I think a fair compromise going forward is if you asked me to go on the trip, its expected that its your treat. This is giving guy asks girl on a date and waits for the check to come before letting her know she gota pay for her own meal ( happened to me). Yes i get the equality stuff and theres nothing wrong with going dutch but there needs to be sn understanding. Also his flights are likely paid for my his employer so why would he not pay for yours. That is weird girl.
If this is just an isolated incident between you and him, then learn from it and move on. However, if this is a pattern of behavior where he constantly puts himself first and doesn't consider your feelings then I would really think hard about marriage with him. I don't care if you had the money to cover the tickets, it's the principle. You're going to be his wife. He makes more money than you. It's his work trip.
