My issue was slightly different. I tried to change my username but when I changed my username with a method online suggested it wouldn't register that my account was the adminstrator anymore for changing the username. i wasn't happy that one of my documents i wanted to share online would have my real name on it because the program was registering my account name on my pc and hence I wanted to safe guard my personal information however in doing so I lost my admin privilege as the computer was only recognizing the old username.

@kara gyan You might be the admin of your OS, but that might not necessarily be the admin of the HARD DRIVE you are trying to make changes on. Go to Windows Explorer, right click on the Hard Drive you are trying to work/make changes on, select 'Properties', select the 'Security' tab, and make sure your account has 'Full Control' permissions.

What you do if you have a reg file that will not open "as admin..." ?? Its not even showing on the list its only show merge, and that do not work for any reason. I have looked and looked no showing how to fix, the text type dude type in a way you think it going some where but end in the same, Force to merge no matter what. My UAC controls doesn't even open. I ca'n't do anything that gives or has the UAC shield. Even when I download a program, I can't install it cause of the UAC shield. I can't backup or restore using the default system reset Windows 10 gives you.

@@strangegaming9340 That should work. That's what the tech did. My problem was, my PC wouldn't reinstall for me or restore due to UAC being a jerk.

SFC requires Run As Administrator to work.
If you can't run as administrator, you can't do 3rd option.
