Yes it was me who you was talking to when I mentioned about making paper chains in school, it’s good to reminisce Hannah, and you are absolutely right parents can only afford what they can afford, I had a budget for each of my children and I spent the same on each child and my children were always happy with their presents 🎁 I think nowadays some children want everything but you can’t always get them everything, thank you for sharing your vlog xx
I feel like the pressure on parents is so huge nowadays, and as children grow up what they want gets more expensive with the gadgets and phones and consoles ❤️❤️
@my parents bought my children their main big present, And every year it was a new bike, And I will never forget the time my son age 8 at the time asked my mother if he could have a mobile phone instead of a bike, And my mum said “Not a chance you are to young for a phone” I said to my mum “kids are getting younger and younger and asking for a phone”, but he didn’t get a phone that year he got a new bike, but yes Hannah I do agree with you it is very expensive and very commercial xx
I honestly believe the more you spend on a child, the more they expect as they get older. No matter how kind, well behaved etc a child is, their expectations of the same amount each year won’t change because they just don’t understand the value of money when they’re little. I’ve always believed in quality over quantity. I wasn’t blessed with kids, despite always wanting them, so I threw myself into spoiling my nieces / nephew, but it was important to me to get them something educational, fun, crafty etc. As they got older I concentrated on things they actually wanted or needed. I learnt early on that if you overwhelm them, they’ll toss it aside never to pick it up again - but my niece & nephew from my eldest sibling have been brilliant from the get go. They’d spend all day gradually opening gifts, playing with it, writing down who gave it to them to write thank you notes later. They’d even have gifts left for Boxing Day, that way they didn’t get overwhelmed. Christmas should predominately be about family, spending it with loved ones, making memories & traditions etc. The lead up for little ones can be just as exciting as the big day! My mum had 4 kids, she wasn’t shy of getting gifts second hand, they were in brilliant condition & we knew no different! Kids don’t care, they’re just excited to have something new x
We definitely are trying to teach the kids that you get toys for occasions and not just everytime you go out, we are always teaching them to pass on and donate what they out grow, i definitely believe that christmas is all about memories and family time ❤️❤️ my kids love their tonie box and they love books and puzzles, colouring books and crayons xxxxx
I will never forget when one of my younger children was 12 i think the switch came out so it was brand new i couldnt afford that. He was so upset yes i got him the year after when brought it second hand from CEX. Its wrong that ppl were saying that to the lady i hope shes ok and strong. My oldest children were definitely easier to buy for
for us family birthdays are more important now our son is 19 and just has money for his birthday and xmas and we dont go mad on gifts i just do a bag of chocolate for him to go with his money :)
