I get that it may not seem that deep to some people. However, pronouncing someone’s name wrong after they’ve corrected you is ignorant and shows lack of respect. Also, for some people, their name is very important to them.
I think if he was that upset about it they wouldn’t have kept it in the video. Isn’t he one of the editors or videographers? I had a student that everyone called Mayvoot for 4 years, then one day his mom came to school for conferences and we found out his name is actually pronounced MayvLoot. (Spelled Mevlut) He just never corrected anyone.

@MIA "turkish names are some of the names out there that really need to be transliterated if youre emigrating to a diff country bc theres really no way for ppl to know what the letters are supposed to sound like" That's so wrong. In fact, this is true for English and untrue for Turkish. Because Turkish letters are always pronounced the same way, just like Japanese letters. English has a multitude words that are pretty much impossible to spell correctly without having seen the written word at least once, because a single English letter can be pronounced 5-10 different ways. Turkish has no such words or letters, its letter pronunciations are 100% consistent. Which means the moment you hear the proper pronunciation of any word, you also know the correct spelling, and vice versa.
Some people change their names during immigration for sure, but we can't demand this to become the norm. How would you feel if you moved to another country and they told you to change your name to a meaningless, broken, transliterated version of it, because English pronunciation is too inconsistent and difficult? If I don't know how to say someone's name, I ask them. I don't expect them to replace this part of their identity cause it takes a bit of effort to learn. I just put "cengiz" in Google Translate's detect language mode and it told me the proper pronunciation, so there's really no excuse in this day and age.

Secondly, don't patronize me and claim to know what my friends in foreign countries do better than I do. No, my friends abroad don't use transliterated names at all. Because naturally, most people love their names and don't want to change something that's been a defining part of their identity for decades. Lastly, transliteration almost always removes meaning from the name. An American friend of mine would be upset when people transliterated her name "Annelise" to Turkish because it sounded like the Turkish word for "analysis." She felt like the beautiful and meaningful name her mother picked after so much thought warped into a soulless word when people pronounced it so carelessly. And she had every right to ask people to call her by her correct name, because pronouncing someone's name correctly is basic respect. There is no such thing as "sounds you can't expect people to know about" when we live in a time when 5 seconds on Google Translate will tell you the correct pronunciation. As I said before, there is no excuse.

HTCI keeps deleting the negative comments surrounding this issue instead of apologizing, so don't hold your breath...The internet is forever, though, and they immortalized Yo and Jocelyn being unbelievably rude in this video. I imagine everyone who watches in the future will feel offended, so I hope they have someone cleaning up these comments daily if they're not willing to apologize.

I love How to Cake it but I agree the jokes about it seem a bit mean-spirited and disrespectful :(
It left a bad taste as I don’t think she said sorry directly (at least not on camera). She diverted the conversation to him having to earn the right to have his name and the second time on her own experiences, which is fair enough but doesn’t equate to acknowledging her mistakes. It felt like a parent or a teacher struggling to admit that they were wrong and apologise and made me cringe so much. The chocolate couldn’t even distract me:(

It shouldn’t be a problem with you guys or might seem that way but it’s all about their relationship with each other and I’m pretty sure it’s a joke to all of them considering nobody seemed to have an issue, don’t be so concerned on their relationship, not in a rude way but it doesn’t concern anyone of us,
