The best lines from the "Essential Secretarial Studies" textbook (1974):
    - "When you are shown into the office of the person who is to interview you, follow his lead. Try to strike a happy medium between appearing either over-confident or extremely nervous." (p. 645)
    - "Say goodbye with a smile and close the door behind you. The final impression is as important as the first one. "(p.647)
    - "An intelligent woman, with aptitude and ability, will soon be able to establish what her boss's job is all about; her immediate aim must be to become his alter ego, her ultimate should be to prepare herself to do his job." (p. 637)
    - "At a dinner given in a hotel, you will take female guests to the powder room after the meal before meeting the men in the lounge for coffee." (p.550)

I was going to ask if you'd read any of it, but your description made my question unnecessary. I see you couldn't resist reading even Essential Secretarial Studies. 😂

All in this video is perfect.
The sound of paper when you rubbed the pages.
The slow pace, the thickness of the pages.
    👌

I wonder how much you’ve learned about business, art, history, photography, biology, politics, and journalism since you started your channel? 🤔 Just reading what I can while you flip through; it’s utterly fascinating-especially this book.
The sound is epic as usual and I can’t take my eyes off your nails. So pleasing. Thank you, dear Kat. 💚

Many thanks, Sherri. ❤ If only I could speed-read, then I'd get much more from this book. 🙂 And from the others I used for this channel. Most of them end up on the shelf, to browse through on a lazy Sunday afternoon. 💤😴 For some reason, retaining information is not high on my priority list nowadays. My head must be getting full. 😀

This was very interesting and brought me back to my secretarial days 📝 .. My first job was using a manual typewriter, manually returning the carriage after each line, using carbon paper for each letter and constantly changing the ribbon. Luckily typewriters evolved to electric and then computers not long after 😃
Haha, some of those quotes are actually true .. taking the girls to the powder room before meeting the men would be the perfect time for gossip 😂
Fond memories of my secretarial days 🤓📑📚✍️💜
This book is in pristine condition and the page turning was so lovely as usual. Thanks again for taking me back to the day, and bringing peace and good karma to the present day 💟💜💫

wow.... the tingles.. amazing... I find some vids work so well for me and others not so much. This one, the sound of the paper just as you are sliding your finger to grab the page.. it's almost as if I can feel the paper.. I know that sounds weird, but every time, I get a massive release of tension.... waves of relaxation. thank you

Hi Kat 🙂 This book was a great find, well done! The sound of your hands on the paper is amazing. I can’t help but notice that when I was young, vintage was 1930’s to 40’s but now it’s the 70’s? Wow, guess that means I’m vintage now 😂. Oh well, at least I get to enjoy these wonderfully relaxing videos made by a wonderful person named Kat. Take care! ❤

Did you know something nowadays is called vintage when it's at least 20 years old? Crazy, huh! 😮When I read it on an antique dealer's website, I thought it was a typo. So I checked on several other websites, and they all had the same typo! Just 20 years old?
So, most of us on here are excessively vintage? 🙂
Retro seems to imply being less than 40 but more then 20 years old. And antique, at least 100.
      Complicated! 🙃
I wonder how old a person needs to be to feel nostalgic? Can a toddler feel it? 🤷‍♀️

      @darrend72 Год назад +1

@@PoisabloomASMR Good question. I don’t think we’ll ever know if a toddler feels nostalgia because they probably wouldn’t understand what they were feeling or be able to describe it. For me, nostalgia is usually triggered by sounds or smells. The other day I went for a walk just after it rained and the smell of the freshly rained-on forest brought me back to camping with my parents when I was a kid and my father cooking over the campfire. Great memories.

Ha 1974 is when I studied as a secretary. The most embarrassing part was that I did not drink coffee so I didn't know how to make it. 😟
