- Anthony Hopkins as Donald Campbell during the last few weeks in the life of the legend who in 1967, famously crashed his craft "Bluebird" while trying the break the three-hundred-mile-per-hour barrier on Coniston Water.
This is a hard film to get hold of so hope you enjoy watching.
Part 2 • Across the Lake pt2
Part 3 • Across the Lake pt3
This is a copy off a VHS video recorded of television when the film first aired in the UK.
I have tried to clean up the film, and increased it to HD, this is purely to show what I, as a basic pc user am capable of, and is not intended to infringe, or claim any copywrite.
Best quality copy of this film I have seen. The subject is of particular interest to me & Coniston is a place of pilgrimage & happy personal memories, intertwined with the Campbell story. Thank you.
I was a child when Donald Campbell died...it was a great loss...glad to see this ,Thank you.
Anthony Hopkins one of the great actors, and great supporting cast always helps.
I have just visited Coniston and the lake it’s beautiful
Thank you! ❤
My favorite actor ❤️
This film was cast so very well, if you find photos of Leo on here and compare the looks of the guy that played him in this brilliant film. Sir Anthony Hopkins was I think the only actor that could have played the part Of Donald, long before the days of The World's Fastest Indian.
There is a full size model of the Bluebird in the small country town Dumbleyung in Western Australia. Impressive!
It was a traffic accident in the end when he next did the test ! My father saw it as I used to live in Kendal the lakes ! Brilliant tribute toI him
Loved watching this, thank you .......
So looking forward to watching this film.
Superb thankyou 😊
The first "little shop of horrors" was not a musical, Anthony Hopkins started in it, it was a horror film. Black and White film..
What GIANT actor!🌟👍✨
Perhaps it was Malcolm Campbell's death.. but it was the age of technology and I was 6 or 7...Thanks again.
The Bluebird car and speedboat certainly were very exciting looking machines. But I wouldn't go as far as to call these chaps that risked their necks for records "heroes". What they did was comparable to barnstomers or F 1 pilots or even climbing on the highest mountain top in the world. Dangerous risk taking exploits, high entertainment value, but not really an important added value to mankind. A fireman who saves a crying kiddie in a fire while risking his life, special forces knocking out terrorists who have kidnapped the passengers of a plane etc., now they are heroes. Both categories certainly are "brave" men and today women, but there is nevertheless a clear distinction between them. Most heroes also remain in the shadows, don't become legendary icons like the more dashing barnstormers and record breakers.
I'd agree. He was following his ego - nothing heroic about that. It was all about HIM.
Thought it was the lake district then saw the sign for coniston
Coniston is in the southern lake district
Shearling coat I want one
Anthony Hopkins hmm 🤔
Most hated actor
