Loved your video!
They are all gorgeous 💗🌟🤗You shine SO bright!!!
Awh thank you 🤗💛
They’re all so gorgeous. I’m diné and I never worn a ribbon skirt but always thought they were so pretty! I just didn’t know if it was appropriate to do so. But this video is inspiring me to try and make one for myself 😊.
Totally! I always try to encourage others to start somewhere 🤗 I’d say rock one! I feel most beautiful when I’m in a skirt and I’d love for others to experience that 💕
Right! I feel the same when I wear my late grandma’s skirts. On top of being complemented on her skirts, I feel so much stronger.
@@danikim9545 wow! What an honour! So lucky to have those passed down to you 🤗
I think there is such a huge difference between appropriation and appreciation. Rock it!!
Thank you for sharing your collection. Ribbon skirts are so pretty!
Beautiful skirts thank you for sharing this video! I am an Afro indigenous queer woman (eastern woodlands) I’ve been drawn to ribbon skirts lately. Looking to connect with community and found your video. I’m so glad you shared these beautiful designs! ❤️🙏🏾🪶
Love Seeing your collection of ribbon skirts! I also love wearing skirts and dresses.
I'm a square Dancer, and a couple of my skirts have Ribbons! I made a skirt and top for dancing out of a large long print dress, and added ribbons to it. Think that set is packed away (to pass on) - I'm inspired to pull it out and add some wider Ribbons!
Degadeloquai Tsalagi (I'm learning Cherokee) honoring my ancestors - 🌈
The skirts are pretty and unique. Cheap dental floss might work better than thread for the bows. It works well for buttons that take a lot of pulling. Waxed might be easier but need more knots not to come untied. I'm thinking of trying it for button holes. I just don't seem to have luck with thread.
thank you! and thanks for the tip ill try next time I make one 😊
I love the Native prints the best it just resembles Native ❤
Love these designs, makes me proud of the talented women in our Manitoba community
I'm Choctaw, I've made a few ribbon skirts. Just for me tho. But I'm still in the beginning stages of learning to sew clothes. I'm trying to incorporate more Choctaw patterns on the skirts. Also love ur collection 💖
Same when ever I do sew it’s for me lol I’m not confident enough to sell or give anyone 🙊 good for you ! Practice makes perfect 🤗
Thank you for sharing your ribbon skirts & it's meaning. Awesome
love, love LOVE your look, baby Sister !!
Those skirts are so pretty, I have an idea on the long skirt, maybe you can put pleats just above the ribbons if you run 3 rows of half inch pleats that's deleting 3 inches😀. I've never seen pleats on a skirt, they might, interfere with the flow of the skirt, not sure🤔. Oh, you pulled off the scarf look, very nice, and the earrings are cool too
Thats what I was thinking, some type of pleats 🤗 thanks! I wanted to try this style with a kookum scarf for so long 🙊
Ahh I love this!! You’re such an inspiring and beautiful woman ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you my friend ❤️❤️❤️

Beautiful Skirt's!
Pockets!!!♥️♥️♥️
Right! A must for skirts 👏🏽
Very nice collection!!!
The scarf looks great! I like the floofy hair, it adds the volume a scarf look needs! I've been making my first ribbon skirt and I can't get the ribbon to not pucker, any advice?
Love the scarf.
So pretty🎉
Very very beautiful, awesome.
I am afro indigenous from MIssissippi , We family. From a distance from. Me TO YOU. Love This 💕
I am hand sewing my first skirt. It started as a gathered skirt, currently is a pleated skirt, now I have to add ribbons.
This project just keeps getting more and more complicated.
that's amazing! some of my projects get like that too and sometimes take up to a year to finish because I work on them on and off LOL
im sure once you finish it will be so worth it and so beautiful 😊
Nice collection
Beautiful
Thank you 😊💕
how do you make bows?
I love each and everyone of them. Thank you for sharing. Ive never heard of "ribbon skirts". This might sound like a dumb question but can anyone wear a ribbon skirt?I'm not native American and I ask because
1. my niece is native American and she is getting married next year and I would love to wear one for her ceremony?
2. I only wear skirts both long or short which I sew myself and would like to make some.
A lot of the fabrics you had one your skirts are like the fabric I have.
TIA
AnneMarie
Can two spirit people wear ribbon skirts?
I think you should be able to wear what ever you are comfortable with 😊💕 a friend of mine is two spirited and he wears ribbon skirts, makes beautiful looks with them 😊
I always wondered what Custer would have thought if the skins would've come out of the teepees with longer beards than his men😂😂😂😂😂
Beautiful skirts. I make skirts to sell and always looking for new ideas. I started sewing ribbon skirts to honor the missing indigenous girls/ women.
ash that's an amazing reason and way to start, I bet they turned out beautiful. That's the next type of skirt I need to make for my collection, MMIW2SGred❤ skirt and a skirt for Every Child Matters 🧡
I always wondered what Custer would have thought if the skins would've come out of the teepees with longer beards than his men
We have a military group...would you find a green camo....or desert camo skirt for us...our lady vets....we go by Zuya Akicita Veterans....went to ceremony for our name....were Lakota Sioux....not affiliated with pine ridge or rosebud tribes....we do everything out of our own pockets...travel all over the midwest
I'm not enough indigenous to be part of a tribe because my family tried to white pass as much as possible. Would it be appropriate for me to wear one to honor my great grandmothers?
I am in the same boat, and Tala Tootoosis says in her videos that it is ok for all women. I highly recommend her ribbon skirt teachings playlist.
Good
I was told that when a woman wears her pony tail low at the nap of her neck she is married. If a woman wears her pony tail high (so that her pony tail swings freely) she is single (or looking for trouble if she is married). I was told by my father that I am 1/4 Cherokee. However, I look like what I am ( a 76 year old, white haired, light skinned, green eyed, grandmother with wrinkles, and arthritis. If I made myself a ribbon skirt and wore it in public, would I be offending anyone? I want a long skirt to hide my ugly legs and help keep them warm. This is my second time asking. No one replied to my first request.
