Dynasty and Shalamar had the dance songs. This brings back memories of my early teenage years. Summer block parties, jump rope, sitting outside summer nights and handball 🤾♂️
If that's Nidra Beard in the blue leggings, I just got word that she passed away from cancer at the age of 71. My condolences to her family. She was not just a singer but.. A song writer as well. The talent a beauty to match.
@odissmith9965 Of course that is Nidra B. and you had to drop this news without some sugarcoat? I was just about to take a bite, now I have to go search for my lost appetite. Why am I even lashing at you? Forgive me. I am sorry but one of my idols just passed away and thank you for the info. True that, she was a maginificent songwriter as well. I found out just last year that she penned Shalamar`s "night to remember" as well as many of the Dynasty smash hits. May she rest in peace.
@@CurtisWhitehead-wn5bs wow! I didn't know that. She was a beautiful woman. I saw that biography of the sylvers family so..I know about leon, he was the one who wrote a lot of the songs for his family group.
Man does this song ever bring back wonderful memories. I danced my ass off to this song and wore out the 45 most likely too!! Man this is a great song!! The rythm, the melody, the singers, the moves, it had everything!!
Leon Sylvers was behind so much good music coming out of the 70's and 80's. I don't think he gets the credit due compared to other producers, but he was part of a unique hot sound that produced long living classics.
@Derek can something be started on Social Media with links to songs and groups he produced? Possible way to introduce him to a new generation and possibly some formal recognition. Whatcha think? People will support your efforts.
I'm looking at Linda... Smiling my ass off, then Linda comes in and starts throwing those hips and I'm like... Ohhhn Shit! LOL. Dynasty and Leon in particular left us some classics.
Solar Records was home of LAs best funk, soul and boogie . Dynasty was still the least famous of the Whispers, Lakeside, Midnight Star and Carrie Lucas they were more in the spotlight than Dynasty were at the time.
This is one of my favorite childhood jams! Groups such as Rufus, Dynasty, Switch, LTD, and Shalamar epitomized sophisticated funk at its finest back in the late '70s-early '80s! I live for these songs, period!
Exactly when I began to know what it feels like listening to good music. My Age Grade was named after this gorgeous group. The "DYNASTY " Thank you guys.
Listening to this genre of music gives me a sense of order and precision, as if every note and every word is perfectly aligned with the previous one, like a puzzle coming together.
aka "Mad Dad" P Kisto...you are absolutely right. Dynasty remains one of Mad Dad's favorite groups from that era. They should of gotten a lot more recognition.
Leon was and still is the man....he had woman singing there hearts out on that stage...and he had Jody watley to???..my man was guud....two female singers...good lawd ...and both are sexy???...bro was on top of the world....couldn't go any where else but the top...and he still there....what a legacy...
This brings back sooooooooo many memories of the 80s you couldn't even begin to imagine. Well, the old timers back then used to say that you were young dumb and full of you know what, ha, hahaha hahaha. Man, they weren't lying. Me and my homeboy to bounce from club to club, with names like Chicago, Bentleys, Leviticus, The Latin quarters, and many more to inebriated to remember. If you were smooth enough and fresh enough, you had eliminated access to the numerous "freaks" that came out at night. According to the rap group Houdini, who I happened to know. Growing up and hanging out in the same housing projects back in the day. There was no covet back then, and all the sexully transmitted diseases were treatable. So back then, when you were on those streets, you were a little bit more reckless and abandoned. Because you weren't expecting any untoward occurrence or impeding, illness to block ingress into the arms or possibly the beds that same night with those freaks that came out ar night, ha,
I'm sure I hadn't heard this song in at least 30 or more years. I've reacquainted with Here's To You, Call Me, I've Just Begun To Love You via the net but totally forgot about Do Me Right. Skyy was a really talented group. Male and female singers and very innovative musicians. 🎹 💯
Group 5 times dope! Especially, my Black sistas of this era I adored and loved. Damn, what happened in last 20 years?? Unfortunately, became obsolete..:-(
The gorgeous soul Nidra Beard passed in 2023. Gone to glory, a heart of Gold and responsible for spreading so much joy. RIP sweet Angel.
😢 no sabía .... que hermosos años 80's
This is REAL MUSIC 🎵🎶
Agreed 👍

Awesome singers of all time. Never got the recognition. I agree.
Shalimar whisper
Always thought this group didn't get the recognition they deserved.
amen the average music would say this is shalamar if u were 2 ask them who sings this
I guess you're right. 👌
Coz Shalamar ans The whispers the biggest bands of label records Solaar, overshadowed them.
Leon !
Like so many others unfortunately!! Although Dynasty's hits sounded alot like Shalamar is probably why music lovers got them mixed up.
Do me right is a melodious song. Evergreen music!!!!.

Leon Sylvers is one of my favorite producers and bass players!!!!!!!
This is one of the most underrated tracks during the disco era
No question. Only hit #34 on the R&B charts.
Wow wow wow. Almost forgot about this song. Real music. They are unsung and underrated. This is Champagne Soul ala 1980’s
Champagne Soul" that's a good name for this music, because it's real classy.
Always reminds me of my late childhood friend Benjamin Nyimbili (Rip Bro). He loved this beautiful Dynasty tune

This was one of the classic music in the 80s. We used to dance to. I still love the beat and the lyrics, too. Thanks so much.

Leon Silver’s distinct sound. His music sounds like a party and good times.
I just listened again to this song... each and every one of them can sing very well. They are true singer. NOT studio singer...

I think Leon Sylvers family could’ve pulled off every one of those dope hits he wrote for other artists!
They left us with sweet memories, but I wish the memories didn't have to go so soon. 😭😭😭😭😭
Sweet song sweet memories 👍😎🎶👍
Him and William Shelby both that him in the green they produced alot of these groups together
A lot of people aren't aware that both William Shelby and Kevin Spencer (the two male vocalists in Dynasty) wrote songs for other Solar label mates.
