Yeah i pretty much only knew dawn of war 1 and then came to astartes, it spoiled me so hard. So when i hear about primaris duel slugfests i roll my eyes lol (oh and furry apocalypse by flashgitz lol, just as ruthless and play no games cuz black templars lol)

I loved the "realism" of how the Retributors acted as Space Marines, from a lore perspective. No fancy war cries that we could hear, no force commander with a thunder hammer; just some tactical marines and veterans doing their part for the Imperium.

It's about quotas and it has become the tumor of the creative world. Maybe he'll still produce highly detailed content, but the narrative and characters could be deficient or insultingly bad.

Not how space marines are deployed... Each one goes through these training drills and all are quite different, the visuals are that, a compliment to the actuality of what could be verse how we think it should look. A war cry isn't something joyous, it's a cry for death or life. One day if at all you may be faced with that option, to yell at immovable objects to get them to budge flinch. Like the titan tamers say, to feel a titan is to stare down a mountain and have it move. Then you will know the feeling it is to ride a beast of metal.
Not gonna lie, I was drawn to W40K thanks to Astartes. Of course I've heard from the hobby before because of friends and memes, but it never grew well on me. It changed when I discovered Astartes by chance and now I am addicted to plastic crack. Your channel only makes everything better, so thank you for that, Majorkill.

For me it was Dawn of War 2 and the Tyranids that drew me in.
Same, I was an MTG player for the longest time and I always saw the Warhammer stuff and thought "that looks pretty cool, kinda pricey though." But after watching this, MTG becoming more expensive, Covid, and injured legs, I decided this was the perfect hobby for me during this time when there's nothing to do but work.

I saw a lot of hate towards the 9th edition trailer, but I don't think it's that bad? It's not as bad as the cartoony, flashy and moba-like graphics of DoW3.
I'm not a uber 40K nerd and follows all the story and business developments of GW, so I might have missed some context.

Honestly I thought it was the Men of Iron at first. They passed by that big desiccated bronze dude, and the orb looked like it was made of nanobots. When we got the Lovecraft tentacles and canyon of giant skeletons, I thought it was the C'Tan or Necrontyr. Maybe I wasn't familiar enough with the obscurer lore, but I think Pederson did a good job of not giving it a clear identity,

I've spend every moment of my free time for the past two weeks studying warhammer lore, because of The Astartes Projekt. so yea.
Also just so you know, Luetin09 does some really great in depth explanations about a lot of events, and funny enough, him and Majorkill rarely covers the same subject, which gives a lot of room for both of them to be here =)
Also the TTS (text to speech device) series is only fun if you know a decent amount of warhammer lore, which I now do, thanks to Majorkill and Leutin09.

Arch's reasoning in deducing the Yu'Vath is quite solid though. Unless you have inside information, which it feels like you are claiming, then I am not sure what else it could be.

The retributors talk, you just can't hear them. You can hear mumbling in their armor in part 5 in several cases. The indication is that they keep in contact through telecommunications, rather than environmentally audible sounds.
Your rant on Arch at 2:55 got you a sub and a notify, well done mate. Could not agree more.

I actually did get into the lore, and recently into the tabletop, because of these badass vids. I mean come on, he made the coldest animated series on youtube.
My Man single handedly set the standard for the Warhammer Universe. He took matters into his own hands and now every Warhammer 40K Movie will be compared to something 1 Fan made.

I've been intrigued by Warhammer for years, but this project was what finally got me into it big time. It's just excellent storytelling, and done with zero dialogue which is very difficult
this was the first 40k thing and my search history was full of 500+ astartes, space marines and 40k searches now i can talk for hour non stop about 40k much thanks to you and more to adaptus ridiculous
I still think the Yu’Vath are a pretty good fit for the “Xenos spheres” and The Creator either didn’t know about them when he wrote his script, or else was engaging in a bit of CYA behavior just in case GW feels like they want a piece of him/extra leverage in any deal they might want to make with him/etc.
That said, you bagging on Arch was hilarious, and for those interested a much better (imo) version of his thesis, with full explanation of the story can be found on the channel For the Greater Kill Team, a very small creator I came across by chance who I think really deserves a bigger following.
Oh two quick things: your video is the first time I’ve heard that Retributors sergeants and officers need to join the Deathwatch before they are promoted. Was this mentioned in the AMA? It certainly would help explain their close ties to the inquisition as well. Lastly, am I the only one who hears “defy our touch” not “deny our touch” in part 5? It doesn’t really change the meaning but it seemed like one of the more understandable parts to me so I’m just curious.

This guy knows what's Up! I started watching Warhammer 40k content because of Astartes.
Well that and a video talking about the deadliest job in the imperium.
I'm definitely one of those people. I had obviously heard about both Warhammer and Astartes (from being on the Internet for more than 5 minutes) but I'm not into tabletops so I never had much interest in either until a RUclipsr that I watched mentioned something about the series. I went and watched it and was instantly hooked, the universe had just the kind of depth and tone that I love and so I ended up spending the next several hours balls-deep in wiki articles and videos on just about everything. I also subscribed to a bunch of recommended RUclips channels from a reddit thread which included yours and now I've watched almost every 40k lore video on your channel and watch them when they come out too. Astartes is really doing the Emperor's work out here.
Same here man, i heard about warhammer 40k and i really liked the universe so i started watching vids about it on youtube, though i only spent a few minutes on it. When i found astartes it really hyped me up to learn more about warhammer. Sadly, i havent played any games, tabletops or read any books, so im the most basic warhammer40k fan you will ever find.
Astartes brought a ton of people into the fold of 40k. So awesome to see the hobby growing!

It's pretty funny when people accuse Arch of being an alt-right pro Nazi misogynist, because it shows that either they don't understand what jokes are or else feel personally attacked by opinions. Besides, I think Arch gave a pretty good explanation for his theory as to what the sphere could be.

I showed the astarties series too my friend who at that point had no clue what 40k was, after I showed her it she immediately asked “what was that, where’s that from” and now she’s hooked and a hardcore fan.
I had little interest in 40k, until I saw Astartes from a RUclips recommendation. It was so amazing I started looking into the lore. Now I am plowing through your and Baldermort's lore content with reckless abandon. I love how deep the rabbit hole goes!

I really cant wait for him to come out with more content im so hyped for it i the tease at the end of part 5 was just to much i almost cried knowing there was more coming when i saw part one i thought it was just some cheap little teaser but when 2-5 came out, my mind was blown

How have noone realized this yet? The blast that hits the tentacle monster is ofcourse the blast from his plasma pistol. Naturally somehow throwing the protagonist astartes to a random location instead of where the tentacle wanted him. Also note, that after he plasma-pistoled through the smoke an episode earlier, he threw it to the ground, but suddenly had it back on his hip in the final episode.
Gave zero fucks about Warhammer despite knowing of its existence for years. Then I watched Astartes and ended up devouring W40K lore. Then GW in their infinite dipshit wisdom pulled the series from YT and instantly made me hate them and never want to give them a dollar. Great move playing Uno reverse on the free marketing, GW!

I found these videos while in quarantine. I was instantly fascinated by the sheer quality of the video and had to learn more. 2 years later and I have my own little squad of Deathskull orks and some Flashgitz sitting on my desk. GW needs to recognize just how much free advertising Syama got them with these passion projects, and how much money they made once fans got interested. I know that there's a lot of controversy about how they acquired him and changed the videos on their private website, but the setting is just too damn cool to put down

@@Kreett_ His analysis and take was very well done though. he went down to pattern analysis and made educated guesses. Since the creator of Astartes had, at that point, released ZERO background, additional story or commentary as to the nature of the enemy, what else could he do?

Astartes got me into 40k and Warhammer as a whole. I showed it to my animation class back before part 5 came out and I'm so greatful for it!
Had no idea Astartes creator was a Kiwi. Now I love it even more.
