I specifically remember Trichinosis spiralis from parasitology class because humans can be infected by it. I wrote in bold *Don't eat raw bear meat* in my notes
Invasive Parasites are Annoying though not gonna lie... I love every single species on earth except two... Mosquitoes and Considering it make me Allergic to Meat... Ticks...
I kept thinking crash course zoology had already spoken about symbiotic animal pairings. Episode four. I looked at the previous episodes an there it was while crash course was speaking about meals, digestion and how animals obtain nutrients. Certain parasites kill their hosts simply consuming their host until death occures. While other parasites maintain the life of their host as being their meal tickets.
i hate ticks. in the last 10 years the tick population exploded. before that i could walk freely on grass and in the forests and not one single tick bit me. now they are everywhere.

Eugh, the actual sound of a wasp's wings being used here is not nice. I've taken to blasting mint essential oil in a diffuser frequently in order to keep them out of my room and I'm entirely too tuned into that sound. DX
The definition of a parasite is an organism that gains benefit at another organism’s expense. Please correct me if I am wrong, but I do not believe the mitochondria particularly harmed its host cell. It was probably another form of symbiont like a mutualist, which, by definition both gives and gains benefit to and from its host.
RE the condor mite, why would a louse, an ectoparasite, have anything to do with the immune system of its host? I've heard talk about it in occasion, but I've never found an explanation.
They're There, They're Their No need to gender the hypothetical Bear It does not exist, It is not aware We can be more inclusive by referring to them as Their A non-binary bear is just as good an example and will have just as good of a parasitic sample They're even just as good for a campsite trample But don't run away and twist your ankle I hope that this poem isn't too much to bear but language is a powerful tool, we should use with flair And mindful we should be, with our air I hope I have not spoken in err (Thank you for reading. I enjoy your videos Crash Course but it was a bit striking how much the host had to refer to the Hypothetical Bears gender in that short clip. In any scientific presentations I've given, I typically strive to refer to subjects in a bit different of a style and only include gender if it is of direct relation to to the topic at hand. In this use case I do not see a need to gender a bear to express parasites relations to North American Black Bears. Had the Reproductive system been involved then maybe. In this case each Parasite could have been found in any North American Black Bear, regardless of gender. I understand that not all may agree with this assessment but hope this has been insightful and can create a positive dialogue.)
I love that the bear just stares blankly ahead like "haha what"
A special love to the parasites who share my Netflix account
😂😅
Children am I right?
🤣🤣🤣
That's kinda funny.
The horror movie genre of animals

A parasitology class sounds like it would be very practical and useful to take, wish I had that opportunity
Petition to classify bear-specific parasites as "bearasites"
THAT Parasite reference at 4:20
Cool one, Crash Course!
I was wondering what that was about… too bad I haven't watched that movie (yet)!
A shout-out to parasites. A topic that's growing on me 😜
🌸Like 💫a 😶damn ✨ sociopath 🎶
It's inside all of us.
Hopefully it’s not growing in you as well

I have no idea whether there are parasite around me or in me, which makes it all the more terrifying.
Can we still get rid of the ticks and mosquitos?
I was waiting to see the bear slowly freakout as she went trough the list of parasites on and in him: What?!?! Get out. Get out!!!.
Was that a tarantula hawk wasp with the spider? I love those things, they’re terrifying!
Parasites are important to the ecosystem, I think I should be a parasite conservation expert.
Invasive Parasites are Annoying though not gonna lie...
I love every single species on earth except two... Mosquitoes and
Considering it make me Allergic to Meat... Ticks...
Exactly the two species I could do without. However, in opposite order.
that infographic at 4:19 was a nice nod. nice
I admit that I'm slow. I didn't understand what the light bulb had to do with what she was saying.
Yeah, I don't get it.
@@joshuaychung It's a nod to the Academy Award winning movie "Parasite" where flickering lights play an important part in the story.
That bear's looking at me like "Did she just say 'bear juices'?"
Nice reference to the movie 'Parasite'. Thank you crash course/PBS for the great videos!
I always thought symbiosis meant both parties benefit, and was not a descriptor for parasitism, in which only one party benefits. Hmm...
My video: ...parasitic castration...
Family: what the heck are you watching?!
How does evolution work with those animals solely dependant on another?
I went to a parasite museum in Tokyo. Super cool place.

How do I delete memories?

Can't we just freeze the parasites and call it a day? Not so into the "preserving" thing for them.
Love the host 🥁 but I wasn't ready for this one. Gave me the hebejebes😬
Thank you
Will we be getting episodes on other types of symbiosis such as mutualism among animals?
Thanks learning more and more!
Nice information and nicely explained 👍
Always best the crash course

Speaking of parasites, we have a lot here at home. FREELOADERS!
*Relatives*
How about kleptoparasitism? To which bears are sometimes.
Parasitic Castration always makes me Shudder, Not cool bro.
If you're interested in parasites I recommend "Parasites" by Carl Zimmer.
Host: Aren't bears the best?
Me:Yup, love 'em
Host: Here's a bear? 🐻
Me:Aww cute
Host: She's riddled with parasites!
Me: 😨😭

PLEASE DO MATHEMATICS CRASH COURSE. And do Pure Math, please!
Humans relationship to earth is very similar to what you just described.
Malthusian nonsense. You can't even measure or demonstrate what the earth is in its entiriy or even where it begins or ends (if at all).
Yep this is definitely the video I wanted to watch today
watching this made me very itchy
Interesting ! 🦋🦋
YEAH JUST WANT I NEED MORE HOMEWORK. thank you i will enjoy it.
Good movie for the lunch break 🤣
anyone else get really itchy this episode?
are we technically parasites of bees? or is farming whole other ball of wax
and then there are cleptoparasites that live by stealing, usually food from more accomplished hunters
Great !
Was our mitochondria once a parasite?

Crazy Fact: In 2006, a Coca-Cola employee offered to sell Coca-Cola secrets to Pepsi. Pepsi responded by notifying Coca-Cola.
Good social science educational channel 👍I am form india my dream one day go USA ❣️🙏
You will never convince me that parasites are a good thing. Ugh, so gross..🤢
Does bear spray get rid of parasites?
OMG the 4:21 lol
@ my toenail fungus: LEAVE ME ALONE
Insomnia sent me here at 2 am Jakarta time.

Where's John Green my best friend I miss him so much 😅😎
After this.... I still hate parasites (worms, insects, etc.) those pesky weird and disgusting troublemakers 😝😝🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

"And the bear herself."
Can someone explain to a non native English speaker why the bear as treated as "her" not as "it"?
Can parasites have parasites?
Yes
They're There, They're Their
No need to gender the hypothetical Bear
It does not exist, It is not aware
We can be more inclusive by referring to them as Their
A non-binary bear is just as good an example
and will have just as good of a parasitic sample
They're even just as good for a campsite trample
But don't run away and twist your ankle
I hope that this poem isn't too much to bear
but language is a powerful tool, we should use with flair
And mindful we should be, with our air
I hope I have not spoken in err

Probably wasn't the wisest choice to eat lunch while watching a video about parasitism. Oh well. Hopefully there were no worms in the fish I just ate.

Watched the video. Didn’t even mention my ex. Thumbs down.
