I MADE THE CUT!!!!!!! And omg well I was hoping you’d pick Nettle and Bone or These Fleeting Shadows but I’ll take the 3 stars as a win for Sirens and Muses!! 😂 Thank you so much for doing these videos!! I look forward to them all year!!!
I've read Nettle & Bone or I would have for sure!! It's my least favourite T Kingfisher but I see why people love it!! & I'm SO glad you got your video up early so I could include you!! It never feels right without a Lexi submission. 💖🤗
I always appreciate how you give other booktubers such a spotlight and lead in these videos. As always - perfection in planning and execution. This is better than going to the movies.
Know My Name by Chanel Miller was one of my favorite non fiction books ever. I am both a survivor of SA and work with children survivors of SA. This book honestly really changed me as a person by saying "yes, this system sucks and you can't control it or fix it yourself, but individual moments of kindness still matter, respect and empathy still matter, and professionalism still matters". It really did a lot of healing of my heart, especially reading it while prepping to testify in a trial that had very low odds of conviction (which was, in fact, not successful). It kept me motivated that I can still make a difference, and that even if the legal system fails, I can still make the journey easier for my fellow survivors. I can't be anything but the kindest version of myself.
Me: *puts out a late top 10 video and feels slightly reassured that Kayla won’t pick something from my list and hate it again Also me watching this video: 🫠 Still one of my favorite videos to watch every year, and I’m honored to be included! 🤍
consistently my favorite book tube channel. If I haven't been on RUclips for a while, this is my first choice to catch up. I love how much you lift up other book tubers and are always trying new things!
I feel that I would 100% would not have enjoyed the Push as much as I did if I were a mother! This was so fun 🥰 thank you for always keeping me company on my lunches haha
I am legit crying watching you cry with And Every Morning and remembering how I SOBBED through 20 solid minutes of the 60 minute audiobook. Only Fredrik Backman can pack so much of an emotional punch in so few pages. The man is a wizard.
I’m so happy Unlikely Animals worked for you! Love to see that one getting more love! ❤️ also I’m so glad that’s the one you chose because you probably would hate The Island and The Housemaid 😅
I don't know about everyone else but this video not only gives me great book recommendations but also channel recommendations!! I always check out at least more than 2 of the people you mention, and I think that says a lot about what you do for the booktube community
Omg I look forward to this video every year, so it was so cool to see that I was included!! I also definitely need to read The Boyfriend Project series! 😍
watching this after chandler's video from today makes me both laugh and feel bad for her. glad you got so many great reads!! this def made me want to check out on earth we're briefly gorgeous
imagine how excited i was to wake up and see that this was NEW. i almost passed it thinking it's your one from last year that i've watched approx 100000x. guess i'm not going back to bed any time soon. you're the best, kayla!
Life goal of being included in one of these videos is complete! 🥺 I was SO excited to see the other side of night on your IG and now I’m so nervous to hear your thoughts on my rec! 😅😅
I love how excited you are about finding new favorites and feeling connected with your fellow booktubers. I found so many new people to follow because of this! Great video. ❤
I literally cut out a clip by accident of me talking about how I went back and *re-read* portions of the book, and decided to bump it up to a 5 star! It's absolutely worth the re-read and I hope you do!! 🤗💕
Yes!! I immediately put The Other Side of Night on hold. You had me at British. Unlikely Animals and Finna went immediately on my TBR. And I’m saving Know My Name for sometime when I think I can get really angry without punching someone. Also I’m listening to the Backman book and I’m 72 and a grandma so you can imagine how that’s going. I loved this video!! Cheers.
I want to thank you so much for making a video like this. I have a personal goal of only watching youtube videos from my subscribed list (I'm a new subscriber!) and I explicitly don't watch any algorithm recommended videos. I _love_ it when creators recommend or shout out other creators they like because it makes it a lot easier to follow new people :)
Yayyy so glad you loved 2 of my all-time fave books: Know My Name and On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾 And Nothing to See Here has been near the top of my TBR for a while, so this was the final push I needed to pick it up!!
Oh my god I haven’t even read the book, but I literally have tears streaming down my face watching you cry reading it. I don’t know if that means I should read it or never read it!
OMG YES. Been waiting for this one. 🥰🧡 Finna is amazing and if you liked it, you should definitely check out the sequel which is Defekt. Know My Name by Chanel Miller is one of the best books I've ever read. Period. I've said this time and time again but the book broke me down but built me back up. I absolutely love her and this book and I recommend it all the time albeit cautiously because it can just be so triggering. YAY for so many 5 star reads through this! 💞
Kayla, just know how much I appreciate the work you put into your videos and how long they are! I love listening to you and it is often very calming to me! :)
This is the funnest video of the year, it feels like an Event. I added Finna and The Other Side of Night to my TBR, yay! I'm sad The Honeys wasn't more of a win, I love that book so much, but I'm glad you at least somewhat enjoyed it!
Was really looking forward to this upload! In the spirit of reading favourites, I just finished Bunny. Wasn't expecting to enjoy it as much as I did but it ended up being 5/5.
It's so cool to see you include small booktubers with less than 1000 subscribers! It's a great way to boost other creators on your platform and it shows that it's truly about the taste in books for you and not networking witht the same people over and over! Loving a democratic queen!
I read The Push when I was pregnant with my son, and loved it but, it would be interesting to see if I would love it as much now if I were to reread it 😅 Thank you for including me in this video! And thank you for all the amazing creator recommendations; so many channels I’m excited to watch now.
One of my favorite books I read last year was The Swimmers by Julie Otsuka. It's a dementia story that made me cry, and is also a little bit strange. Since you've picked up a few sad Alzheimers stories, I think it would be up your alley.
Loved the Backman book and how you prepped for it! I loved the Thursday Murder Club series. Sorry, you weren’t able to get into it. I did keep a list of characters.
My excitement when you pulled out Thursday Murder club is unparalleled!! I know I've commented this before, but I have such a strong feeling you'll love (or at least really like) it
New follower so this is my first time watching this video type from you, and I love that you keep it honest even though they’re taken from someone’s favorites lists
I think the most intriguing part of the push is you don’t know if the child is like that bc (spoiler) they were born sociopathic or bc of the generational trauma and infant neglect causing attachment issues.
Your first update for Mary is how I'm feeling about How to Sell a Haunted House. There was a perfect opportunity to end the book, but then there's 100 more pages. 🙈
I’d love to see you do this video again but with booktokers at the end of the year. There’s so many booktokers I love that aren’t on booktube or bookstagram ❤
The Honeys audiobook won an honor award today. I’m a wimp with scary things but I kind of want to try it out. Know my name is going on my TBR for sure.
I'd always been curious about reading booktuber favourites just to see what I'd think about it, so I finally made this video myself hehe. I haven't watched the whole thing since it's literally just come out, but I'm veryyyyy curious to see your opinions on the thursday murder club.
I like how Ryan LaSala won an award for best YA audiobook as you praise the audiobook experience. I think you and I pretty much agree on The Honeys, but I loved what it had to say about grief and Mars as a non-binary lead character. Glad you read it! And amazing video as always, thanks Kayla.
ANOTHER FEATURE LENGTH FILM FROM OUR FAVORITE DIRECTOR
kayla deserves an oscar
This comment wins
You love to see it 😂❤
In theaters near me, even!
This is my favourite video to watch each year, and let me tell you, the GASP I made when I saw myself pop up...I was not expecting that! ❤
The pronunciation of my name in a non-Australian accent is so cute hehe
Also, so glad you read Know My Name! Chanel Miller wrote that book so incredibly well
Kayla, I'm honoured to have been included in this ❤❤❤
Aww I’ve been subscribed to you since like your third video and was happy to see you pop up, love this for you!
Wait I love this for you ❤ I hope I make it on here next year 😅
45:40 Kayla I’m so sorry 😭💙
But also 2 years in a row now I got you a 5 star read, my competitive side is really smug right now haha
The dedication and work you put into your videos is ASTOUNDING
It really is ❤
I MADE THE CUT!!!!!!!
And omg well I was hoping you’d pick Nettle and Bone or These Fleeting Shadows but I’ll take the 3 stars as a win for Sirens and Muses!! 😂

KAYLA 😭 absolutely freaking out that I was included. Life = made 💕
Love this for you ❤
consistently my favorite book tube channel. If I haven't been on RUclips for a while, this is my first choice to catch up. I love how much you lift up other book tubers and are always trying new things!
I love how you consistently support other creators. Not just in this video but throughout the year ❤️🥰😍 You're the best. I'm so hyped for this video 😊
🤗💖
I feel that I would 100% would not have enjoyed the Push as much as I did if I were a mother! This was so fun 🥰 thank you for always keeping me company on my lunches haha
Omg it me!!!! 💛 So glad you took a chance on Sirens & Muses 🥰📚
We love a studio Kayla production!

Can I give this video 5 stars? I love the way its done, and I love that you introduce us to new book tubers! Thanks !

Girl, I'm reading The Push right now and have cried multiple times because of the visceral memories of the newborm stage.
