    This is Northern Virginia - the most affluent part of the country. They are either lobbyists, government contractors, athletes (Redskins players) or have businesses that support all of these wealthy people.

      Trust me the average government contractor does not get paid enough to afford one of those houses we're making $22-34 an hour. Those houses are the CEO, lobbyist, guy who owns a government contracting company houses.
      Plus those look like the houses out west way west which is mostly tech people.

      My son lives in Central NY and works for Lockheed Martin. He makes good money but he has shit Healthcare. When he asked about it, he was told it would not be fair if big companies gave better Healthcare options. He had to switch insurance at the end of the year because a necessary surgery could not be performed under his previous insurance. Huge deductibles with shitty coverage.

      Yea…. Your average employee, say more than 95% of them that work at those companies DO NOT make that kinda cash. Maybe the very very top chief executives do and they worked very hard to get there. Btw..These operations supporting programmatic government contracts are typically way more efficient and productive than your inter-agency program. And they likely had to compete technically and financially with each other to win those program contracts.

      Yeah, but you live in the highest per capita income area and it’s all due to the fact all US taxes go to DC and not much come out - military, contractors, special interests, NIH, pentagon, Internet. I know for a fact. Cost of Living pay adjustment increases at way way higher than anywhere in the country except CA. VA-DC-MD makes me sick!

    I live in NoVa. The answer: lawyers, doctors, tech execs, management consultants, political consultants, entrepreneurs, government contractors. Hate to burst your bubble but very few politicians or government employees. Most can’t afford these houses. The ones who can made their money in the private sector first THEN went into politics.

    I'll be in a house similar pretty soon. I have no college education. I have no massive support from anyone. I was born into poverty. And I don't do anything immoral or something I cannot be proud of. When you actually care about your fellow man, make sure that you provide acts of service to many, and genuinely try to help and support those who need it, there is no limit to what you can do.

    I was born in DC back in 1944 and lived in the MD suburbs until 1956 when we moved to the Midwest. Picnicking in Great Falls VA was enjoyable in those days. It was beautiful and it was my maternal grandmother's favorite place. When I was young I sort of admired and envied the wealthy but now I'm content to live in the 912 sq ft home my wife and I purchased in May 1976.

      Exactly live in just under 900 square ft 1880 small historical speaking tennant farmer house orig 5 rooms a small bathroom was carved out & back porch enclosed (3 season type space) it's solid plain & home most of my 60+ years
      Why tear down solid built houses for cheaper products to build new ..status ??? dream..why put your excess money if u have any to work for you . People need to quit wanting to make humans like this all richer..

    Yo as a person in NOVA a studio can go up to 3K and a townhouse can go minimum 1.5M. Some areas are a lot more affordable where one bedrooms are at 2K but it’s gotten extremely difficult to live up here. It’s getting really bad even down in Fredericksburg and Woodbridge is getting pricer too. These people most likely got their properties way back because it’s almost impossible to find anything affordable now.

    I live here... this is like the Great Falls area.... high profile attorneys, tech business owners, etc.... yes Northern Virginia is right next to DC but there aren't a lot of members in congress that live on this side of the Potomac. They usually live in Tenlytown, Palisades, Capitol Hill, or waterfront

      These are families and professionals is all types of fields. We have Restaraunt owners and MGR'S, doctors, people who are staples on the local News and Radio, Lawyers, Landscape business owners.... u name it. A lot of entrepreneurs. Almost all of these houses contain families tho. These aren't areas where u find a buncha Celebs or high profile people. Most of these people are very hard working people who manage to rise to the top of their field.

    My FIL was a NoVa native. Born in Fairfax in the early 1940s. He watched it change from a small town to a metropolis. I cannot tell you the number of times I heard him say “what do these people do for a living???” In his southern accent. 😂😂 This reminded me so much of him. We really miss him. He’s been gone 11 years.

      @@randybonner9870 Low IQ take- many of these people bid you for jobs that already existed, and take half of your salary for doing glorified HR work, because they have "minority owned / woman owned / veteran owned" businesses that are more likely to win the bids. Walmart gives a ton of people jobs, but almost half of them are on government assistance- EBT effectively subsidizes walmart's workforce. The number of jobs created is not a relevant metric without context.

      You would be fricken surprised. I'm sure some have all that..but I went to school with some extremely wealthy friends. They had many chores. Cleaning, gardening, cutting grass and maintaining ponds, pools and hedges. Granted, my friends did do it. They really had no choice. Their parents were never ever home. Always away on business, or vacationing. Those homes were laden with drunk teenagers,sex, and drugs during those parental excursions....😢

Landscapers, mobile car repair detailing, au pairs, pet care, contractors, pool maintenance etc. If these people decided to downsize and live more humbly other people wouldn't be able to make their living off of them.

    I used to live in Northern Virginia. Yes, the homes are beautiful!! We had to move further down closer to Winchester to buy a 600k home which would have been 1.4M in Northern VA.

      I do not look down on anyone. That is not the point. I would like to have enough money to buy the paint and fabric for my bedroom. It's a mobile home and needs new underpining. We would just like to be able to afford the upkeep of what we have! It's not greed like rich people have. It's more like, we need to fix this so we can live here the next 20 years! Guess what?
      We cannot afford a darn thing because necessities are so outrageous right now, we have to put off the things we need, for year after year! People like you wouldn't get it because you a greedy heartless 🍑🕳 just like these people who are building these mansions. There's a difference between being jealous of someone about something and trying to understand why it seems like life is moving on without you. Everytime the economy has been "good" we still struggled. It's always something.

    Lol, I'm from, born and raised, there in Haymarket/Manassas area. I hear ya. Idk because we were farmers, been there since 1620, and we were poor. I got married and now live in TX. My parents still live there, but are retired teachers and only were able to live there as my Grandpa gave them land to build on, but they are on the farm and surrounded by homes like this near Bull Run Mountain.
