No the PGA banning golfers is what killed it. LIV would have changed their schedule to include a head to head battle with the PGA guys. It would have been a highly anticipated event
While I think this would be absolutely epic, my gut tells me the PGA Tour, based on their demonstrated actions, would have nothing to do with it, which is disappointing to say the least. 👊
Thanks for stopping by the channel! The downfall of the match play, in conjunction with the ACC wanting more money from the PGA Tour, was caused by LIV Golf, which snowballed to cause the downfall of the WGC. Plainly, if LIV Golf never had emerged, in all likelihood, the match play and WGC would have continued on.
@@2Thes22, I agree the emergence of LIV does not mean the match play or WGC had to end, yet the emergence of LIV put into motion a series of events that ultimately caused the decision to be made. LIV Golf has been a forcing function for a lot of changes the PGA Tour has implemented, I acknowledge the PGA Tour made those decisions, yet those decisions would have never been contemplated if it was not for LIV Golf, certainly not in 2022 and 2023.
Appreciate Your insight.. however as the PGA’s Product is going through some massive changes and likely a lot of downside from Sponsors, Clubs, Players ect.. being upset with the “New Direction” I do believe in time it will be for the best for the Game, Product, its Players, and ultimately the Fans/Viewers. Change is difficult for many especially these days with so much availability to express feelings, opinions and such do to social media and platforms. I really do see at some point down the road that the PGA & LIV will both come to some agreement on a WWE (World Wide Event) Competition that will have a format in line with Pres/Ryder Cup Stature. With Sponsors, Media, Players, and both Product-Brands benefiting greatly. MASSIVE Purses, Pride, Cup/Trophy that would transcend the Sport and be good for all on a EPIC scale! Now there’s a lot to work out of course (No pun) for Their own respective Tour and the implications that will preceed with how both continue to structure Their baseline Product/Brands formats, scheduling and so on. As long as Rory & Tiger can continue a healthy relationship with the PGA (and Vice Versa) It may take some time, thoughtful cooridnated planning, and many ups & downs all in all I do believe the Sport (long term) will be better, healthier, more enjoyable, and Competitive for Everybody!

LIV should organize Match Play after their season ends and include all top players with a huge purse.
Wow, that's a fantastic idea! That would be a huge olive branch LIV could extend to the PGA Tour! 👊
LIV Golf vs PGA imagine the crowd for that??

This is an insane headline. LIV didn’t destroy anything. PGA Tour did.

@@creasergolf the emergence of LIV does not mean that it needs to end. PGA made it a sacrificial lamb
