I will always love Marius Goring but I keep forgetting to mention Stanley Van Beers as this frustrated Chauvelin. He's so fun in his slow burn outrage. He added a lot to this series.
@@hungrydragonvsfrightendhob7799 Would you say he was underrated in the UK? I said something like that on a movie fan board and a lot of people responded that he was very popular there. Here in the US he isn't well known by name.. that odd name of his. I have to tell family and friends who I'm talking about when I mention his work.
After being newly introduced to this series and having watched a few episodes, It seems they shot the same episode a dozen times over, including reusing the same costumes for the court scenes.
Interesting, so he's a diplomat, which means he's always being watched by the host's intelligence service, including here the French Secret Police no doubt, but it *would* accord him some protection from being executed. However, should he be declared Persona Non Grata, and he refuses to leave, he could then be executed as an enemy agent, or imprisoned. Granted, Sir Percy is taking significant risks, but I strongly suspect he's motivated by his conscience to resist this administration of murder in cold blood.
Darn it, the actor Robert Shaw played Pimpernel's cohort in the 1st episode and I was hoping to see him as a regular but he wasn't in this one...too bad.
I love seeing Pat Troughton in other roles after seeing so much Doctor Who.
I just watched the 1934...Leslie Howard, 'Pimpernel'. I had no idea there Had been a TV series.
@Dindo Nuffin The 1982 film version is best of all.

Marius Goring - such a versatile actor with charisma
Very underrated
He's also got a good set of lungs and a fine voice.

@@pacmanattack2531 I meant I'm the US. No one's every heard of him here, at least in my experience.
So very happy this series is avalible!
The Pimpernel's facial expressions oftentimes remind me of Dana Carvey.
They are hilarious fake drunks 😂 lol
