    We need to stop announcing MVP in middle of playoffs. At the end of regular season there was not a single player who could guard Jokic and Denver was looking scary af.

      True. It's a regular season award which means it should be awarded once the regular season ends.

    It didn't matter who won it between Jokic, Doncic, or Alexander. But Jokic has led in ALL advanced stats in the last 4 years. Jokic literally carried this team.

    Well okc and nuggs have same record at west, they like share 1st place. But lets be honest, yeah SGA is great with 30+ pts, but that is not even close with Joker pts+rbds+ast.... + all other stats... SGA only better in pts and stls

    I mean Jokic won 2 MVPs with no TV Media coverage. Only this season as champions did Denver get some TV games. So, its possible even without the media coverage, but takes longer. Jokic built his case over the number of years. Do you remember those years before he became an All Star? He was clearly an All Star caliber player, but it took him years to get there. So, Shai is progressing faster then Jokic actually.

  • @blankeon6613
    @blankeon6613 22 дня назад +6

    Jokic is clearly the MVP. Without Jokic, the Nuggets are a bottom seed team. This is why Nuggets are struggling against the Timberwolves, he cant carry this team to another championship, nobody can.
    Pretty sure Hakeem and Jokic are the only players to win a championship without playing with another All-Star.

    • @alfasiger4178
      @alfasiger4178 22 дня назад +1

      Hakeem, Jokic and Jordan. Pippen was not an all star 4 of the 6 years they won rings. Also, Pippen had back issues in 98. What Jordan did for the Bulls in 97-98, is what Jokic is doing now for Nuggs. Murray and Porter is just to inconsistent and unreliable and its showing again. DEN could get 25-30 pts a game from Porter, buuuuutttttt........

    • @sinhnguyen8135
      @sinhnguyen8135 21 день назад

      @@alfasiger4178People forget how diminished Pippen was on that 97 and 98 championship. His D was still decent, but his O was terrible and inefficient.

    You've never been more wrong Zach. Scoring isn't the only relevant stat in being most valuable. Why do you media members think the leading scorer is always the best player?

  • @gazibengazi
    @gazibengazi 22 дня назад +2

    When Embiid fell out of the MVP race, Jokic built the strongest case, also because everyone felt they owed it to him from last year. Meaning that no matter how well he plays next year, he won't get the MVP. Certainly, well deserved.

  • @svarozjov
    @svarozjov 21 день назад +1

    With no disrecpect to SGA, he is, by my oppinion, definetivelly currently 3rd best player in the NBA. But to understand the differance between Jokić and SGA, and why it is not even close, you need to go a little further than simple stats and rank list placement. If you look at advanced stats, you will see Jokić gives 25 points per game, but also directly sets 60 more, participating in 88% of offensive actions both with ball or without ball, with 40+ minutes on the court... SGA is giving 30, but when you look how many he sets for teamates, or how many opportunities he produce for his teammates by his off-ball effort, it is not even 40% Jokić is doing.
    So, you can kick out SGA and put some other shooter of the same calibre in the team, nothing or very little would change in OKC. But if you take out Jokić from Denver, and put the next best of the best in that position, everything would crumble, because you automatically loose all that active and passive creativity for team Jokić is delivering every night, who can score only 10 pints in the game and still leave the court as absolutely best player in that game... That is the definition of MVP, the player that is most valuable for his team, and you would yourself agree, watching from that angle, that SGA is not more valuable for OKC than Jokić for Denver. That is the value that by large margine transcendent individual greatness of both of this two players -- they are both currently gratest players as individuals, and they both radiant their greatness to their teamates making them better, but the SGA is 40 kWh bulb, and Joke is stadium reflector beam.
    And that is hard not to see if you are not Nick Wright or Perkins or simillar basketbal "geniouse"... That is very easy explanation why SGA is not even close in voting, although performance, stats, effectivness ect. plays just a part in MVP selection, there are also acolites, public appearance, stuff that are out of game, but makes 40-50% influence on voting (and there I agree with you, SGA is still kind of invisible, but this is his 1st year of high performance and this is recently OKC's 1st year to make great result during season, so his time is yet to come in that regard...)
    P. S. But I can guarantee you SGA time is comming, if he keeps it like this, he will earn it for sure in next 2 years. He would never overpass Jokić values,due to simple Joke's physicallity (people forgeth Joke is first and most center and rebound machine, and SGA is simply not that possition, so he would never be able, or better say in possition, to compette in that segment of game with him), and Joke's passing abillities, that are so high exactly because of his height and strength (imagine SGA try NFL pass from line to line), there is good chance for him to get it, because every incoming MVP reward would be: "Oh, Good, is there someone, anyone, to whome we could give it instead of Jokić...", same as last year Embiid got it, without any merits from his side (last year, beside Joke, there was many players far better than Embiid...), I might say, becasue it would be to much to give Jokić 3 in a row. So, by that logic, SGA, if nothing changes, is getting one in next 2 years for sure, and it would be far far far more deserved than Embiid's...

    There’s no doubt that Jokic was robbed last year, and was the obvious MVP. Conference MVP. Finals MVP. Team had a better record than the year before, and his stats were historically crazy.
    They gave it to Embiid due to “voter” fatigue. Not a noble reason to disregard and acknowledge dominance.
    This year…no brainer. Should be 4 in a row

    Some perspective on Luka’s 73 point game. Kidd took him out the last like 8 minutes of the 4th for some reason. The way Doncic was shooting, he could’ve racked 90.

  • @CoreyScott
    @CoreyScott 18 дней назад

    First of all, our record was in fact even with OKC. Giving SGA credit for leading the first place team is legit, but giving him an edge over Jokiç for being #1 seed vs. #2 is bunk when both teams had the same record. That's part of why Shaq's tantrum was so ridiculous.
    But I absolutely agree that we need to stop announcing regular season awards half way through the playoffs.

  • @mihailottomic3416
    @mihailottomic3416 20 дней назад

    People are still underestimating what happened last year with the MVP; this year, they gave it to Jokic. Also, when talking about points per game, people don't consider how many shots and free throws it takes to get 30 ppg. If the player with fewer shots and free throws comes close to that number, that player is more efficient and better. Besides that, if that player makes everyone around him better, then the case is closed. He is the MVP!

    As a Lakers Fan. Jokic cooking my team for the last two years, on top of that as well as SGA played, he got a great effort from J Dub and Chet has helped them from being the 10th Seed to the 1st. But to discredit any of the Top 3 is ridiculous. All of them deserved it in someway.

    Announcing it during the playoffs is awkward because it just gins up all kind of nonsense debate on social media because people are reacting from a state of recency bias. I agree that OKC and SGA were diminished by the mainstream media. I guess I'm glad that Jokic got it, but I don't care that much. I'd rather win a championship than an MVP. Last year Jokic was robbed of the award and we won a ring, this year he gets it, but it's looking bleak for Denver. The former is preferable to the latter, full stop.

    I think that only in the case of SGA-Joker among all the candidates the first place is not an important criterion because if we are already weighing then let's take into account that they have the same win lose performances !! and 1st place in that case is only a better playoff position.. if we compare SGA with the other candidates, 1st place is a significant plus in SGA favor !! so, if SGA had only won one more or if Joker had lost one less (spurs at the end, for example) the place at the end of the season would be an important detail, while it is completely irrelevant like this, awarded due to a better mutual score that does not necessarily influence to their MVP race !! no one expected OKC to be first also has nothing to do with common sense as an argument often mentioned in favor of OKC, man.. this is the NBA, when you play in that league ( the best in the world) , no one should be surprised !! and one more thing...yes, national covering and big scene is very important but we all have internet and if you really interested in mvp case you can easily get informed!!cheers ztay

      This is my take, MVP.....spell it out, and it says most valuable player.
      To who? One might ask. Well to the team of course. If I were to take out Luka and SGA out of their respective teams. I can still see the Mavericks continue to be formidable, especially with Kyrie.
      For Shai, yeah I can see the Thunder struggling but they can still stand on their own.
      Take Jokic out and that Nuggets team will be in shambles. Murray can't carry the team for the whole game. He's too streaky. But credit where cresit is due, when he gets hot, he's arguably the best closer in the league today. But his hot streak and cold spell go back and forth between one another, that it isn't that reliable anymore.
      Bottom line is, with how the Nuggets are essentialy tied in score with the first place OKC. Jokic is way more valuable to the Nuggets in terms of his impact on their team's success compared to Luka's impact in winnig for the Mavs and to Shai's OKC respectively.
