I read the comments and you guys made excellent points! I totally forgot 'Ring Ding Dong' 'Lucifer' and 'Everybody' exist! And they were very experimental songs! Thank you guys for reminding me that Shinee has always been an experimental group! Fighting 🔥🔥
You missed their last glances at the end when they connect with the audience, haha. Each performance stage is different too. It must be so hard to perform for an empty house. We wish we could be there! You have to listen to the album, I think you'll enjoy it.
One of the producrrs is the same guy who produced Ring Ding Dong same as lucifer. and super junior's Sorry sorry, nct 127 regular Korean version, tvxq Chance of love, Exo Tempo and many, many more in SM.
Yeah, i grew up with those songs so i was like "shinee is bringing back their old genre" but in a totally new style. Since married to the music, i did not dive well into their musics anymore, still like it though. So happy they did it again
SHINee has always been UNPREDICTABLE. I'm always baffled when people say, "this isn't a SHINee song," or "this isn't the SHINee sound". I wonder how long these people have actually been into SHINee, because if you've been with them for a while, then you would know that SHINee is always experimenting and trying new genres, mixing genres, and creating their own genres in order to give us new sounds and present a new side of themselves. Taemin does the exact same thing. Back in their early career, people were always saying how different SHINee's music was. When "Lucifer" came out people were shocked; when "Sherlock" came out people were shocked; when "Why So Serious came out people were shocked, etc............... They've proven over and over again that nothing is out of their element. The guys specifically said that they had never tried hip-hop, so they decided to go for it and do something new, as usual. However, they didn't just do hip-hop. They combined hip-hop with R&B and classical musical theater for this song. Something no other group has done, as usual. So, my question for those making this statement about this song is....why, again, do you think this isn't a SHINee song and doesn't sound like SHINee? I'm just really curious. The element that makes SHINee uniquely SHINee is their voices, their harmonies, and their performances. THAT is what makes a SHINee song.
Right. This has been bugging me from the reactions I've watched. Them telling this is different from SHINee's ever done, I was like haven't they've been releasing different concept every comeback that are unpredictable and experimental? They are a contemporary band after all.
I strongly agree with everything you said. People tend to just take one or 2 songs and say, based on those songs "it's so not SHINee". As a Shawol, I just felt like it was very SHINee + the song choice made so much sense too. If they had chose something similar as their oldest albums, that would've been really not a SHINee move.
When its weird/experimental.. that’s SHINee’s brand. View = Deep House I want you = Tropical house Sherlock = Dance Pop Everybody = EDM 1 of 1 = funky pop Married to the music = electronic hiphop funk Lucifer and Ring-ding-dong being their early RnB Contemporary style. And their B Sides are hybrids of different genres.
As a SHINee fan since debut, I find it interesting to watch other's reaction to this song especially since it's not what most people are used to from SHINee but don't be alarmed it is them it's just another side of them that if you listen to their other albums you'd hear this type of style is common in a few of their B-side tracks. It's a very SHINee-sounding song. I loved the reaction as usual and I definitely think you should give the album a listen. The song that sounds a lot like this one is their song Alive off their album ODD.
With this comeback, SHINee are just doing what we have all come to expect from them -- showing us something that has never been seen or heard before and starting a new trend. Nothing you hear from them will ever be like anything you have ever seen or heard before. They raise the bar even higher with every comeback. And that's what makes them SHINee. :D With every new song release, SHINee are expected to come out with a style and sound that is brand new, not only for them, but in the industry as a whole. And "Don't Call Me" is a perfect example of that. What you just experienced is exactly what makes SHINee legends. And this is the reason why they are so highly respected, and why almost everyone in the industry who came after them cites them as one of their biggest influences and one of the reasons why they wanted to become a singer and dancer, etc. Although I know you know this, SHINee are one of the most iconic and influential groups. They are always setting trends, never following them. SHINee where designed to be SM's experimental boy group, so everything they do is meant to be the first and they are expected to set the trend. With every new song SHINee produces it's expected to be different than the last, so you will never hear the same style or sound from them in any of their songs, even on the same album, and yet, somehow it will always sound like SHINee. The industry looks to SHINee to show them what the next song style and dance trend will be. And it is said that within 3 months of SHINee releasing their new song and choreography, you will see that same sound and style being duplicated across the industry with every comeback to follow from both boy groups and girl groups. When SHINee does something the industry takes note and follows suit. SHINee has started the trend with almost everything -- with every one of their songs to their dances to clothing trends, to live performances, to the way Kpop is promoted -- there is almost nothing that can't be attributed to something SHINee has been involved in. I think SHINee's "Don't Call Me" MV and Fake Reality teaser is SM's way of drawing SHINee into the SM Universe and fully connect SHINee to SuperM's/EXO's storyline. Hence Minho's red hair and the red room with the chairs hanging from the ceiling. I think this might be connected in someway to the Red Force and EXO's/SuperM storyline. I also see connections between SuperM, aespa and SHINee with the fact that we see SuperM riding on a subway train in their "100" MV and we see aespa in the subway in their debut "Black Mamba" MV, and now we see SHINee also in a train station in "Don't Call Me". As with everything SM does it's usually all connected and it's all designed to be part of one large story. I also think that the scene with Key in the red outfit standing on the car that is submerged in water has something to do with the Red Force as well. In that scene we also see Key dressed in his black outfit with the feather headpiece standing in front of the image of himself, which looks as though this could be showing Key in alternate realities -- or a "fake reality." Then it looks as though the members go through some sort of wormhole as they are teleported somewhere and we see them all posing in their black outfits. This looks very similar to SuperM's "Jopping MV when the SuperM members are coming together at the beginning of "Jopping." The members of SuperM are supposed to be coming together to help EXO fight the Red Force and prevent or stop them from corrupting and taking over the world, etc. As "The Avengers" SuperM is taking the "best" members from each of SM's groups -- EXO, Taemin/SHINee, NCT and WayV -- and joining forces to take down the Red Force. And just like how the movies "Avengers Identity War" and "Avengers Endgame" eventually had each of the Marvel Avengers members recruiting their whole crew to help in the fight, I think SM is setting it up so that all of its groups' members will eventually be brought into the fight. So, if you follow EXO's storyline, in EXO's "Obsession" MV we learn that the good guys are the members in the all black outfits, and in "Jopping" we see SuperM's "Avengers uniform" is similar all black outfits. So in the scene in "Don't Call Me," when we see SHINee all together in those black outfits, it looks as though they might be preparing to join in the fight. And because of this, I think people need to pay attention to all of the storylines with all of SM's groups, because I think at least all of SM's third generation groups' MVs and storylines -- and probably even now their 4th gen groups -- are being designed to connect stories and plots. Each group has their own individual storyline and concept, but when you put them all together, there are threads of connection between the groups. And that includes SuperM, EXO, Red Velvet, NCT/WayV, aespa, and maybe even Taemin's solo work, and possibly even SHINee, even though they are technically 2nd generation. Even though SHINee are second gen, they actually fit within the age group of third generation groups, so they sort of bridge that gap between 2nd and 3rd gen.
You keep on saying it’s so different than typical SHINee songs. It’s because SHINee is not typical. And it’s not just HipHop but they still mix it with other genre as well, the RnB sound can be heard clearly too, and the way they added the piano instrument in the last part makes it sound a bit classIcal piece. Makes the music unique as unique as SHINee is. I’m glad you got the feeling at last after second listen. Do check out the B-sides you might still find songs with SHINee sounds but they mix with different genre and makes them all the more interesting. You’ll never be bored with SHINee music.
Finally!!!!! Shinee wont be Shinee if they dont try new genres... This is them showing that all younger Generation kpop idols what 2nd generation idol still can do.. They are not called legends for nothing! You should react to their live versions of Kind, Merry you and Heart Attack! Oh and their version of IU's song Dear Name. They Killed it!!! It's a collaboration they we did not know we need!
People have probably said the same when they released Ring Ding Dong and Lucifer way back then 😄 SHINee has always been an experimental group and the boys want a shot at this genre as they've not done it before. Do check out the B sides of this album - you will hear 70s/80s/90s influences, delivered the SHINee way 😉
shinee has the weirdest choreography like ring ding dong and lucifer, but it suits them it was always executed beautifully. Every comeback that's what I'm always looking forward to.
Unpredictable = SHINee. But if you look at their B-Sides, or even their CONCERT LIVE PERFORMANCES they have way more sound/style in their scope than what’s from their Title Tracks alone. Don’t Call Me have that angst, attitude from their other B-Side tracks. Familiar but still new and unique to them.
thank you for your reaction! The new album is so good! SHINee are and always will be legends and have always tried new styles and started new trends. Just a tiny thing: For Shawols SHINee will always be 5 - there is only OT5. OT4 is actually a term for people who try to erase our dear dubu-leader from content by cropping him out, who don't want him in the group and pretend he's not part of the group, it's a negative term.
WOW WOW WOW WOW WOW! SHINee is BEYOND BACK! Your boyz are making you proud Jonghyun! Onew, Minho..... edgy, raw, breathtaking. Almighty Key......... OMG, you are in fire. TAEMINe ... it doesn't get better than you.
you're right key is a baritone!!!! if you listen to early shinee tracks like 2008-2010 he's very firmly a baritone and had a more open vocal tone but since then he's developed through practice an incredibly wide vocal range with a full tone + intensity/precision throughout that he simply shouldn't have, its amazing. especially that iconic clip of like a fire where he outdoes even jonghyun with his high note runs.
I’ve never been a Shinee fan because I’ve never really listened to their previous music. I think I became a fan of kpop after they were on hiatus. But when I heard this song I loved it. Not realizing like everyone else in the world that this isn’t their usual sound. I loved everything about it. The visuals, the storyline, the minor key, the choreo, the set, the harmony, the background low rap of MinHo, the choreo! I think I’ve watched every reaction and performance of this song and it just stays so fresh to me! So artistic and original! All day long I’ll hear the words “don’t call me” repeatedly. It’s such a vibe! Which draws me in to watch and listen to it again and again!
Same as me first time listening is so confuse 555 but I think it's a good choice for title track the song is so good and powerful and can show new side of SHINee ^^
People forgot that SM debuted Shinee as an experimental group, just like f(x) and red velvet. Their concept and music will never be the same every time. They don't have a specific style. I was very surprised listening to this the first time but that is SM for you

The most unexpected bit for me was the actual Flamenco (when the piano starts ^^), which they even pick up in the choreo for the four of them. Now I want someone to go full castagnets for a live special performance ^^

Reason why I continue to listen to SHINee is because they always sound so different from others, you know how boy bands always do the hip hop style and I just don’t expect them to follow the trend because they always come out with something new and fresh idea. But again, Key also said that it’s not wrong for them to sometimes follow the trends and add something new into it, and they succeed.
Shinee has always been experimenting with different genres....but I am writing to request you to listen to the classical musicians reacting to this song... The link is :- ruclips.net/video/WFvL1mb1vS0/видео.html The channel is "reacttothek"....they explain the nuances of the notes and they too were kinda bewildered how the notes keep shifting (not just one!!)..... this request is just for watching, not for reaction 😊

Yes, you're right. Of all SHINee members, Key has the widest vocal range so he can do low-mid-high notes naturally.

I figured. I'm shocked key can go that high as a baritone. I'm jealous
@@HASHTAGELEVATED remember “like a fire”? he showed his high note and the next second he sang in a lower voice, that’s how good Key is 😍

I love this song
I see many saying this “hip hop vibe” is “not so SHINee”.. then I remember SHINee IS SUPPOSED TO DEBUT AS A HIP HOP GROUP. 🤭🤭🤭
Lolzz same thing I keep saying 💎💎
since the time I found out them to supposedly debut as a hip hop group, I've been waiting to hear a more hip hop based music from them
The comeback is Fire
They have wanted to do something different for a few years. This is a new direction, but still Shinee!
Shawols been proud of our boys💎💎 they were suppose to debut as a Hip Hop group... they always try out different genres n style of music. It always turns out Dope but the ironic thing is that They never 💯 satisfied with their MV’s....💎💎💎💎

You should react shinee kind live and sleepless nights live they are really good.
I went back and listen to it I think it is in a minor chord but it changes to a major and back to minor. But I haven't practice music for a year since I got sick so tell me if I'm right please.
That song was originally given to Boa, but she told SM that it is better to be sang by a group. Then Minho ask for it for their comeback.
I felt exactly the same way but I’m here for it now!

But again, Key also said that it’s not wrong for them to sometimes follow the trends and add something new into it, and they succeed.
What key is this song in ...?
Is Savage a key? Because that's what this song is ...
Aaaah can you react to "I'M THE ONE" by ATEEZ?? You'll love it I promise 😊
Shinee has always been experimenting with different genres....but I am writing to request you to listen to the classical musicians reacting to this song... The link is :-

The channel is "reacttothek"....they explain the nuances of the notes and they too were kinda bewildered how the notes keep shifting (not just one!!)..... this request is just for watching, not for reaction 😊
