The Bill Episode 397 Part 1

Jack Meadows puts surveillance on Joel Gates and seeks permission from DCI Frank Keane to watch Carl Caplan in the hope that they will incriminate themselves. His request is approved - but for twenty-four hours only. Smithy's application to attend Louise Larson's funeral is denied. He risks an assault charge when he beats Marty Jonson up for setting fire to a picture of Louise.

I love Smithy but I think when he is attacked by johnson they should have held him under the water for longer until he was unconscious to add more drama to it. They aren't roughing him up enough to be realistic.
