Not too surprising to see the better performance at depth with the 30 super carry, since it has a much higher sectional density.

I think it would make a really fun cartridge for a pistol caliber carbine. But it would have to first sell good in handguns.

Thanks for creating this video with 9mm as a comparison! Great job.

Great vid… appreciate you sharing this. I’m always looking for the perfect round. The 30SC is very comparable to 9mm. The P365XL (9mm) has been a total game changer for the industry in my opinion. It’s about the smallest handgun that I can manage effectively, but still has 12+1.
If I was starting from scratch, I’d definitely consider the 30SC. To me it’s about as effective as it needs to be on a 2 legged threat. If any of those clay blocks you shot accurately demonstrate an actual wound cavity, I think that’s definitely a neutralized threat.

Unfair comparison! You didn't properly display the last clay blocks, you pointed out the big part of the 30SC block and the small part of the 9mm block. The 30 SC block had the majority damage on the bottom half, that is what you pointed out, the 9mm block had the majority damage on top, you pointed out the bottom.
You used one of the least expanding defensive 9mm bullets vs the most expanding 30 SC bullets.

From everything I've seen and read, when firing the 30 sc and 9mm out of the same length barrel and same style bullet (just different bullet weight) the sc gets better penetration, expands about the same...but you have more capacity available in the SC!
    Capacity ...30 SC
    Penetration...30 SC
    Expansion....Tie
Meter tested 25% improvement in muzzle flip and accuracy ...SC
30SC for the win!! I hope this round is around to stay!

Great video thnx,i like 30sc and i hope it has a future, with semi-automatic pistol calibers capacity is the only advantage

Glad you're back after the winter, always enjoy your videos! Maybe it's the camera angle, but looks like you're shooting downward into the clay.? My only critique. You looked a little shaky too, but I do too without a few months of live fire, so not a critique.

Thank you for your compliments. Much appreciated. Also, I noticed the same thing you did about possibly shooting downward. Not just your imagination. Will work on it. 👍

An apples to apples comparison with 115gr Speer GD and same length bbl in 9mm would be a better comparison imo, but I know you know that. Just sayin'.

Thank you Mr Kellmer for your thoughts on the matter. Quick question…How did you feel about the 2 block testing method vs the single block…. Thanks again. 👍

@@outdooradventures1696 I like it. One block gives you a pretty good idea of how "devastating" a round is, or not, and two allows one to see how the round carries that power with it through the body. First time I've seen anyone do that.

    Not interested in the Shield EZ. I'm waiting on the 30sc Shield+, 365 30sc, Hellcat 30sc, 43x 30sc, etc.
So pretty much anybody carrying 30sc HST's or Gold Dots in a 16+1 S&W Shield+ gun will be perfectly capable of defending themselves against any human threat. A surgeon operating on a wounded suspect you just blasted with your 30sc wouldn't be able to distinguish the difference in bullets at all, and neither would the medical examiner doing an autopsy on same offender.
You put the 30sc HST in the longer barrel of the Glock 17 and you would get even more speed, so the energy ft/lbs might have even topped the 9mm.

Thank you for taking the time to both watch the vid and to provide the best comment yet. Have you had a chance to shoot the 30 sc yet? Also, you may be impressed with the flat nosed fmj performance in the following vid. ruclips.net/video/b0aXvXwgRLo/видео.html

@@outdooradventures1696 I have not touched a 30sc handgun yet. Still waiting on the 30sc Shield+ to release so I can buy it. I already have the Shield+ in 9mm.
I've bought a few 30sc HST boxes that were at my local gun store, and ordered a few gold dot boxes from palmetto state armory when they showed in stock on their website. So far the price of HST 30sc has been the same as the price of HST 9mm at my preferred local gun store.
I don't remember if you mentioned the recoil difference, if any, between the 30sc and 9mm rounds?

    • @outdooradventures1696
      @outdooradventures1696  2 года назад +2

@srb165 in terms of recoil, when shooting the 30sc next to the 9mm 115 grn ball ammo it is hard to tell much of a difference. However, when shooting the 30sc next to premium defense ammo for 9mm, it becomes clear that the 9mm has a bit more recoil.

Somehow this 9mm critical defense round is NOT nickel plated ?🤔
