- The 49th edition of Rolex Fastnet Race started from Cowes, England, on 8 August, with over 300 yachts setting off into the teeth of a strong westerly. First held in 1925, the demanding offshore classic has a legendary status in sport. Organized by the Royal Ocean Racing Club, the race has been partnered by Rolex since 2001 and demands the very best in skill, determination and teamwork to succeed. Divided into seven starting groups, the fleet crossed the Royal Yacht Squadron line and headed west down The Solent, before entering the English Channel. Competitors are a mix of professional and Corinthians, experienced and newcomers, young and old. With the race finishing in Cherbourg, France for the very first time, the crews face a new twist to the near 100-year-old challenge. Discover more on.rolex.com/3...

I wish the whould more cou regards
Don't think my little S2 9.1 would make that.....
Thank you a incredible sail. To the Sailors who lost their lives in 79 may they Rest in Peace. # HeroesAtSea.
I am watching this while wearing my Chinese Rolex :P
Being heeled-over in high seas for 600 miles, or 1 year hard labor - I'd take the hard labor.
this beats football.
The flying trimaran at 1.45. Holy smokes.
What crappy weather and confused seas. 300 boats. Incredible!!!! Isle of Silly? So that’s how it is pronounced.
I got seasick just watching that two minute clip!
140' sailing yacht. Yikes! I hope the water calms down for them.
love it....thanks for sharing.....
Maxi EdR domination 😅🤯🤯 1d9h58mn
Fantastic
Idemo Skorpion!
fantastic ......
scorpios is only 125 ft not 140... the model is a clubswan 125...
Imagine sailing this in a 30 foot yacht. Little boats get a much tougher experience. A very different race really.
How many days will it take them to complete?
Tremendous energy of each team of the race
Insane!!
Leo's gonna crush it with Tally Ho! LOL
Love the yachting series on this channel.
Soon the start wont be in the UK either.
1:42 and 1:50 spectacular. Soecially the images of Skorpios in te harsh sea
Rolex is a perpetual showcase to the determination and endurance of the human spirit.
Airborne, unbelievable
🙏🙂💗 Hello ROLEX I 💗 love you Good Good ROLEX 😊💗 💗💐💐
❤
cool
And the race is finished already, just amazing!
🌎👍❤
That new black and yellow super maxi is really getting a baptism of fire. The late Tom Blackhaller once told me that the Irish Sea is just awful in a blow because it’s fairly shallow creating a short, steep, chop that is murder on the equipment and crew alike.
❤ 1:25
❤
Crazy fast boats for those sea conditions.
My nephew owns Sunrise and skippers it,will never hear the last of it now damn it.
Awesome but so rough
Wonderful 🎉
My friend and former Captain survived and did well in the 1979 fastnet race.
A bit more footage of the rest of the field would be nice. Instead of just concentrating on the flash the cash boys. After all the main fleet represents the true spirit of the race.
We saw some racers just of the coast from Portland bill yesterday evening, crazy rough conditions. You could see yachts close to the cliffs and as far as the eye could see.
Very rough conditions, particularly on a beat.
I truly hope that Leo Sampson gets the Tally Ho done in time so she can sail in the 2027!
Looking forward to the Tally Ho joining this race! And equally interested to see the performance of the ClubSwan 125 Skorpios against Rambler 88. And I don't know what it is, but the multihulls just don't do it for me... is it the garish paint jobs? The fact that they don't have a classic shape? A difficult history with the AC and multi-hulls?
👋 👋 👋 o
Amaizing! Fast and furious on the water...
Why the finish line is in France?
Brings back memories of 1989, a hard beat to the rock, never been so wet !
wow
its a shame non of the 100 footers signed up
I have got to get in this race. This looks fucking dope
I wish this would get more coverage. Fascinating images for sure!
Brilliant photography, want to see a lot more of this!
Why on earth do they have to mess with tradition? The race should finish where it's always finished.
Earth
I hope customs in Cherbourg will search the Britush yachts for hidden Brexit benefits.
🤩🤩🤩
So does every entrant get a genuine AD Submariner?
The amount of water going over each boat it’s the least a wealthy brand could do…….
amazing! cheers!
A Rothchild?
ROTHSCHILD, PLEASE.
