From master story teller, Guillermo del Toro, comes THE SHAPE OF WATER - an other-worldly fable, set against the backdrop of Cold War era America circa 1962. In the hidden high-security government laboratory where she works, lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins) is trapped in a life of isolation. Elisa’s life is changed forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret classified experiment. Rounding out the cast are Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Michael Stuhlbarg and Doug Jones.

This film was like falling into a dream.
And a wet one that's for sure
@@Aries_83 😂😂😂
I just saw it on tv, I’m so glad I record it, so I can watch it back. It’s such a pretty dream 😍
I know! 😉
Doug Jones is criminally underrated as an actor.
Until he decided to play The Bye Bye Man...
This movie made me fall in love with Sally Hawkins.
So fugly though
I took a look at some scenes from "Creature from the Black Lagoon" after watching this video so many times, and I gotta tell you, Guillermo's idea of reversing the roles of the hero and the monster in typical monster films has got to be pure genius. Let's face it, deep down we're more fascinated by fantasy/sci-fi creatures than we are afraid of them, and we know that the real monsters in the world are just humans who have the capacity to be cruel to others.

Well said, Madame well said!
This is right on the money...Del Toro is a master...
This movie explains true love and the beauty of being an underdog in so many unfathomable, marvelous ways. Every shot established and each individual scene depict a raw emotion and idea with precision and grace. The viewers feel a deep connection to the film’s true heroes, and have a fear and sense of dread towards the villains. The love between Elisa and The Asset feels natural because of the wordless understanding and bond that the two share. No words needed to be spoken to show their love for one another, and Del Toro truly understood how vital that would be in a movie about romance and redemption. Each scene with them feels as if you’re witnessing an intimate interaction between a real life couple. It’s highly emotional and thought-provoking. The sheer desperation and sadness that Elisa felt to rescue The Asset was a tangible feeling of longing that many viewers can connect to. It’s an intimate, selfish and tender sensation that some people never have the joy of experiencing - the feeling of raw, true, sexual, and understanding love. One’s first love and a yearning to convey that feeling - and never truly finding the “right” ways to express it - is such a relatable and powerful feeling. Elisa is a hero without needing to explain it. It’s apparent in her actions and the feelings shown in her facial expressions. This film truly provides a deep look into what love between partners, friends, and families is like at its core. This movie moved me to tears at least 5 times in the theatre, and I’ll be crying to it again many times over when I am able to purchase it on DVD. Thank you Guillermo for this perfect film.
I did not expect to enjoy this film as much as I did. Every character was masterfully played.
Octavia was amazing in this. So was everyone else. It was a visual masterpiece
"In this movie the humans are the monsters"....just like oftentimes in real life...Amazing movie in every way. A must watch!!!
I've heard that said about 'King Kong', where at the end the men are trying to destroy Kong.
i think the key to movie is Sally and Doug. i just love their chemistry. the way they "talked" in silence is just too pure and precious . they are awesome actor !! i love this movie .

When the fish is more handsome than the men.... wohooo
Not better looking than Shannon
Already loved Sally Hawkins acting before this movie. Such an incredible actress
It's a metaphor: the "creature" native of Amazon (Latin countries), black woman, an homosexual (professor), the disabled person (deaf-mute woman). All of them against the race human's prejudice (white european man)
Ok jan
this movie goes far beyond your imagination
I got goosebumps watching this, even after I've watched the movie.
Quite a masterpiece.
I love the part when Elisa starts signing 'f*ck you' at Strickland with a nonchalant face
Absolutely beautiful, amazing movie! Saw it twice and I think I will watch it for a third time. The attention to detail and the colors are mesmerizing.
What a masterpiece! Visually stunning! I loved the color palette, the characters, the music! Simply beautiful!
Srsly this movie is amazing. My favorite from this year so far. And the actress deserves an Oscar bc you could tell how she felt by just staring at her expressions.

LOVE this movie, it has no category.
this was the most beautiful movie I have seen... the lighting and scenes were perfect and the Teal was amazing... the work that goes into these things must be painstaking.... now I understand how it can take a whole day to get 5 seconds of film.... congrats to the lighting team on this one... and the wardrobe and scene people also
And Del Toro always makes fantasy so surreal!!!! Even CGI cant beat this. Really miss those old movies before cgi ruined it all now

For Who watch the film was sally naked for real ?
fedi ben brahim in the movie at some point, yes
This is my most favourite movie. :)
I’m in love with Sally.
wow!! im inlove with him already😍😍😍😍
Me too! You can tell just by Doug's acting that the Amphibian Man is an innocent, gentle creature. I love how Guillermo was inspired by the sea monster from "Creature from the Black Lagoon" to create this character and yet his role in this film is the complete opposite of the sea monster's role in that old movie. It's interesting to me how we went from being afraid of otherworldly creatures in movies to falling in love with them.
What can i say... 3words : i LOVE it!

.
A masterpiece ❤️
the writer/director of this film is genius! because if the lead character can speak..it will be a FULL different story..just imagine,HOW IN LOVE WOMAN SPEAKS.HAHAHA!!!***LOVE THIS FILM!***
ออกแบบให้เป็นชุดกันน้ำด้วย.
สีเทคนิคการเพ้นสี การออกแบบ สุดยอด. น่าทึ่งจริง
Love is priceless❤😂😂😂😂 Jones and Haskins Infact you do all 👏 Bravo.
Unlike something like Fantastic Beasts I can see, that Sally is looking at the 'creature' right down-the-barrel, eye to eye.
Like Narnia too, the talent was one foot away from eye-contact, and thus, the most important scenes in the film were killed stone-dead!
Practical effects rule. That is why the world loved Buckbeak, and that is why this film worked as a love story. 🏆
oh wow their uniforms were blue in real life. but the movie filter made everything seem greenish, like the environment the amphibian lived in
Beautiful story
The Shape of L💙ve

What’s the song that plays during the multiple featurettes?
A SUPPLIENT FICTION WORK. THAT REMINDS US THAT LOVE IS THE GREATEST STRENGTH OF THE UNIVERSE.
The creature is really neat, but as far as handsome....Doug Jones is in my eyes. "Sigh!" ;)
No wonder this movie got an oscar
Good movie
Does anyone know if the animation was done with Maya? It really looks like it in those final clips that show the layering/masking. Shout out to who ever edited that together! I'm taking a class in 3D animation right now and this movie definitely has inspired me. The style and appearance of this amazing aquatic creature is exactly the kind of thing I've always wanted to make since I was little. Didn't think of myself as an animator before but this has real broaden my horizon of the future career wise.
what is the music? please!
