he is actually right....any other player would have got time violations....
GTFOH, you're only allowed one bathroom break at the AO since Tsitsipas started abusing them, which Nadal legally took. He also took medical timeout because he literally had heat stroke out there. Call me when Nadal actually breaks a rule for a real violation, Shapovalov is just a whiner as he's been his whole career.
@@MerkinMuffly Nadals bathroom break was too long. He admitted his time violation. He also disregarded the shotclock multiple times. Most players would be sanctioned for such behaviour.
@@konstruktivismuskonstru9360 You clearly know shit about the rule for time violations.

FEDAL GET AWAY WITH ALL
The tennis tour is corrupted, they make a lot of money with Roger and Nadal, that’s why the authorities allow them to get away with everything.
Fed? Why fed
@@yagom6033 fed was literally getting faster court cauz he asked .
Fed is the best player to watch. No grunting, no nonsense, servers straight away, often having games under a minute.
@@pierroulechou uninformed response, courts are getting slower everywhere and it's ruining tennis
If the other player isn't ready after a certain given time, thats their problem no? Hit the serve. That's how it should be
I mean that's how it should be but for Nadal he gets to dictate things.
As a huge fan of Rafa, I have to agree with Shapo. If the server is ready to play, and the receiving player is not, then give him time violation. DO NOT CARE WHO IT IS. Rules have to apply no matter who plays. I think Carlos Bernandes made a bad decision and he should give Nadal the violation. I hate when rules are bent, just for some.
Ur absolutely right, the thing is in situations like this the finger gets pointed at Rafa, when none of this situation it's his fault. The umpire is the one who chose to treat him "differently" and not code him, I'm sure Rafa wouldn't have protested if he got a warning since he knew he wasn't ready to play
@@MiguelSilva-cn9bc So Rafa exploits a situation that favores him and you are inoccenting him?! Ingenuity only goes so far lol

I 100% agree with him. People trying to say he is a "sore loser" obviously don't understand the game properly. I love Nadal but if he is taking too long the umpire should give him a time violation. No excuses really.
There is a clock and there are somre rules. Nadal did nothing wrong

If the servers clock is getting down to zero my advice to Denis is to serve whether Rafa's ready or not! If the ump gives him sh*t file a complaint after the match saying the ump didn't follow the rule that the receiver must be ready to play at the server's pace and the clock ran down! If a few more players did this Rafa would stop his bs!
Held himself together exceptionally well during his explanation of his feelings on the matter. Got his point across very respectfully I thought.
This was absolute robbery. He got a time violation for speaking to the ump because Nadal was always taking too long?
He is right, that's unfair and that's been lasting for too long.
But can he call chair umpire as corrupt
His voice was breaking, it only shows the fear that these players deal with when having to stand up against the “star” players. It must have been something which gone on for a long time and could not be tolerated anymore.

I absolutely wanted to see Rafa winning this match before it started and I really do think, that he deserved the victory. But all the canadian said is also true. Set standards. Set rules. And ensure, that every single player has to obey this regulations.

Espero que Nadal não ganhe! Não merece. Não depois de tudo q assisti do jogo dele com Shapovalov.
Nadal is the biggest time waster on the tour. Everyone knows this
Let's be honest here. The reason why Rafa took "breaks" was because Denis won the 3rd and 4th sets and had momentum entering the 5th. It was a tactical move and it worked.

WTF. He lost the match in the fifth set. Bullshit.
No one can disrespect what Rafa had done tennis, but he gets away with so much just because its Rafa. Other players just wouldnt get away with it
The original tennis rules only state that "play must be continuous". The 25 second rule between points is discretionary by the umpire. One of the factors they consider is climate, temperature, humidity. During this match, it was over a 100 degrees on the court and extra time was given to the players to towel off. Plus, players like Roger, Novak and Rafa do get some preferential treatment. They are the stars of the sport and who the fans come to see. Let's be honest, Dennis didn't lose the match because Rafa took 5 extra seconds between points.
If it were me, I'll just serve. If the ump says something, I'll tell him off then. Like seriously, if you're going to start the serve clock, I'm GONNA serve. Sorry.
Rafa was yapping about Djokovic not following rules lol
What a hypocrite!
Hats down for these words from Shapo! Rules must be the same for all of them. I really believe that this long break between 4th and 5th set changed the momentum at the beginning of 5th set in Rafa's direction. It was obvious that Shapovalov couldn't get it out of his head, he was so frustrated, doing more mistakes than previous 2 sets and so on. Apparently he has to work on that as well to keep his cool and emotions. It's just not fair any single time Rafa to be protected from referee's, organisations and so on . Just play the game fair mate for fuck sake
Mate today heat was deadly...and he took only 6 mins which is completely fine as toilet break ..dennis was also rude by calling chair umpires as corrupt
Rafa came out and said the heat gave him a stomach issue and there needed a medical break for meds…
@Coefficient of restitution If playing 'slow' is playing 2s slower on average than your opponent who complains you take 'too' long, then I suggest said opponent and his fans might want to remind themselves of the meaning of 'slow'. Good for him speaking up. You can hear the fear in his voice when he is talking. He knows he is exposing the establishment and exposing Nadal who has been doing these for years, heck decades. Yet year after year he would get the sportsmanship award. Figure that!
"You are not playing against player, you are playing against something much bigger" - this is how I feel whenever I watch match when Djokovic plays. Same thing with Daniil Medvedev... 2nd in world last year, and he was treated like trash in almost all tournaments... wasn't even given main court at wimbledon...
Tennis feels to me like some guys on top have few favorites they chose, and then they don't really care about anybody else :/

It is high time younger generation beat Novak, Nadal regularly before QF in every Grand slam.
Mid-30s players are still dominating Tennis for 15 years.
It is shame younger generation is not taking mental strength to defeat them.
Pete Sampras could have won 30 Grand slams If he had not faced Safin, Hewitt, Federer in his late 20s
lol safin and hewitt are not worth medvedev's shoes , and federer faced him only once and it was when sampras era was already over
Maybe if the ref (carlos) did penalized rafa the game might finish early..😇😇😇😇
Question is whether Shapovalov would have said the same in press conf if he had won the match.
Most likely not as he wouldn't care about that then, it's quite obvious. If the ref gave away a wrongful penalty in a football game and you lose, obviously you would take it up, but if you still would win 2-1 it wouldn't matter and you wouldn't take it up
Of course he would have explained himself, reporters world have asked about it regardless of the outcome.
DONT STOP TALKING TRUTH !!!
I really hope that Thiem will come back strong as ever for a few years! The way Thiem played against the big three was inspiring. Maybe Shapo should watch some matches from Thiem against Rafa and Djokovic.
Remember that he complained after losing the first set. The second time he complained, there were still 8 seconds left for Rafa to serve.
I love Nadal so take it with a pinch of salt... but can’t you just serve whenever you like? If the clock is ticking, can’t he he just play? If Nadal wasn’t at the baseline, that’s his problem, not Denis’
But then he gets a ton of hate from the crowd. Regardless, it’s good manners (and might be in the rules) that you must wait until your opponent is ready.
Yeah exactly I had the same idea. The person at serve controls the speed but often they wait for the opponent. He could have served but wonder what the umpire had done then.
Nadal has been getting away with this for yrs! Rules r rules for everyone.
Nothing is for all. Much for very few, less for very few the lowest. Ok? He must be lucky not to be in the lowest level. Be playful with this.
Nadal should be ashamed with his unsportsmanlike behavior for ever. It is because of him that serves started being timed. Why he doesn’t follow rules when he says rule is a rule for others.
Because of him??? ahahahah, I think you watch only Nadal's matches and think in this way. Rewatch Djokovic and Tsitsipas mathes
Shapovalov threw away the 5th set all by himself, he is just looking for an excuse haha.
Love shapovalov
Carlos Bernardes has had issues with Rafa in the past and Carlos might now be scared of him
Shapo nails it. Ridiculous how Rafa bends this rule.
Nadal will do anything it takes to put you off your game. He does it on purpose and always has. Watch any big point in favour of Rafa's opponents either on serve or on breakpoint and Nadal will visit the towels immediately to deliberately waste time.
You are so Right - Nadal is, indeed a CHEAT!!
even rafa had much, much more conversations with this specific umpire.
Probably Shapo is right, but the real problem is in the second part of his speech: in the past he had a different treament from the umpires at AO and this is frustastring. It's not related to the opponent you are playing but to these differences though the years
I agree, but in life the people that provide the most value get preferential treatment. One could say that’s justified. This is the entertainment business. They bring in the revenue that makes the sport possible for everyone. Also, One could say it’s not right for the obvious reasons that go without saying.
Obvious the Long toilet break after Rafa ' s 2 sets loses is questionable, it's breaks the momentum of the game, the young player got disturb much and frustrated, he lost his concentration when 5 th set starts. As Rafa is a very experienced player, this is part of the strategies and the umpire help to make it happen.
Tennis should be a fair game, everyone treated equally once in the court regardless of age, if age catching up then
Ohk...now listen..when nishikori in Olympic vs Nadal takes a break shower long time rest and comes back to beat Nadal then nobody complaints...
So wait for karma
Questionable? You do realise he had a guy with him counting down the minutes all the time right? Also it was within the rules, who cares about momentum. This would have been a sht match anyway if he won just because the other player was unwell. Glad this man-child got sent back home.

If I may, I am really speaking from Shapov’s position.
As tennis players, Shapo should focus on his 5th set before he derailed his mental momentum to argue the rules. He just fell into the “trap”, which may or may not be part of Rafa’s “game”. On the other hand, if he can do both, that’s perfect.

If you have experienced this you know what he means. As a rhythm player I totally get it , its mental sabotage to shave time off points and change overs from opponent to throw you off your rhythm. The job of the Umpire is to police that - when a player is losing and suddenly falls 'ill' and then is acting slow this is an obvious case where the Umpire should intervene proactively. It's his job. I do believe that is why Shapovalov lost. The Rhythm in the body is lost when you feel you've been thrown by your opponent for time and its now on their terms that you play.
maybe is loosing because he's ill?
Fantastic analysis 👍
I see. Dennis lost 'cos Rafa didn't play with the rhythm that Shapo wants. Yeah!! . This is a game where players use his skills. Perhaps Dennis didn't known that Rafa uses his time to the limit...obvious, Shapo never play against him....Nop. but this time Rafa uses much more time between points than the other matches....nop. but this time Rafa uses 30 secs extra to change his sweaty shirt and this cut the rhythm...and makes him lose becouse of that....nop.
Excuses, excuses, excuses.
Yeah but .the time between 4th and 5th was too much...nop. Just the legal time, and by the way, in slams is very regular to have a break between 4th and 5th, players use to go to the locker room. But this time was Rafa that use that in a very unsportlike way....nop. He sufren a heatstroke and was checkin with doctors.
Again...excuses, excuses.
Dennis lost. It,s frustrating for him but it hus fault. Don,t look away, see inside. Learn. He won Nadal once, and there were no clocks, and Rafa PlayStation the same way then...and now. So what happenned. Brain my friend. The mental power, suffer capacity, modesty, respect for the game, experience...that what happenned.
As simple as that.
Dennis lost, Dennis was wrong during and after the match.
there will always be situations like the one with tsitsi against djokovic at RG 21. shapo will have to learn how to deal with such situations.
