That is why he knows what happened to Logan at the end of Days of Future Past. It is also quite possibly the reason why his mind breaks at some point in the future. The touching of his mind to another X’s and the existence of this paradox was too much even for his considerable mind. It begins to breakdown. Latino Sci-Fi Geek none of it was stretches the movies make more sense than people realize and the retcons are just stupid little details placed in bad movies making them look bigger than they are.
@@Backtothezack Oh you mean the two versions of Nighcrawler, Moira, Emma Frost, Angel, Senator Kelly, Jubilee scattered across imcompatible time periods? Or the three versions of the Phoenix Force (including the one that Deus Ex Machined Apocalypse)?
@@Backtothezack That's not how alternate timelines work! Also, isn't Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix supposed to be on the same timeline? Or does every new movie get a new alternate timeline totally disconnected from the others? In that case a video coming up with excuses like butterfly effect and Magneto rebinding Wolverine's Adamantium off screen in ordem to logically connect them would still be considered a stretch, dont you think?
Latino Sci-Fi Geek whose to say you can dictate how alternate timelines work? The butterfly affect can work in many ways causing characters to be born in different ways at different times and can even cause some to never be born at all, in the end it was just their way of cleaning up the timeline to the best of their abilities and to be able to reboot it without taking it out of their established universe, even though it lead to duds such as apocalypse and Dark Phoenix which do take place in the new timeline rather than the the original where apocalypse was never awoken and the Phoenix was a different entity altogether.
It was a mistake having Xavier be crippled in _First Class_ . Obviously, they undid it in the next movie--badly--but beyond that, no, you don't need to completely set up everything in a prequel. Case in point--Solo. It makes ZERO sense that Han got his name, got his blaster, met Chewie, met Lando, got the Falcon, ran the Kessell Run, blah, blah, blah, all in a single adventure. Characters aren't the product of a single story, so it's is just bad writing.
When you put it like that the movies actually seem like a coherent story. When 'Days of Future Past' came out I rationalised it as following an entirely separate 'First Class' continuity, but then I realised that 'The Wolverine' references both so that doesn't really work. Mind you, the nonsensical franchise continuity doesn't really make a difference to the better X-Men films being as good as they are.
Great work, the one little divergence I have though is that I personally believe Logan happens in yet another alternate reality. This is the one that would’ve happened had the events of Days of Future Past never occurred in the regular timeline. I see the movie as an alternate ending of the original continuity.
I love when you guys do stuff like this. Marvel may be able to improve on the Fox treatment, but I think taking a 5 year break is a good idea. They need to make want the X-Men again.
Deadpool is honestly just a parody on the X-men universe, I used to say that it took place in the X-men universe, just in present day, but now I just see it as fun stories that take place in a Deadpool version of the X-men universe rather than the actual X-men universe which happens alongside each other. Noticed how you left out Gifted and Legion, I think both shows take place in separate universes as well but Legion has the possibility to be in the X-men universe, they are including the team, specifically Xavier, in season 3 and I’m excited to see where they go with it.
There are just as many movies that i love and wouldnt want to live without from the xmen franchise as there are from the mcu. Definitely greater consistency within the mcu, but the xmen franchise operated with high risk which allowed it to achieve as well as suffer.
X-Men Weapon X Plus is set in timeline in the mid-80s talks about the super soldier program Weapon X that's where the cannon really sets into the mid-80s.
After Capt Marvel, I have no faith Disney can do better with X-Wahmen. Expect flat characters, Mary-Sues, stereotypes, man-bashing, and derivative/formulaic plots. But if Disney would stay out of it, then there's actual potential to do things with mutants in the MCU. Picking up 15 yr to 20 yr after Endgame, it's found that Hulk didn't quite undo the Snap perfectly. Some people had genes altered or 'mutated,' and teenagers with mutant abilities start appearing around the world. In the MCU, the number of mutants would need tighter control/restriction than in the Fox X-Men universe. The stories would focus on teenagers discovering their powers, coming together as friends & a team. While sounding like sacrilege, the roles of Xavier and Magneto should be diminished since we've already seen so much of them. Rather, this is a chance for the rest of the team--Kitty Pryde, Colossus, Cyclops, Jean, etc., to shine as an ensemble. It should be patterned after the early X-Men comics--and Jean should *ABSOLUTELY NOT* be portrayed as having anything to do with the Phoenix or even being much in the way of telekinesis. Rather, I'd prefer her to be a regular telepath at first (just like those original comics.) It would have many parallels to _First Class_ (which isn't a bad thing), but the main difference is these teenagers learning their place in a world already imposed on by superheroes. Once they are established by a couple movies, they having cemented their team & become recognized & the Brotherhood broken away, _then_ the Mutant Registration Act would be introduced as a direct offshoot (and slippery slope) of the Sokovia Accord. It would lead into the traditional plot lines of the original X-Men movies. I would hope Genosha as a refuge would form out of the Mutant Registration Act and withdraw from the Sokovia Accord, which then connects X-Men & Avengers & maybe the A vs X story line. If so, then the MCU has the opportunity to do a Phoenix story right.
It makes sense when you explain it like this...to a point. But I would like to know what kind of moisturizer Xavier and Magneto are using because they look pretty healthy in Dark Phoenix considering chronology they should be much older. At this point they should should build it into their mutations that they age slower.
One problem, Logan does Not take place in the new post Days Of Future Past timeline. It actually takes place in the X-Men Last Stand timeline. There’s a deleted scene where Xavier mentions Logan killing Jean Grey. Since we know that never happened in the new timeline that means Logan took place in the previous one. The ridiculous bullet is another link to that timeline from Origins. While it’s not out of the realm that he could’ve got the bullet somewhere else the way it’s mentioned feels like a call back. Also Logan has the sword from The Wolverine in his room. So sadly no Logan doesn’t Not take place in the new timeline.
thanks for putting it all together. its such a confusing franchise. i was always put off after witnessing the inconsistent writing. i wonder why writing, continuity and overarching plots are such an afterthought for studios. i usually stay away from such franchises.

I like to think Apocalypse awakes in both timelines, just events happen differently. Evidence is Xavier is bald, and Storm has white hair in both timelines. Both of their hair (or lack of hair) is explained in X-Men: Apocalypse. Again just my own personal head canon.
Not to mention they didn't age between the 60's and the 90's, then suddenly in the 2000's (the first two movies) Xavier and Magneto are at least 30 years older, or the Deadpool version from Wolverine, or Mystique being a totally different character, etc........ Yeah, totazlly messed up, there is no consistencies in the franchise since X3, at least.
Well done gents, you have performed the augean task of making sense of the xmen movies. Tbf the comics got just as, if not more convoluted than the films and it will take a lot of skill to get them right in the MCU. The key will be Feige. If he sticks around then they have a chance. If he moves on and is replaced by, say Victoria Alonso (who seems to be positioning herself for a takeover) then God help us all.
I honestly think Disney/Marvel is not going to do the X-Men any better than what Fox did. The one thing that trips up the X-Men the most is their convoluted continuity.
Hopefully you, Midnights Edge, will someday find an explanation for the phoenix appearence in X-Men: Apocalypse even though in Dark Phoenix it's pretended like Jean Grey didn't already had these powers, this gets completely ingnored!
@@MidnightsEdge They could've found a way, maybe if Jean Grey's mom was one of those aliens that need or have the phoenix power like Jessica Chastain. X-Men Origins Wolverine climaxes with the 3 mile island disaster, March 1979. If we take Charles at his word, X-Men takes place 15 years later, in 1994.
@@MidnightsEdge Also, considering they go from a future of being hunted to extinction to a future where they die out from genetic pollution, the X-Men franchise might be the most nihilistic story line I've ever seen.

I’ve liked the X-Men films for the most part. I think The Last Stand gets more hate than it deserves. I really enjoy the Wolverine. X-Men, X2, Logan, and DOFP are among the best comic book movies ever made. First Class was a lot better than I thought it would be. No, I don’t think Marvel Studios will do a better job once they make their own X-Men movies. It all depends on the talent they hire and what stories they tell. They won’t be better by default just because Marvel Studios is making it, no matter how hard the MCU Fanboys want you to believe that.
It's sad to see the MCU basically write out the 50 States Initiative out of their future. That sounds like an amazing way to introduce a couple thousand new heroes and kick the MCU into hyperdrive.
I saw the dark phoenix film on monday an liked it very much! I thought it was the best of the x-men films. I also think it will make a profit after its world wide gross is added + the dvd sales etc. But that its budget was $200,000,000 is shocking though, as it should be half that !
Marvel will at least do a better job of keeping them consistent when it comes to continuity. Though my confidence in their ability to adapt the message of tolerance is more shaky these days given the open bigotry that is applauded in Hollywood under the guise of being woke.
Other than the accidental casting of Jackman as Wolverine, the entire series was trash and proved Fox had no fucking clue how make X-Men movies. Thank God Feige is now in control. We'll finally get faithful film versions of X-Men and FF.
The scene of kid magneto lashing out was so fucking ridiculous. The perfect combination of child acting and fuck logic. The only person he does not attempt to kill is the person he saw killing his mother which caused him to lash out.

Disney will be more accurate to the comics, and we'll keep better internal consistency. But, Disney will never produce a movie as good as Logan, or even Days of Future Past.
Theories suggest that Disney sabotaged dark Phoenix to save captain marvel as well as Kevin feige's vision to make dark Phoenix. If this is true, then I'm disappointed that we didn't get the dark Phoenix we deserve.
Those "theories" are wrong. Kinberg was incompetent and Donner, the only adult in the room at Fox, dropped out of the movie side of the X-Men after DOFP. Kinberg had two chances to do Dark Phoenix and failed twice.
The FoX-Men had some hits but mostly misses due to changing the stories and characters. Overall it's Mehh at best. I hope The X-Men are better in the MCU but with Identity Politics being pushed to the front, I have concerns for the quality of the stories. Time will tell.

Latino Sci-Fi Geek still doesn’t explain how its a stretch, it’s called alternate timelines
Excellent
Thanks. That constructed timeline brings some order to a big, confusing, frustrating mess.
Apocalypse really does look like a Schlock Clown. (cue Jay Bauman laughter). I can't think of anything else now whenever I see him on screen.
The vision that the one mutant saw of Wolverine’s death was what would happen in the alternate future. Brilliant!
As an x-men fan back in the early 90's, I hate everything about the x-men movies.
RocketboyX oh all of them? Bold statement.
Can't wait for this one!
What happen to black Trask in x-men 3 ????
All I say is: Great job. That works for me.
Gosh, I hate it when I need a PhD. in Temporal Causality Mechanics to understand the over arching timeline of a movie franchise....
X-Men Weapon X Plus is set in timeline in the mid-80s talks about the super soldier program Weapon X that's where the cannon really sets into the mid-80s.
Im going back to the Graphic Novels
What a disjointed mess. Logan was the best of that bunch.
Nah.
Nope. It was overrated. I think people just liked it because there was more bloody violence.
Overrated ? Hell no. Logan was the only film from X-Men series that wasn't a dumb capeshit for kids, making it the best from the series.
@@chujackam It's the only furthest removed from the X-Men...if that's your thing.
It didn't just die, it was murdered!
They should had made Dark Pheonix into Rated R rating to begin with (just like Logan & Deadpool) hence it bombed
You forgot that at end of Apocalypse where someone from Essex Corp taking Wolverine blood samples to create his daughter Laura (Weapon X23).
Honestly DOF and Logan seem to be 2 different universes. Kinda like Old Man Logan being separate from the main universe.
How should we watch the movie series....in order ....to get full feel of story?
Hey Andre Truth or Dare:
Truth - Admit that Space Jam is the best live action animated hybrid ever since Who Framed Roger Rabbit or:
Dare- Do long videos on history of Sonic The Hedgehog as a franchise (inc. comics tv shows and numerous attempts at movie adaptation etc.) and the history of Cartoon Network ( rise fall and rebirth) if you're up to the challenge.
YOUR CHOICE !!!
As Always keep up the good work
Space Jam was never good.
Even when you explain it, it still sounds a bit confusing because there are so many other plot holes and inconsistencies.
I like to think Apocalypse awakes in both timelines, just events happen differently. Evidence is Xavier is bald, and Storm has white hair in both timelines. Both of their hair (or lack of hair) is explained in X-Men: Apocalypse. Again just my own personal head canon.
Dude even this time line is missed up how is pro x in a wheel chair in the 70s but never mind
They outright say the movies have various continuity inconsistencies that can't be reconciled.
I always like you guys
Well done gents, you have performed the augean task of making sense of the xmen movies. Tbf the comics got just as, if not more convoluted than the films and it will take a lot of skill to get them right in the MCU.
The key will be Feige. If he sticks around then they have a chance. If he moves on and is replaced by, say Victoria Alonso (who seems to be positioning herself for a takeover) then God help us all.
we can only hope
Nice fan fiction bro. ;o)
I honestly think Disney/Marvel is not going to do the X-Men any better than what Fox did. The one thing that trips up the X-Men the most is their convoluted continuity.
I love the Fox dark tone.
Hopefully you, Midnights Edge, will someday find an explanation for the phoenix appearence in X-Men: Apocalypse even though in Dark Phoenix it's pretended like Jean Grey didn't already had these powers, this gets completely ingnored!
...as it must be, in order for Dark Phoenix to make sense. One of the many things that cannot be reconciled.
@@MidnightsEdge They could've found a way, maybe if Jean Grey's mom was one of those aliens that need or have the phoenix power like Jessica Chastain. We still don't know how those aliens are dealing with this power and if the mom is already someone who has dealt with this stuff, Jean could've be born with the phoenix power, and you know the alien mom falls in love with human dad, she doesn't say anything.....
Looking forward to the Marvel Disney reboot. And hopefully Dark Phoenix done right for once.
rather see a variation of the phoenix 5 at this point.
Kevin Jones - I’m thinking it’s time to put that story out to pasture for a long long time.
IF they do Dark Phoenix, Feige will take 10 years to build it up like Thanos, so that it actually means something.
Disney does not want a more stable timeline as we see with how they controlled the Star Wars franchise
2023 seems pretty popular with time traveling superhero movies
So excited for the third Timeline with Deadpool carrying everyone into the MCU

THE
X-Men Origins Wolverine climaxes with the 3 mile island disaster, March 1979. If we take Charles at his word, X-Men takes place 15 years later, in 1994.
Great analysis, except it still doesn't explain how Trask went from a 6'4" black guy to a 4'5" white guy.....(That's a hell of a timeline shift!)
As we said, some things can't be reconciled.
@@MidnightsEdge Heh, heh, yeah I know. I still find it funny none the less!
@@MidnightsEdge Also, considering they go from a future of being hunted to extinction to a future where they die out from genetic pollution, the X-Men franchise might be the most nihilistic story line I've ever seen.
I think X-Men Gambit is middle of the mid- between the mid-80s in the year Wolverine left William Striker middle of the 70s
the rat will mess it up even further than it already is.
Under Fox, there was only a joke about changing the name to X-Women; I'm sure Disney is already planning the X-Women film. It was laughable what they did in the final battle of Avengers: Endgame, bringing only the women together to charge into battle.
Can someone explain to me "Why Jane dead in Dark Pheonix, but she appeared in Days of Future Past" when Logan back to the future?
It's sad to see the MCU basically write out the 50 States Initiative out of their future. That sounds like an amazing way to introduce a couple thousand new heroes and kick the MCU into hyperdrive.
Oh ya disney will do SOOO much better. thanks for smoothing out the wrinkles with the timelines

What a sloppy mess of a franchise. Makes DC look coherent.
Terminator franchise - hold my beer
Other than the accidental casting of Jackman as Wolverine, the entire series was trash and proved Fox had no fucking clue how make X-Men movies. Thank God Feige is now in control. We'll finally get faithful film versions of X-Men and FF.
The scene of kid magneto lashing out was so fucking ridiculous.
The perfect combination of child acting and fuck logic. The only person he does not attempt to kill is the person he saw killing his mother which caused him to lash out.
And now it's plot has ended.
I have the key to a successful XMen reboot!!!!!
Wolverine
wolverine 2 the Wolverine
Wolverine 3 The Prequel to part 2
Wolverine 4 the sequel to part 1 the prequel to the prequel of part 2
Wolverine 5 the sequel to part 2
we all know it's all about Wolverine, cut the fat and get to the meat of the story......
the X-men movies were like pork chops, a small little circle of meat [Wolverine and a handful of key characters] and some fat [the other characters] and a mattive bone separating the meat from the larger portion of fat but the meat is still surrounded by fat.......
just the meat please lolz
@@Red_Lanterns_Rage nope. Legacies on CW. It's not my kind of show, but the premise is EXACTLY Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. I wouldn't be surprised if the creators are Xmen fans themselves. That's how similar it is. Marvel can do a show like that on Disney + as early as 2020 with a better cast, better writing, more money, etc. Audiences will be ready to see Xmen on the big screen as early as 2023.
Considering The last Jedi... yeah this ip is doomed.
In Feige, We Trust.
I always thought Angela Bassett would have made a Better Storm.
Sylvia t she certainly would have aged slower than hallie.
Demon theories can suck my ass
Those "theories" are wrong. Kinberg was incompetent and Donner, the only adult in the room at Fox, dropped out of the movie side of the X-Men after DOFP. Kinberg had two chances to do Dark Phoenix and failed twice.
That's Matt McGloin bullshit.
The FoX-Men had some hits but mostly misses due to changing the stories and characters. Overall it's Mehh at best.
I hope The X-Men are better in the MCU but with Identity Politics being pushed to the front, I have concerns for the quality of the stories. Time will tell.
I'd argue the franchise had more hits than misses
Hits- X-Men, X2, First Class, The Wolverine, Days Of Future Past (Both cuts), Deadpool, Logan, Legion, and Deadpool 2
Misses- Last Stand, Wolverine Origins, Apocalypse (I actually liked it, but I know many didn't), and Dark Phoenix (I haven't seen it myself, but it's disappointing a lot of fans).
@JMiller I have speaking about what I think of the FoX-Men. I think Fox did a poor job. I'm not detracting anyone who likes FoX-Men. I'm sure there is at least one movie I like that you think is garbage. Like Trick or Treat with Gene Simmons, I know it's crappy next to Carpenters Halloween but I watch both every October 31.
@@erickdraven4810 That's cool that you feel that way. Just responding with my own opinion. Part of the fun of debating.

As for the current _X-Men_ movies, I would say they were bad more often than they were good. As for what I expect from Disney, I expect worse.
I think that there should be No More X-Men movies by anyone.
With the way Disney has been lately with franchises with a lot of promise (see SW) I doubt they could make a movie of nothing but baby animal videos a major success on it's own
So glad its finally over. Good luck to Marvel Studios. I hope they don't go woke.

I've always included "Deadpool" in my X-Men chronology. Leaving those films out of this video is disappointing.
It's a mess and I stopped caring. Logan is our closure.
And if you ask if I have trust in Disney to do anything right? You gotta be kidding me.... No,... I don't.
X-Men is dead. Like Star Wars and Star Trek. Come to terms with it.
