    someething i've noticed only with some british coaches, but why do some of them tend to have the top mirrors, but also acompanying it the driveside left mirror?

    Since Plaxton is owned by New Flyer MCI United States Canada the United States version featuring a torque converter standard automatic transmission Alison B500. My question is this how come coaches in Europe don't use converter automatic transmission? Is an automated manual transmission better than a converter automatic on Highway coaches in Europe?

      Im not a mechanic but i think the "real" automatics don't age too well.
      We have got a Mercedes minivan thats 20 odd years old and the auto gearbox is totally knackered, gears are fine its just the automatic nature, torque converter etc, is totally buggered. To me the torque converter is a needlessly expensive piece of equipment over a clutch in a "semi auto" gearbox.
      And to be honest my limited experience driving a automatic (our work van thats a few years old) they are pretty sketchy, you feel like you don't have much control, especially driving uphill.

      @@finlaymcdiarmid5832 thank you for telling me about this do coaches that run on the motorway in the UK do they use torque converter or the more fuel efficient semi automatic gearbox. States and Canada it's the other way around most of the highway coaches a torque converter gearbox instead of a semi-automatic gearbox

      @@EpicThe112 well i think pretty much all new volvos are I shift. 95% of ours are, just some older coaches that might not be.
      the alexander denis buses might be bog standard automatic i don't know though. All ive heard and seen about them is that they rot like crap. I mean we have a panther training bus that's probably pushing 20 years old and it looks golden underneath, ANY denis older than 5 years old is absolutely rotten. Its like being under a bus made of out of date doritos it looks that bad! they seemer to be just worse made in general compared to volvo chassis.

      @@EpicThe112 enviros (Alex dennis) use voith gearboxes. Allisons and ZF's are optional but i think its mostly voith and ZF, i don't know why you would pay more for imported Allisons.. don't think they have any factories in the EU.

      I don’t think they’ll ever offer and integral chassis most operators prefer them on Volvo chassis

      I believe this is because of innovations within engine technology meaning less engine size now produces equivalent power / torque, correct me if I'm wrong. :)

      Biggest bus engine ive heard of was in the megaliner. 15ltr V12, monstrous thing.
      Now i think most tri axle coachs are headed for the 11 to 12ltr range, 13's seem to be alot sparser.
