why is trevante rhodes not getting any golden globes/oscar buzz? everyone in the movie was phenomenal but i feel he really really deserves a nomination for lead actor, his scenes had so much subdued, subtle tension and intensity that is so rarely pulled off that effectively.

andreja kuzmanovic He wasnt nominated because there was no true "lead actor" in the movie. it went through the stages of his life and each character had the same amount of time to tell their story, so in essence they are all supporting roles. Mahershala Ali was nominated for this since his performance was the strongest.
Then tension/nervousness you can feel in both of them in the car while this song is playing is just insane.

This movie is a golden piece of art. Every single thing on Moonlight irradiates perfection.
My favorite thing about the movie is how well it tells a story with so few words. And what a banger this song is.
I found myself halfway through the movie thinking, what am i watching? Only after i watched it did i realise i just watched a masterpiece. Chiron's life was just hard, growing wup with a crackhead mom, being bullied in school and then you gay. Maaaan!!

I don't mean to take anything away from those 2 actors, but man...that scene in the Kitchen at Kevin's house at the very end where grown Chiron is trembling with fear/desire/longing...WOW! It was super intense! Just amazing acting. He really embodied Chiron in that moment. He gets the nomination and the Oscar in my head.

This has forever become Chiron's theme song to me, for the person he felt he had to become by the end of the film. When reuniting with Kevin, and when asked where he's staying for the night, the way Black just stares a moment and then turns up the music trying to impress Kevin. The pacing of that moment was just so perfect. There's still some of that awkwardness of 'Little' and Chiron in 'Black' that comes through. I really loved this movie, it was truly needed.
