Seen this many times but still reduces me to helpless giggles. Dud was an underestimated genius and his wonderful jazz playing was brilliant.RIP Dud sadly missed
He is a genius! I'm a musician myself, but this is absolutely unbelievable! He was extremely talented and he also had a great deal of knowledge!
HE WAS A "GENIUS"...nothing short of that.......WOWEEEEEE>>>>>RIP DUDLEY MOORE, you are missed with ALL of your talents...............
Unbelievably talented
Brilliant and so funny! LOVE~!!!!
Brilliant, and thanks for posting this gem. I always think there's a strange connection, a resonance, between Dudley and Mozart, both men short in stature with great senses of humour and fantastic improvisational musical skills...
Genius at work!
It's been years since I heard this ~ thank you so much for posting!
Britten and Pears were said to be delighted with their parody. The Beethoven might very well be serious, but for the ccccccoooooooddddddaaaaa - which is also very typical of Beethoven.
Britten is perhaps my favorite composer, but everything I've read indicates that he didn't at all enjoy this (brilliant and hilarious) parody of him and Pears. Any hope of his being a good sport about it was spoiled by it being listed in the Playbill as "Little Miss Britten."
Hugh7777 coda? :)
I heard the oh so sensitive Britten walked out and refused to talk to Dudley ever again. Apparently Peter Pears thought it was great fun. Dudley Moore was actually a big fan of Britten's music we all know what they say about ' imitation' 😉
@@Mackeson3 You and DelGuy are correct, Britten was rather furious about it, but not Pears. Hugh doesn't know what he's going on about; the Beethoven is a joke from the very beginning, not just the coda.
@@Mackeson3 I had heard that Britten never spoke to Dud again but Pears loved it.
Wonderful.
If you've just discovered this, Velkommen to Die Flabbergast that was Dudley Moore!
Watch some Pete and Dud! (NSFW!)
Does anyone know if these works were ever published?
This page has a pdf of the Beethoven: www.pianostreet.com/blog/video-picks/dudley-moore-is-this-beethoven-574/
Would also love to know this!
Omgggg! These would make great encores at university voice recitals! 😂
