Well, I'll try to share movies and episodes with Pat Troughton and Marius Goring - two of my favourite actors.
Mr Perrin and Mr Traill (1948)
An elderly British schoolmaster is upset when a new teacher comes to the school and is an immediate success with the boys. The older man thinks he isn't getting the respect he deserves.

Tense until the end. I won't tell you who dunnit, but keep your eyes on the Bleeding Butler! Regards to all fellow fans. England, September, 2024.
Oh, the nitpicking and micromanagement of these supposed intellectuals really shows how petty and cruel some are behind closed doors.
The world sure has changed a lot since 1948 ! 🤔
*Why did Det. Sgt. Hawkins leave the train compartment after Sidney Fleming had confessed to the murder to Philippa Shelley, giving the murderer an opportunity to almost murder Ms. Shelley, I wonder.*
People spoke so beautifully back then!! We are devolving! 😢
Marvellous film. Although The Head was a bit of a stinker his system did indeed manage to produce a boy of character in Rodgers.
If anyone is looking for a funny, just out of Prohibition, so a lot of fun drinking and the couple are Myrna Loy and William Powell, absolutely my favourite couple and they have fun. Take a look and you won’t be disappointed 😊
Greta Gynt was beautiful and a very good actress. Sultry and emotive.
Brilliant. Thank you for posting this gem.
Here for the beautiful authentic English accent 🔥💯💯
Good Lord, this is a sort of postwar counterproduction of "Goodbye, Mr Chips". How things changed so quickly in those days, for both good and evil. Still, it shows the ultimately good nature of people after years of evil times. As the son of parents who grew up with this sort of cinema, I would like to thank our host for putting up a gem that I've never seen but delights nonetheless.
Gripping to the end. Brilliant film. They don't make them like that anymore.
The "private school experience" is a genre all its own. The British do it very well of course.
Wonderful & even splendid parts to this film. OMG what terrific English actors. Hugh Walpole was the author.
I like that he called that student a beast😅
Why did that foolish woman go alone to Edinburgh to see a possible murderer in a deserted school?
Good movie 👍
They don’t make them like this anymore….How lovely ..Not a swear word in sight….I am 84 and I remember these days well. x?
Really enjoyed this movie.
Very good movie ….. very much on the Alfred Hitchcock style of the time.
Lots going on there.
Unusual but compelling story, thank you.
Of course they’d all be madly in love with the nurse. 😁
Quite an impressive film. Goring was superb and displayed a versatility that was unknown to me after his type casting in so many other films.
Watch the British actor Nigel Patrick he's the Best ?👍🏴
Brilliant movie
One of the most sinister somber movies of the 40s I've seen - Perrin's descent was unbearable to watch with a frightening ending that came out alright but still - a disturbing, unpleasant and not partic likable movie - but marius goring delivers as always.
THANK YOU FOR THIS MOVIE!!!
This movie brings back Memories..I dont know how many times i was Strapped.. because of those APPLES and ORANGES..Just didnt get it😅😅
NUNS WERE MY TEACHERS..MOST OF THEM WERE OLD AND SEVERE!!!
Teachers had to put up with kids like me who hated the place. Some did it with class. One old Queen who caned me literally for nothing, absolutely shat himself when he saw me in real life. 😂 And I saw tough Mr Wilson recently who I could have knocked over by just bumping into him. 😂 Anyway , they have a shite job. 😂
What not to enjoy, great script and great acting.
Every odd at 1956 minutes that movies title shows up. What was this some type of tv series?? Every odd, but it's a good movie.. Mr Perrin was crazy 😂
At 2.40....surely the character in the middle (Sir Anthony Dewhurst) is Robert Shaw ?
Moderately entertaining. Spoilt somewhat by the unexplained presence of the London Police detective on the train from Scotland ..... when the Police could have no idea about the clue Mts Talbot was pursuing.
Fabulous acting by all
I actually watched this by mistake because I somehow thought it said, "Take my wife..." (please.)
I see a lot of similarities to the author, J. K. Rowling's Harry Potter and the Hogwarts school. Note the stripped scarfs and caps on the students plus the focus on football practice which is similar to Quidditch, as well as, the bizarre boarding school and eccentric faculty. Perhaps the author acquired some characteristics from this film as a foundation for her Hogwarts. Idk. Just sayin'! It seems very likely though. She just put a spin of wizards and witches on broomsticks to it.
Thank you for uploading this gem of a film.
Fabulous movie!
Humans are the same no matter where we’re from. Good, evil, prideful, hopeful and wonderfully made in Gods image. I love the classics and yes, especially British ones. You Britain’s are Brilliant!! Thank you so much for sharing this gem.
Actually, God was made in man’s image. Just read how violent and jealous and angry. The God of the Old Testament is.. certainly not an entity I would admire
@@Wisepati I believe those of us in The West are more informed by the New Testament, it's probably long overdue that we left the Old to God's bloodthirsty Chosen people.
Thank you so very much for making this lovely film available. It's 2024 and it's near impossible to find film that isn't filled with violence , nudity and poorly written scripts. I was able to escape into a world long past. The acting and the music were excellent. I hope to find more films such as this.
well said,

Yes 💯% 👏
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼Definitely!! I pay AUD$20 per month for no ads on RUclips and I think it is worth every penny.
The name RODDY must be an English name like Mark here in the US❤
Ah, pre NHS. 24.57 "Do I pay for this". Great film.
I thundering good film. I need to buy the book. Unfortunately any teacher who dragged a boy to the stove today would probably lose his job. This film has a lot of the spirit of the times, the huge Labour majority, independence for India, like the Norman wisdom films. Wanting a "wind of change" blowing away the stuffiness of the old ways. Here is a funny thing: I feel that I want to say to the conservatives and reformists of those days: make up and unite because the against the vulgariity, stupidity and inelegance of the modern age we need a united front.
Enjoyed it very much.
@8:50~ Let any modern "teacher" spring such eloquence (If any there be that can) upon today's school children and they'd either stare blankly, or brutally attack 'he/she/it' for their rudeness.
Mommy dearest is the worst of them all
Very beautiful story and good movie
I liked it a lot, thank you. I have subscribed and hope to find more of THE FINE STORIES AND ACTING OF THIS SPLENDID FILM.
every English script includes the phrase"rally I do"...bugs bunny thanks you
