    Beautiful little runabout ! Looks like a TOTAL blast ! Like a 66 mustang v8` in the water. My wife, girlfriend at the time, had a yellow glastron 16' in 1974 with a v8. Similar brazen experience ! Sooo much fun back in Boca Raton, FL !

    The 16 always looks like you’re wearing it not riding in it. Not much freeboard for rough water but lots of fun on small lakes.

    my uncle had what I heard was a 73 classic (18 foot left hand drive) white with red stripes, this brings back fond memories :) He warmed up his motor a bit, hit 75mph on Lake Michigan once and said that's fast enough...boat had a lot more to give but his body didn't xD No wonder these were big drug runner boats back in the days

      Not these, they were way to small for anything but tendering or a local lake. Drug runner boats came much later with much bigger boats. But you are right they are quick fun little boats.

    Boat's got attitude; I like it 😎! I knew by both listening & watching; the Sweet 16 had a few more tricks up her sleeve,,,,,,,😉. I ❤️ the old Donzi's; a Hornet III is on my list of things to do, along with a pre - 2000 Cigarette Top Gun! I owned a Firefox with a 640 hp Hawk Marine Merlin motor. I knew I'd lose 40 hp thru the TRS drive; so for insurance purposes this was why it said 640 hp on the dyno.
    In a perfect world I'd have a Cigarette TG, a Cigarette 33' Cafe cc/Ocean Hawk 33' cc (Chevy Tahoe vs GMC Yukon: same difference) & a Donzi Hornet III at the dock! With both Cigarettes it would be easier to have another person with you when you go out. With the Hornet, you can just jump in it & GO! No crew required 😎.

    This must be your first Donzi. Donzi's are not a great choppy water boat. They Love Glassy Water. They flip over less... Good Luck with it, it's a beautiful piece of moving Art ..

      There was still a lot of bugs to work out after that test drive.
      I've actually owned a couple of Donzi's over the years and I agree with you they like flat water. I have no reason to own one where I live to be honest but they are pretty boats and are attractive to restore.

    Got to change that fold down fishing seat to the correct bucket seat .

    • @finscreenname
      @finscreenname  4 года назад

      It's a 1966 and is the original seat. If the next owner wants to change it is up to them but I will keep it original.
      Thanks for watching.

      The Donzi 16' can have a V6 or a V8 with anywhere from 200 - 300 hp.

    That looked alittle rough riding, guess trim might fix, maybe just nature of the small beast.

    • @finscreenname
      @finscreenname  4 года назад

      It was a little rough but the real issue was I had the trim switch in upside down and kept putting the drive up instead of down and vice versa.
      Thanks for watching. 😊

    What top speed?

    • @finscreenname
      @finscreenname  Год назад

      I had it up to 54mph (gps) but didnt have a lot of time to fool with it and tweak it out. I figure there was at least another 3 to 5mph left. A neighbor's, son bought it and took it the Eastern Shore of Maryland to where the water is a little saner for a boat of that size. When they go away, I tend to not want to know what happens to them after they leave. It's better that way.
      Thanks for watching. 😎😎

    he should trim the engine in a bit and it would stop bouncing at speed.

    • @finscreenname
      @finscreenname  4 года назад +1

      The issue was the trim switch on the throttle handle was upside down so when I wanted it to go down I was putting it up and vice versa. A simple fix but it did screw me up on this ride. But that's what happens when you restore a boat and then take it on the first ride in 30 years.
      Thanks for watching.
