Sandringham - A Garden fit for a King

- Video shows our visit to the formal gardens of Sandringham located in Norfolk. Since 1862 Sandringham has been the country retreat of the British Monarch.
Open to the public between April and October. Entry to the formal gardens is free to RHS and Historic House members. Charges apply for non members which can be obtained from the Sandringham website. Car Parking is £5 if paid in advance.
The gardens are beautifully landscaped with many rare plants and trees. featuring lakes, streamside walks , woodland and shrubberies this is a really wonderful and relaxing garden. With a new topiary area developed under King Charles III the garden is still a work in progress.
The formal gardens cover 60 acres, with a further 20,000 acres of parkland which can be explored.
We also visit the parish church of St Mary Magdalene , considered one of the finest Carrstone building in existence dating back to 16th century.

What a beautiful garden. It is planted with many rare plants and beautifully maintained.
The stream there is beautiful and the sound of the flowing water is soothing.

😄 we did feel like royalty walking around here. Tge gardens are very different to anywhere else much more a landscape with such beautiful trees and shrubs. It was interesting to see the influence of King Charles on the gardens, they will be very different in the future much more densely planted with wonderful canopy. Hi guys hope you are well. Yes, the church is fantastic a step up from most 😆. The gardens are so relaxing with some magnificent specimens to enjoy. The wider estate is great for walking and cycling Boo would love it and it's free (apart from £5 parking) unfortunately they don't allow dogs in the formal gardens but there are so many walks on the estate 20k acres to explore. You had a very enjoyable trip on a lovely day. The gardens here are wonderful to explore and of course the fact that it is very much a favoured Royal residence adds so much atmosphere to the place. Good morning Ivor and Robert. The gardens here are so relaxing to walk around. There are some magnificent trees and shrubs. It's interesting to see how it is already changing with the influence of Charles III. They have planted hundreds of trees many acers which will alter the canopy and views you get of the house. The works at the front of the house are still ongoing but will be fantastic when they are complete. Looks like it's going to be a warm one today . Lovely place. Been into the wider area but not the actual gardens. Ive also visited the nearby bogs and also Wolferton (famous for the original royal station)

Hi yes we have been in the house previously although only a few rooms are open it's well worth it, but as you say the understandably do not allow cameras. There are a couple of exhibitions in the courtyard and the wider estate has some great walks and cycle routes.
