Greg Smallman is the king of the modern guitar. I have a 2003 model which is absolutely brilliant. Nothing else compares with it at all. What is so wonderful is that you do to work so hard to produce a fantastic sound. This one seems very nice too, thanks fir sharing,

Yes the Montero nearer the heart than the others that's what a guitar should do is touch your heart with it's musical sound the others create a nice musical sound but a guitar should be intimate sounding

An idea - what about placing a microphone by the player's ear, so that we can get a sample of what these guitars sound like to the player in addition to what they sound like to the audience? Thanks for y'alls hard work over the past year and for more to come!

The Dammann was amazing! Easy to understand how it ranks so highly in your opinion. If you play it again, would you show and discuss the bridge & saddle arrangement? I felt like it produced 360 degrees of sound out of the depths of space; clear and sweet.

There may be lots of instruments from this luthier, but I bet they all have this uniquely round and clear precision sound... A master's works can easily be heard on these instruments... Bunch or remarkable instruments for this anniversary show thanks... So beautiful

Thanks for this presentation! And congrats for the anniversary. It's a very nice platform to learn about the contemporary classical guitar making world. Keep up!
First one more general remark: please don't go ever the roof, guys, like two exhilarated small boys on a Lamborghini/Ferrari show. It is clear that the instruments you are presenting belong to the highest priced (though not necessary the best available) on the market. They do not need these slightly exaggerated reactions.
Another general remark: listening through quite decent headphones my impression is that the string set you choose (I understand you take always the same for the guitars) have slightly overpowering basses (at least that's how it comes across on my end).
And lastly: please take even more care in tuning!
That said, to the guitars: 1) the Damann is in my ears the best Damann I have ever heard (though never played any one of them). Still, I find the bass a bit overpowering, but I hear that's a great guitar. But given the price I would not expect less. If it's the best guitar I have heard in your hands? I don't think so.
    2) Domingo Esteso; now that is pearl. Maybe not necessarily suitable for every style of music, but it has a lot of character and is a totally mature instrument. 3) About Smallman I don't even start to write, because it doesn't do anything for me, apart from understanding how you can instantly feel like a superman of guitar playing. Electric guitarists achieve that with the volume knob on their Marshall stack😄 4) Marin Montero has always been close to my most preferred idea of what a classical Spanish guitar is, and it appears to me that this one lives up well to their reputation. Probably it's also the most universal all purpose guitar in this lot.
None of these guitars though makes me think that I would like to exchange for my Stenzel.
Compared with the many guitars you have already presented it clearly shows that there are quite a few extremely talented luthiers for the instruments of which you don't have to spend megabucks and that will bring you as far as these guitars do, even if they are less glamorous.

Second the Domingo instrument is very impressive, gentle and romantic shall we add traditional passionate Spanish.. some things get better with age...maybe in this case its also true ..

There are so many luthiers making great guitars, for a fraction of that price. They are equally good in quality and sound. Jarosław Bilan, - a polish luthier living in Kraków, is one of them. For 3000 euro he will make You a beautiful guitar.

Super vid, guys. Congrats on one year of running this wonderful show. Esteso a clear first place with its mellow lyrical sound. That is what guitars should sound like. They also should be light in weight, not heavy like a midsize chair. A charming instrument with a beautiful voice. Marin comes in at second with a very nice Spanish sound as well. Danman close third, really a very nice guitar. It comes in third only because the first two guitars set the bar so high. Smallman noise boxes do nothing for me. I call it a noise box because that’s what it is, it may look like a guitar, but it doesn’t sound like a guitar. John Williams to my taste, sounded so much better when he recorded on his Fleta. I see how people are attracted to volume but to me, that sound is truly awful.

Not only a very beautiful instrument but truly magnificent sound probably the best cedar top I have heard. Can see and hear why it's such a sought after instrument. Well done Matias Dumman

Real good sound it sounds more than double its size...but clear such 'polished' and rounded sound projection...maybe because it's so heavily built..that it sounds so solid.

    I liked the first two
Both had beautiful VOICEs but different
The first had a lot of Wenge rhythmic & separated characteristics, yet MUSICAL with beautiful voice, VERY HARD to achieve
The second, (on surface) a little less accomplished but with a very human voice (slightly female)
I would imagine old (period) instruments sounded like this.
Its a shame guitar makers imagine Shellac to be the ultimate finish, especially so shiny & pretty etc
Violin makers over centuries have had their own recepie for a reason!!

    Guys, wake up?
95 percent of people today can go only as far as 6000.
So my question is -, what are You boasting of? It's inappropriate, - it looks like teasing a dog with a bone outside of its cage.
