Thanks for posting this Travis. After you turn the lamp off, let the motor run the fan for 5-10 minutes to cool the lamp. It will last longer. And like headlight bulbs for cars, don't touch the glass of the lamp with your bare fingers--the oil from your skin will compromise the glass when it heats. Nice to see your hobby!
Thanks for posting this video! I just received the exact-same projector from eBay. Runs great and this video really helped me figure out how to thread it. I have a couple of Bell & Howell Super 8 projectors that came with a plastic "auto-loader" attachment where you'd just have to insert the film and it would automatically thread it. A little harder with this old 8mm but not too bad.
This is really cool! I just found one of these projectors in my grandparents’ house. It’s a model 253-A. It’s missing the lamp bulb and an empty reel to take up the film. What model bulb do I need and where can I get one? Where could I get a second reel?
Contact the fine folks at www.urbanskifilm.com/ and they can get you replacement lamps and reels! I just sent them my model info and they had everything else taken care of! Great company with a vast inventory of 8mm equipments and products!
I have that same projector! I got possession of it in 1980 when my parents bought a house. The seller left it behind! Did you ever find out what year this model was made? I haven't used mine in a long time, but when I last did, it worked fine. Any idea how long those types of lamps last??
I’d say if you make sure to leave the motor fan on to cool the lamp off after usage, it’d probably last longer than you’d expect. Probably about 1-3 years?

Thank you!
Recently found a perfectly mint-in-the-box B&H projector for $20. Showed it to my Grandfather and he told me the exact same thing.

I went from standard 8, to super 8, then to 16mm. It's a fascinating hobby.
cool. I'm thinking of getting one myself. What is the size of the screen you can get on it without loosing on focus ?

Hey man I’m new to these projectors , do they play any sound at all?
Super 8 projectors have sound features. As for 8mm, I believe they are all silent
@@dilanlake8870your correct, but it is still cool to watch!
Where do you get the film
eBay, search up “Castle Films 8mm” I found about 5 8mm short movies.
