I learned the hard way about going into a multiplayer server unprepared. You can do a lot on single player to get ready. For starters, know how to start the aircraft of choice from cold and dark. Many, or most, start out cold & dark. Also turn off easy communication. Know how to operate the radios of your aircraft. Never become dependent on using exterior views, say, to taxi. Most will have exterior views turned off. Know how to use VOR and NBD navigation, ILS and VFR. Some have live humans in the towers, so know how to communicate with them, follow their instructions, read backs, taxi speed limits, etc. And the biggest issue I had to rectify was landing. LOL. I would hop on DCS, start my jet at 20,000 feet and have the baddies lined up. After I shot them down, I would just end the mission. That's fine in a very limited way, just to focus on one aspect of training, such as using Maverick's with a T-POD. Now, I make myself start cold & dark, taxi, take off (practice using crosswind takeoffs/landings, I always set the wind direction head on) and land when finished. Even practice taxiing to shut down to rearm/refuel and get back airborne.

As cool as my computer/simpit rig is, I've only once in a blue moon have ever done multi-player. My radio speech is rusty but I still remember how to (being former military myself - but not a pilot). If I joined a server I'd be a noob. Being a single player flyer I'd be crap in formation flying, tactics, and radio.
Great! What I would have loved, would be to have the radio comms as information cards. Especially the tactical part. And highlight what is said that is "current" information, and what should be noted down. Normal ATC is often quite understandable and internationally standardised to a certain degree, but there are people out here who come from countries where the US standardised tactical brevity etc is not taught. Hey, thank you so much for this video. I sadly have been turned away for missions not on yours but others. Due to me not knowing some of the terms. I can drop bombs laser target hell I got a thrustmaster TQS and the winwing ICP. So tools are not an issue it seems to be people not knowing how to teach or willing to.
New guy here. Been flying in DCS for about a month. How often do you guys run these types of training missions? I'm quite seriously interested in learning deep multiplayer tactics like this but alas, I'm intimidated. I already have VKBs and great peripherals from my star citizen habit so it's not a tool issue. Just knowledge and skills.
How does one who is trained in this manner join your missions ? Our small group of dedicated Eagle pilots fly in a very similar and realistic way, proper comms, planning ,etc
Love your work man i hope you get paid well for that work I wish i could join you guys but my ping going to be high connecting to US server from Iraq And English is not my mother language
If ED stopped breaking the game every patch maybe we could actually play multiplayer in the game we paid for. Currently the game is unplayable with no comment from ED... typical.
Ooph. Thats a lot for my anxiety-riddled brain to take in lol, as much as I love realistic stuff and teamwork I’d need *alot* of confidence in order to do a lot of that lmao. Comms and Aerial Refueling are my biggo problems
I feel you. I started getting into DCS properly around a year ago. Initially it sure as shit made me anxious as fuck because there seemed to be a lot of things I felt like I could never learn. Talking into radios with proper phrases, correct procedures, flying in formation and most of all getting the hang of proper airmanship. But a year later all of this has gotten so much better that I'm actually able to fly proper missions in MP. Practice and even more practice. It sure does help if you're able to find online squadron which has some sort of training program.
@@littleponygirl666Nice! Honestly though I’m not exactly big on squadrons, I usually like to stick to freelancing if that’s the correct word. I uh, fly mouse and keyboard but I can fly a Phantom and other planes crazy well. As a result though, my aerial refueling skills, particularly with a boom, is outright trash, but I can manage fuel nicely. Even so the only general skill issue I have is comms and flow of communications, despite graduating from private pilot ground school lol
If you wanted realism. Those first 2 or 3 guys who show up to the team server should immediately fuel to 50%, take off and hold at a tanker for the next hour while another bunch join in. Then everyone shift forward one tanker and again hold for an hour until the rest join. Form up into flights and move to the next tanker for 2 hours waiting to be called in for a 9 line. Get called in twice for "Recon" only passes and then after holding on the tanker for another 2 hours you got back to the carrier via another 2 tankers, holding with each for an hour. If you need to pee. There are options. But you need to drink. That's more realistic. One to remind those who growl and demand REALISM or GTFO. Ask when when they are buying the big boy diaper for under their G suit and how long they have managed to date to sit in the same damn seat for 12 hours straight without the ability to leave it for an instant.
I mean or just fly short missions... like not all mission need tanker support if they did Ukrain and Russia would be unable to fight under aier power right now.
Kinda interested to see DCS creators try BMS though pretty sure DCS player wont play the game just because of the Graphics and less aircrafts less rivets maybe in upcoming 4.38
The ground school was a really good idea and I learned a lot from it and the following training mission. Might not be the most entertaining content if you don't have the attention span for it though.
@@hhubert1088 Nothing to do with attention span, but I'm sure you are a subject matter expert on that matter. He uses far too many filler words. If he could improve his English, his viewer retention would go up.
Thanks for this video but... I highly doudt most DCSers even know what a plane is before DCS is not how 100% of the big channel or the sim's offical new comer pipeline is like all the maneuls in DCS are Wikipedia rips which an acecombat aor WT flyer knows already but a non nothing does not. And I disagree that Ace combat and WT does not teach you airmanship... It very much does... Also can we stop talking down other sims as if you want the king and queen of airmanship sims... I present MSFS and X-plane... Like if you want to do realistic missions not about pew pew you should fly them instead.
