Great job gentlemen! One question, I live in a similar climate and grow outdoors. How do you proactively mitigate bud rot? I defoliate and use BT and Spinosad to ward of the caterpillars, but it seems the morning dew in our climates gets the buds damp every morning resulting in sporadic bud rut in some of the buds. Any tips based on your experience?
We try to keep to cultivars that for the most part are well suited to our climate. Sounds like you are doing everything right. We struggle with broad leaf Indicas with super tight bud structure. Once that moisture sets in during harvest, its a battle with some cultivars to ward off mold and bud rot. Thinning as you mentioned will increase air circulation and light exposure. We go through two aggressive defoliating and thinning rounds as harvest approaches. In the rows I also alternate plants with shorter flowering cycles with others that are late harvest. This helps keep air circulation and light on the plants.
@@AmericanGangster1 Thanks for the advice. I have been using the leaf blower to dry the buds every morning. My problem plain and simple is caterpillars. On my other 2 plants, the Blue Gelato 41, I ahve been spraying them with BT every three days to be sure. It seems to work. On the White Widow, the one with the problems, the caterpillars were already in the center of the buds. It was too late. The BT can't get them one they are inside. Also the Blue Gelato is not as dense as the super indica White Widow. I will stick with a more dew/friendly strain next year. Cheers bro.

Missouri went recreational about 6 months ago, and the public is allowed to sign up for a permit ($100) to grow a certain number of plants indoors only. While this is miles ahead of being arrested for growing even one, as was the case for the 45 years I have been a smoker, it is still not what I consider freedom. I did not sign up and won't be growing any until I can do it like I do tomatoes or any other harmless plant I feel like growing.
I live where it's illegal to grow outdoors and thanks to a bad accident I can't maintain gorilla grows anymore so indoor is my only choice. I do no-till living soil though and have been making my own worm castings and ferments for years so I do try to keep it as natural as possible. it's hard to compare my indoor grow quality to my old outdoor grows as far as quality goes because the high quality genetics I can get today are so much stronger than anything around 12+ years ago. I never got thc levels like my last few grows have had but I feel like they're lacking the flavor and smells of my old outdoor grows and I miss it. I would prefer to be able to grow in my backyard but I guess I won't complain when I can at least finally grow them indoors legally. Maybe one day we can all grow giant girls in the back yard.

This is such a Californiafied idea… some people just want to make a “lifestyle” out of everything. It’s pseudo intellectual, in my opinion. I do agree with the basic statement about outdoor being best. I am a fan of outdoor, mountain grown. I am above 3,000ft in the Northwest. We have a short season, but there is something special about the coolness of the mountains that lends itself to excellent buds. I personally use no pesticides at all, and nothing but specially made compost and manure for fertilizer. Zero chemicals, ever. I don’t sell any. Ohio is a great place to grow outdoors. The temps in September can be over 80 degrees during the day and drop the the mid 50's at night. Them conditions produce monster bud. My biggest 136 grams. I harvest between 8 am and 10 am while the condensation is on plant. I grew a male plant first to harvest the pollen and freeze dried. All my plants get lightly pollinated, so plants live the full life cycle. So if you find a seed, you win.

Indoor is always best. Higher co2 levels, no pests in your bud, no dust or other airborne particles in your buds witch is un avoidable growing outdoors.
