That's what I was thinking! I honestly don't think there's many people on the planet that can do this one hand, what it is like 150kg? That's just ridiculous!
Another channel did one where they were lifting 235lb and I didn't have one so I made one out of a tricep bar and put 100kg on it and lifted it quite easy and the bar was smooth with no knurling so I think I could get 235 but 330lb? Sheeeeeit.

I think that you would need to be able to deadlift or squat 700+ pounds on a bar to be able to lift this 330 pound dumbbell with one hand. Doing a one legged squat or dumbbell deadlift with one hand would be harder than using both hands or legs on a bar with twice the weight. I was very impressed that Matt could lift the dumbbell with 2 hands. That is serious strength.

    • @Bruttus05
      @Bruttus05 2 года назад

This feat is more about grip strength. I have done a strapless 305lb one-arm deadlift (between legs). At the time, I was only able to deadlift 380lbs. My grip strength was disproportionately stronger as I was training for arm-wrestling and could close a 250lb gripper. A person with world-class grip (300lb gripper) could certainly lift this dumbell.

Obviously I’d never be able to lift such a weight but when I was doing dead lifts I found it easier if I tilted my head back and stared up rather than down at bar or even straight ahead.
    Weird I know.
I also found bench press easier if I lifted my feet off the floor and pulled knees up like as if doing crunches.
When I used to have feet firmly on floor I found I was arching my back and driving feet into floor.
    Which I found was
Wasted energy or at least re directed.

when i was a boy scout in the 70s the Guinness world record holder Paul Andersen came and did a demonstration in a church auditorium. he drove a large nail through a 2 inch piece of lumber with his bare hands and did a one arm snatch and press above his head with a 257lb dumbbell, and one other feat which i forget but Wikipedia lists a One-arm side press: 380 lb

This is great. In 1920 the one-handed deadlift world record was attained by Hermann Görner with 664lb or 301kg, so this is only half that much

The trick is this is a one-arm squat, not an upper-body exercise
Don't use your arms, or your back. 95% of the people are using their upper body
Grip the bar, and its all legs
If you have a strong grip, a strong squat, you can do this

Take the dumbbell to a zoo that has a silverback gorilla and see if he can lift it. Might need to get permission first.

    I want to try this.

The group now in bodybuilding are focused on looks. In my day, we were focused on strength, not how massive you can look.
