The Eagles is one of the few bands in history where all band members have their own hit song, its a rarity to see bands with such talent all together.
Yeah, but unfortuately, some of them clashed with each other. So much for those egos.
@@maryaltshuller885you’ll see it in any band in history . Nothing new nothing old
More like queen where band members write their own hit
Except Bernie Leadon, who ironically may be the most musically gifted member of the group. I guess you could count Witchy Woman which he co-wrote.
@@marcusbradley4399I’d argue Train Leaves Till Morning is one of their best songs…
Best American Rock Group Ever

You got that right 👍
My favorite is "Take it to the limit"
Such a great voice of Randy Meisner! ❤❤❤
His voice just seemed ethereal to me. My soul seemed to leave my body.
RIP Randy Meisner. The world has lost an incredible human being & phenomenal musician. Your music will live on forever.
#TakeItToTheLimit 😢❤
Ahhh....yes! Loved Randy! What a voice! Just beautiful!
you are 100% right
You gotta love The Eagles. RIP Glenn Fry
Take It To The Limit is probably my favorite song from the Eagles. I love the high notes that Randy was capable of hitting. It saddens me that Randy hated having to sing it in concert and felt forced to do it. I don't know if he didn't realize just how good he was or if he hated being the front man. I wish that he could have enjoyed his performances more. However, there are many people in this world who don't want to be the center of attention. RIP Randy. I sure love you and your contribution to the music world. God bless ❤
That's my favorite too! Such a great voice and a lovely face ❤
From what I've heard Randy said the song was vocally strenuous and he was scared he would mess up the song Live. So, one night he just refused to sing and after an argument he left and was kicked out of the group
@mistyapril29 I have read about what happened that night. Randy singing "Take It To The Limit " would have been their 3rd encore. He refused bc he wasn't feeling well. When Glenn Frye insisted he sing it anyway, Randy poured a beer over Glenn's head. This is not the typical nice guy Randy was known to be. Obviously, he wasn't feeling well for whatever reason. It astounds me that Randy left and gave up any rights as an equal owner of the "Eagles ". He must have wanted out pretty badly to give up any royalties. IMO, Glenn was an egomaniac and caused many other issues including firing Don Felder. I'm certain that there are many other untold stories. I hope that someday, someone will speak the absolute truths and untold stories. Thanks for your comment 👍.
My fave as well
In interviews I've seen of Walsh and Felder, RM was suffering from some type of gastrointestinal problem (ulcers perhaps). In any case, I understand Meisner wasn't quite the "equal" partner that many assume, with Henley and Frey being more equal than the others. Given that Frey and Henley did the majority of writing I guess they have a good case. @@susanbrown4026
There may never be a more talented group of singer/song writers ever again.
THERE WILL NEVER BE.
So True!! 😤⚘⚘
One of the greatest bands of all time. Their music is timeless.
A. M. E. N.
Without any doubt, the Eagles .❤🤗❤
One of These Nights and Witchy Woman are 2 of my all time favorites.
Hotel California is one of my favorite albums ever! Every song is amazing!
@@marcusbradly5982 Yes Totally agree
Tragic that “I Can’t Tell You Why” and “Love Will Keep Us Alive” didn’t at least make Honorable Mention. Tim Schmidt is the reason why the 1994 reunion was even possible let alone actually happened. And those Tracks are badass!
I like "I Can't Tell You Why" but I have to be in the mood for it,but as for the latter song, but IMO it sucks big time.
How could these two be left out?!
@@earthlingsareinsane7193 Agreed. None of their post reuinion music was comparable to their 1970’s music. Get over it is also a pitiful attempt at songwriting
Another great one poached from Poco!
@@marcusbradley4399Yes, and I think it hurt that Randy and Don left in the 70s.
“One of These Nights” is probably my favorite song song from the Eagles. The guitar is is amazing 😍
Mine too. Don Felder's guitar work IS amazing! He's a first-rate, class-A player who never got his due.
RIP Glenn and Randy. Thanks for the wonderful music and memories
Take it to the limit is my number 1 by far for me .. Randy Meisner voice is very soothing and he’s very humble man .
RIP Randy
Totally agree!
Rip
75 years old I am They don't have groups like this anymore
RIP Randy! We will continue to take it to the limit
So True !! 😢⚘
Best songs of the 70’s RIP Randy ❤️👍👍
For me, the best songs of eagles is Love will keep us alive. forever my fav. song
Randall Herman Meisner (March 8, 1946 - July 26, 2023) was an American musician, singer, songwriter and founding member of the Eagles
He’s up in heaven harmonizing with Glen Frey right now. They are making new songs just waiting for the rest of the band.
The Eagles were probably the most talented overall band out there! They were all Stars in their own right Joe, Henley, Frye, Felder, Randy, Bernie, Timothy! They were All incredible!
Thank you for mentioning Timithy! Love all the band but he is an awesome singer also...
I think the only reason Seven Bridges Road wasn’t on here is cause it’s a cover
Erik Meisner had the best sounding vocals. Surprised you didn’t mention him.
Yeah.
This band represents one of those times when all the stars and planets come into alignment and,..
Not quite the Beatles, but closest American band to them.
This band "Eagles" kept me going...especially during our excursions during the bush war in Africa... Especially when the song playing was " Takin it Easy. " Hahaha... I am in my 70's now and still enjoy their music...I compare them to the other band called " Styx " Just fantastic bands...
EAGLES, ARE ESP. MY BAND FOR--WAS IN MY 20'S AND STILL IS AS I APPROACH 70. EVERY SONG SO GREAT THAT IT STANDS ON IT'S ON....I HAVE A PIC OF ME YOUNG HEARING "I LIKE THE WAY THOSE SPARKLING EAR RINGS LAY AGAINST UR SKIN SO BROWN ".
MY HEART IS SO HAPPY AS I LISTEN TO THEIR TOP SONGS AS I'M DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. THANKS GUYS FOR READING IF U DID! MY MIND AND HEART IS STILL BACK IN THEIR DAYS OF RACKING UP # ONES. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My top Eagles song is Lying Eyes.
IronDawg Yeh Lying Eyes is easily their best and most perfect song!
IronDawg YES!, I was so mad to see it at 10
It's my favorite by far, although I can admit "Hotel" is easily a technically "better" song. The lyrics in "Lyin'" are perfect.
Same with me
+IronDawg Mine too... Lyin' Eyes is such a gorgeous song. And it's sung by my favorite Eagle, Glenn Frey. RIP.
“Randy never realized just how great he was.”
- Joe Walsh
Rest in Peace, Randy 😢
There are two types of Bass Players:
The kind that stays with the band forever and the one who just doesn’t know what to do with his life.
@@lord_beethoven1169 Ask the guys in Poco; he quit them, too.
@@lord_beethoven1169 Is really sad what kind of life Randy went on to live. I just loved him and breaks my heart how things turned out for him. Seems maybe he was afraid of stardom and did not feel real secure with his talent even though he was amazing.
Take It to the Limit was IMO the band's anthem song and it had RM's signature all over it. His distinct voice made that song.
@@halibut1249Absolutly, Randy sings, lead on this and his high octive falsetto voice he takes it to a climax twards the end in a raging glory! ....and also in One,of These Night Randy's high harmonizing faksetto voice just soars over the others and clicka, with Don Henlys lead vicals,on the song.
Absolutely love the eagles, best band ever in my books
Couldnt agree more and anybody would be damned to try tell me otherwise!!!:-)
TOTALLY.
One of my favorites is "Try and Love Again." I love Randy Meisner's voice and lyrics.
I love that song.
Great song! My all time favorite Eagles song. ❤
This thing transports you back. Just memories.
8-22-2020 I was bummed out that I Can't Tell You Why wasn't on there. I love that song.
Hello Kathryn how are you doing today happy 😊 new year god bless you as you wished..
Me Too !! 😤💕
That's my favorite song too!!
"I Can't Tell You Why" should have been on this list. That song and "One Of These Nights" had crossover appeal which got play on R&B/Soul radio stations (way back in the day). Not an easy feat, but the Eagles did it! 😎
Exactly, those two are actually my favorite songs... and they didn't make the list???
One of these nights made it. Number 5.
I absolutely agree!
I was just an East Coast kid from Florida that joined the military and found myself stationed far from home in Southern California when I first discovered the Eagles. When the narrator said that California is a state of mind, I understood that with this band. I fell in love with all the songs that take me back to those good ol days driving through the high desert, along the coast or stuck in traffic on the 405.
A California band of members who weren't from California.
I'm only 17 but I've loved the eagles since i was no age. I only wish there was more music like this in today's society instead of the filth on our airways
Yes. I am ten years old and hate every modern song. Always liked this band though.
Uh, there is but you're too lazy too look for it.
I am 13 and I love the Eagles
You have a good soul Ronan,, and a good ear.. long life to you
Here from 2021, the "mainstream music" is still garbage
My daughter learned all the words to “Hotel California “ when she was only 4. I promised her that we would go see the Eagles in person. Of course, they broke up the following year. I got tickets for the “Hell Freezes Over” tour when they played in Charlotte. And they had to cancel it when Glenn Frey got sick. We finally got to see them and when the stage went dark the first three notes of “Hotel California “ rang out my daughter and I had tears in our eyes.
Sad but beautiful story.
Thank you, man. I appreciate it.
There is no comparison for this band, unique in talent and simple unmatched in every aspect of their music.
I have been listening to the Eagles from the start. I was a California original too. Listening to them in Steamboat Springs Colorado. Met them in California. I am 76 years old and still play their music all the time. I was devastated when they lost one member lost his long health battle. Love you forever Eagles!! No one can ever replace you in my😊heart. You music helped me through my stage 4 cancel battle.❤
I grew up in Steamboat and listened to the Eagles all the time
"Take it to the Limit" hands down the best of anything !!
Randy meisner sang that song The Best as lead hands down
Yup the 76 version by meisner
@@firewfire 1977 Capital Center!
Best of my Love.
When Randy’s nightingale voice sings in chorus “Sweet Darling” always makes my heart skip a beat, since I was a toddler!
Rest in Eternal Peace, Sweet Darling 🙏🏼🕊️❤️
Nothing compares to this down home laid back made in the USA music and the name the EAGLES, fly high and soar, make me feel proud to be an AMERICAN!!!!
Hotel California will never be forgotten. 1 million years later, the song will still be played.
Take It to the Limit is only 7th? Seriously??? Randy kicks major ass on this. What a gorgeous voice!
Should be number 1

Norwegian 68 years old bohemian here who is a huge fan of both The Eagles and Bob Seger. If I have to chose I guess it would be Seger but both are great!
I’m 70 & I agree!
Vince and deacon do a great job heard them last Saturday night
Well Don, Timothy & Joe are all in their 70’s now so you are right there with them !!
first band i saw live, glad i got to see them it was a once in a life time experience :)
C29Chris hell freezes over was great live
C29Chris I saw them live last year when they were in London. I was so pleased to see them live.

The Eagles are my favorite group. Loved Randy Meisner’s “Take it to the Limit”
Saw them in concert when I was 16 in San Diego, I'm almost 61 now. It was a great concert, will never forget that great day. I'm a huge fan of the Eagles!
And a very lucky person!
NONE BETTER BEFORE, OR AFTER, SIMPLY SUPREME.
One of the best and most talented bands ever. EVER!!!
THE BEST EVER, THE BEST EVER.
Eagles were the best incarnation of American popular music. Country roots, rock attitude, and those harmonies!
It’s sad because most modern kids may never get to hear this music and appreciate as much as some :(
John Boylan, who produced their 2nd album, was somewhat unimpressed with the group until one day during a break in the studio, he heard the group do their harmonizing exercise singing 7 Bridges Road a capella. He was struck by the harmony and told them that was IT...that was their sound. Those harmonies have been the key to their success.
@sundown l
Great taste. I wish all teens and young adults were introduced to classic/soft rock as you were probably by older relatives and friends. My sons are 25 and 20 unfortunately neither took an interest even tho I play alot of that genre at home and in my car. 😏😑
Agree...
@@TheSenatorSam you under estimate how diverse our generation is. (Gen Z)
I can not understand why Randy Meisner didn't want to do "Take it to the Limit" in concert, was a beautiful song and so well done by him, probably my favorite song of the Eagles, though many were so good it's hard to say for sure.
It is a beautiful song and should be much higher on this list. It’s also very difficult to sing and Randy may have been afraid that he wouldn’t sing well. It’s too bad, but thankfully RUclips has a video and it’s incredible.
Yes, Randy couldn’t always hit the high notes and it gave him anxiety. It was a fan favorite in concert and they liked to use it as an encore. Randy left the band after an argument back stage with Glen Frey when he refused to sing the song on a night when he didn’t think he could hit the notes.
Traveling for work, once went 100 miles out my way, just so I could " stand on a corner in Winslow Arizona"❤, and at 3am driving thru endless empty stretch between NM, and West Tx, Hotel California came on❤Started singing , Windows down, nobody else on the road, belting it out with the record...flashing blue lights.😞Speeding ticket ! No, sir not drinking, just singing to " Hotel California!" , well , ok then, keep it under 70! That's the power of the EAGLES!❤😇❤😇❤
Living in Arizona, I've had to go up Route 66 a few times. Always made sure we went up to Winslow so we could stand on that infamous corner.
Jackson Brown wrote Take It Easy but got stuck on the 2nd verse. Glenn Frey wrote, “standin’ on the corner in Winslow, Arizona, such a fine sight to see, there’s a girl, my Lord, in a flatbed Ford, slowin’ down to take a look at me” - arguably one of the most memorable lines of all time.
I can’t tell you why. Another great song not mentioned. There will never be another band like them.
I Can't Tell You Why was one of my favorite songs by the Eagles
and the only Eagles song I heard played on R&B stations when I was a kid. Sorry to see it didn't make honorable mention. Didn't find out about Hotel California until I was an adult listening to Soft Rock stations but I loved it the first time I heard it. So I agree that is definitely their #1 song.
Definitely one of my favourite 70’s bands.
Truly the greatest band of all time. Every single one of their band members were the lead vocals to an absolute classic. Ask 20 people their favorite Eagle’s song and and they’d probably give you 20 different answers. That’s how transcendent they are/were. No band can come close to having the number of sheer number of classics the Eagles have.
Top 10 does not do this group justice, they need a Top 20. Probably the only group in America where each band member could lead his own band!
One of them
Greatest band of all time
Exactly talent all around
Not only could they..each one DID lead their own ban.
They’re a boring band with some good songs
The Eagles...a timeless masterpiece!! 👍
When you think of why this is true America, think it was the blend of Henley (Texas country) and Frey (Detroit Mo Town) which became the California sound! Think of that! Amazing!
I loved take it to the limit one more time. His voice is so beautiful and I can't get enough of this song
Hello Nancy how are you doing today happy 😊 new year god bless you as you wished..
Lyin' Eyes is one of the greatest songs of all time.
Lyrically their best song.
Reminds me of eleanor, thanks for the memories.
Definitely much higher than 10!
Absolutely.
Their best song in my opinion.
"Love will keep us alive" the unforgetable song of the band
And hotel california
So True. 😤💕
They were a band made of front men which rarely works but when it does its magic💗

RIP Glenn Frey 1948-2016
Was a hippie kid hitching the west coast in 1977, saw them in Oakland with Heart, Steve Miller and Foreigner. Those were the days man !
Without "I Can't Tell You Why", I don't agree to your selection. In every concert, people always wait for this song.
Hotel California is your number 1 simply because of don felder’s amazing guitarwork!
Eagles is easily one of the all time top bands in the world!
Agreed! Also "love will keep us alive" Timothy Schmitt
Miss Glen Frey beautiful voice! No more wonderful voice have i heard!
I wholeheartedly agree.
I have driven many thousands of miles to the tune of Eagles songs over the years! And one nice thing about listening while driving is that no one can hear me sing along!
Hello Diana how are you doing today happy 😊 new year god bless you as you wished..
What an awesome band. One of my all time favorite bands, RIP Glenn.
you could through these 10 songs in a hopper and pull them out one at a time in any order and no one could argue with the choices. All of them are great and each one brings its own set of memories.
It’s impossible to pick a single favorite. The Eagles laid down the soundtrack of my life. Every song meant something in one stage or another. I often felt like they knew me.
Hello Connie how are you doing today happy 😊 new year god bless you as you wished..
I grew up listening to Eagles music...it always brings back fond memories whenever I hear their songs. RIP Glenn Frey...thank you for the music.
Glen was so cute when he was young and no slouch when older either... R.I.P. GLEN .....LOVE ALL THEIR SONGS
There is no doubt that The Eagles is my absolute favorite band. Admittedly part of that has to do with original band member, and bassist Randy Meisner. Randy is my age and was born and raised 6 miles from where I lived in Western Nebraska. I never knew him personally, but frequently would go to listen to his very popular regional band, The Dynamics. I don’t know why Randy left the Eagles at what I thought was the peak of their success, but he returned home to Mitchell NE, and the farming life. Whatever you might say, Randy Meisner has talent.
“Beautiful faces, and loud empty places……. Look at the way that we live”
Take It to the Limit, and a true gem, in my opinion, Journey Of The Sorcerer. My favorite Eagles tunes.
Probably the best American band ever. So many hits so much individual talent. I'm so lucky to have seen them this past summer. Good list but my number one will always be Take it Easy!!! I missed Randy though. His classic Take it to the Limit might be my #2. RIP Glenn "Shake it, bake it, take it easy"
Jackson Browne wrote Take it Easy
Glen Frey is simply irreplaceable! May his soul rest in peace!
His son is sure doing a good job filling in his spot and sure looks like him!
RIP Glenn Frey. 🙏🙏
Rip Glen. Absolute legend
If you go to Winslow, AZ you’ll see the corner in Winslow, AZ just because of “Take it easy”
@@tradewindsonthebay8667 absolutely. Deacon is really fucking great. Well done, Glen. Your legacy lives on through your brilliant son.

Eagles were just beaming with talent in all of their lineups. It's amazing the body of work they were able to achieve throughout their careers. Fantastic music, great writing and awesome performers in a class of their own.
Never get tired of listening, RIP Glenn

I grew up listening to the eagles there is no one like them love them recently saw them in concert they were amazing so sad that glenn grey passed away
Glenn Fry❤
I saw the Eagles in 2015 in Charlottesville, Virginia. It was my third time seeing them in concert. The first time was on the Long Run tour in 1982. What struck me was that these guys sang the old songs like it was the first time they sang them. They still loved performing these songs after all these years. The first song was from their first album and they finished with Hotel California. Nearly three hours of the best music ever. Thank you Eagles!!@
WOW, YOU WERE VERY LUCKY TO SEE THEM LIVE.
My ALL TIME favorite song is.........Take It To The Limit!!!!! For some reason, it brings me to tears. Maybe it's the way Randy sings it, I'm not sure. But to me it's the best song from them
It's awesome! Reminds me of couple skating at the roller rink in 6th grade, lol.
Leaving work as weekend admitting clerk, one Sunday was stuck in a snowstorm in the hospital parking lot. Heard this song for the first time on my car radio. Loved it that first time and every time since.
Gill and frey did a great version just not on meisners level. He even messed up in the 76 dvd but its still by far the best
Miss you Glenn Frey! One of the best! Great songwriting and great arranging! Hot and cool. An enigma. Heart of America.

Brings back so many Great memories with my friends sitting around in my room listening to them. Boy what great times !! Still makes me smile when I hear them sing!! Best times of my life,!!!
It's crazy when I hear an Eagles song, I'll automatically know what comes on next after that song. You know, on the album. This is even when I haven't heard their album in a long time. That goes for alot of other bands as well.
: )
Hon mentions: On The Border 1974, Ole ‘55 1974, James Dean1975.
I can't tell you why desarved to be in top 10.
'I can't tell you why' needs to definitely be featured in the Top 10 Eagles numbers. I would personally place it at number 2 or 3 of their Top 10, after 'New Kid in Town' at No 1 and 'Hotel California' at No 2 maybe.
'I can't tell you why' is a classic and it's a superb and great rendition by Timothy B Schmit and proves he is a fabulous singer.
I have one thing to say. JOE WALSH! Joe`s influence was absolutely a complete shot of grit and rock into this band.
He Joe Walsh, sat in with Steven Colbert's band for a week. Mas respect 🙏
