forgot to mention that unlike most people who spend 7-8 hours a day in front of their screens sitting in an office, cubicle or home office, she spends 7-8 hours a day training in the gym. She "works" in the gym people. 40 hours or more per week so all that food does balances out. And some of us don't have an Olympic athlete metabolisms either.
They're surprised when gymnasts and skaters or for that matter dancers eat a lot due to the reputation for restrictive diets in those worlds. For that matter also people are always surprised when they find out thin people eat.
I was a gymnast. I was a bigger built girl like some of the Brits. And tall. I don't think I ate that much every day. I was told I was too heavy. But that happened from doing a very low calorie diet a couple years before. I had become thin, but I was starving, and chewing maybe 20 or more pieces of gum per day. Ruined my metabolism. Now I am thin again, but mainly from being past menopause. Body changed. Food is only part of the equation.
i love Aly TOO MUCH she means a whole lot!!!!!!!!! She works so hard, she's beautiful, and in my opinion the BEST GYMNAST!!!!!!!!!!!! I love watching her, shes the best please tell her that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - her #1 fan: Gracie
I think it was Chellsie Memmell who said in interview that she ate fruit and chicken and nothing else. Even in fictional representations athletes have some crazy diets. Like in Ice Princess, one of the skaters doesn't ever eat bread, and another considers a handful of cheese is considered 'pigging out'.
Elena Green that’s not how healthy eating works. You shouldn’t use exercise as an excuse to “burn off” what you eat. You need to eat healthy, balanced meals to properly fuel your body for exercise. Diet and exercise go hand in hand, you won’t see or feel results with just one of them.
elena g Not exactly. Gymnasts don’t actually burn too many calories. They do short bursts of exercise, not like swimmers or long distance runners who burn a lot of calories. Plus, gymnasts tend to want to be as light as possible in order to flip their body weight around in the air multiple times.
Aly is great, so sharp and a tough competitor, hope to see more of her on TV, maybe more gymnastic competition too? The meals though look positively uninspiring to me, except dessert...
i totally agree with Aly that carbs, by no means, is your enemy, but only to some extent. too much of carbs in your diet is of course, an enemy to your body. however, if your activities of daily living require you to consume more carbs, go for low glycemic index carbs.
I went two years without a carb, and I was killing it...carbs are over rated, but now I do CrossFit and with super high intensity sport performance will suffer without carbs
This all looks fine and dandy, but I wonder how much she was allowed to eat when training at at “The Ranch.” I’ve heard that many gymnasts were severely restricted on what they could eat while training there.
Btw, protein not digesting without carbs is a stupid and easily refutable statement- talk the massai or the Inuit of Alaska - theres more than that to prove that agriculture is a luxury, not a necessity
I suppose. I mean I know she's only five foot or summit but still it doesn't look a lot for an athlete. One slice of bread and a tiny bit of pasta, yeesh.
ERIKA DOWDY that’s not how healthy eating works. You shouldn’t use exercise as an excuse to “burn off” what you eat. You need to eat healthy, balanced meals to properly fuel your body for exercise. Diet and exercise go hand in hand, you won’t see or feel results with just one of them.
2299mikey let’s change one more word than and add sustainable fuel. Because you can a bunch of twinkies and pork rinds for your fuel as an Olympic athlete, and burn it off, but you will feel pretty lousy if that’s all you eat...
“You need carbs... to digest protein.” “So I cut out uhhhh.... what’s it called sugar and my injury got better.” Yeah no shit. An actual fact about this is combining them is worse than consuming either one alone. It’s called AGE’s.
There’s no way she eats this little. It feels like her diet but cut down to be normal portions for people who don’t work out 8 hours a day. Still liked the food ideas though!
Swimming burns way more calories than gymnastics. Swimmers are swimming the whole practice. Gymnastics practices are long but they aren't moving the whole time. I agree the portions are probably small here though. They had like half a cup of ziti pasta which is all air on that plate and it probably is less than 100 calories from carbs just so she can say "I eat carbs". Yeah, she does, but probably more than this. The portions shown are more for non athletes.
Sprinters don’t need carbs. Different sport use different energy Systems. She doesn’t know what she’s talking about. Not everyone needs carbs. Sports that use an Aerobic energy system needs carbs. I.E 800m, mile 3200, etc. short sprinter that use the anaerobic energy system/ Alatic/glycogen needs protein.
Lady you need to moooove!! Typical American eat everything sit and complain about "ooohmy gad! Gluten eww nuts👀😱 carbs (even if you are not medically diagnosised) ACTUALLY this trend has spread everywhere even in Asia!! Do they (audience and host know how much does athlete workout in a day week month year! Their was a time chole puri etc were eaten now replaced by McD Bking etc..cool Cold processed stuff is cool!! 🤦🏽♀️
I would be pretty uncomfortable if that lady Rachel said to me,”you eat a lot girl!”
for real!
Thanks Aly for giving insight on importance of nutrition and not fearing carbs. Balance has got to be important. Thanks.

It's allll about moderation and portion control people! People try to starve themselves and that's just not needed.
Why are people surprised to find out that athletes eat? We need fuel... eating is a huge part of any sport
They're surprised when gymnasts and skaters or for that matter dancers eat a lot due to the reputation for restrictive diets in those worlds. For that matter also people are always surprised when they find out thin people eat.
THEY CLAPPED FOR AVOCADO
😂😂😂
Lmao the look on the audience face too
If it's filmed in California we do that.
Is this what she eats now or when she was training? It doesn't actually seem like a lot of food for someone who was training 7+ hours a day...

Can ally talk woman! Lol
i love Aly TOO MUCH she means a whole lot!!!!!!!!! She works so hard, she's beautiful, and in my opinion the BEST GYMNAST!!!!!!!!!!!! I love watching her, shes the best please tell her that!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - her #1 fan: Gracie
Grace Molina I agree! I love watching her too! I'm also her #1 fan! She's my favorite!
When I watch her on the Olympics competing, it makes me want to do it too!
Tell it Aly! Why don't people want to eat carbs?! You need them!
I think it was Chellsie Memmell who said in interview that she ate fruit and chicken and nothing else. Even in fictional representations athletes have some crazy diets. True. You just need to pick which ones you eat like complex carbs that takes a while to get digested thus, making you feel fuller longer.
Honestly she could probably eat whatever she wants, she works out so hard 😂

No amount of exercise will fix a bad diet. You can’t eat what you want and plan to use exercise to burn it off. Your body doesn’t work like that

Oh, glad you mentioned Coffee to. And in another video you gave props to Chocolate milk.
As she says "you are what you eat " I was eating from a thing of icecream
Aly is great, so sharp and a tough competitor, hope to see more of her on TV, maybe more gymnastic competition too? The meals though look positively uninspiring to me, except dessert...

“ Guaca-breakfast!” I love it.
Let me re-iterate a comment below: "Can ally talk woman!!"
“Guaca-breakfast” has this woman never heard of avocado toast lmao
I went two years without a carb, and I was killing it...carbs are over rated, but now I do CrossFit and with super high intensity sport performance will suffer without carbs
She was wrong to say “ you eat A lot of food”
This all looks fine and dandy, but I wonder how much she was allowed to eat when training at at “The Ranch.” I’ve heard that many gymnasts were severely restricted on what they could eat while training there.
I hope other gymnasts can see this so they don't starve themselves.
Btw, protein not digesting without carbs is a stupid and easily refutable statement- talk the massai or the Inuit of Alaska - theres more than that to prove that agriculture is a luxury, not a necessity
Tell Michael Phelps to show his diet 😂😂
Did Rachel just say she eats a lot of food? I eat what's on that table for breakfast sheesh
Looks like a lot of food to me! It depends on the person
I suppose. I mean I know she's only five foot or summit but still it doesn't look a lot for an athlete. One slice of bread and a tiny bit of pasta, yeesh.
Ok but where are the seasonings?
I'm eating ice cream whilst watching this...
I would hope it includes carbs, are you kidding
Low carbs give you energy as well.
No shit it has carbs!!! Carbs=energy
Steak all day!
For me really I just wanna know that and just use sugar because sugar is awesome I can help you relax
Why is Rachel Ray so out of breath from just standing
cause she is fat
When u excersise and are an athlete, u can eat whatever u want cuz ur burning it off

Alli Kreisman you literally just changed one word and act like it’s something different. Burning off and fuel are the same thing

I'm surprised she doesn't eat more with 2 multiple hour workouts a day. Not hating i'm just surprised.
See Márta? Did you learn something?
this is so funny bruh she literally did this just for her good idek if she cares about alys diet lmao
The reason Americans fear carbs is bc they dont exercise enough.
I hope people understand this is what she eats now that she isnt training. No way would this be enough for her before when she was trianing!!!!!
She was talking about the average person who works out about 30-60 minutes a day and what she needed as an elite level gymnast

Cold processed stuff is cool!! 🤦🏽♀️
theses also nothing balanced about eggs. the usda legally can not call eggs healthy bc they have sooooooo much cholesterol
there are cholesterol free eggs too :P
you still need cholesterol so that your body can produce hormones girl!
bish gtfo with your eating disorder shiiiiih
Cholesterol isn’t bad for you
Your body produces cholesterol on its own, so there is no need to consume more, they will just clog up your arteries in the long run
Animal products. yummy. The worst you can do for your body. I am Bodybuilding on plant based Food. Never felt better than ever.
