    That is 1 way to use it, I agree it’s close to how it was intended to be used however, there are many different ways to use it that are neither wrong or condescendingly stupid, there is a place for many of it’s uses, this is how you like to do it and are convinced you’re correct… a little more context here is appropriate - for example, from the side like Todd, less on the hand than your example but exponentially more on the elbow. From a diagonal with a straight wrist start, varying diameters and done at speed with body english lends itself toward speed work or coordination - closer to how someone would move in a match I.e specificity.
    Different techniques/methods provide different stimulus and need to be moderated within a regimen.
    Many ways to skin a cat mate, many different methods have got people to the top. This is your opinion, it’s not wrong - its just yours.

    It's a North American thing where so many men in particular have terrible weightlifting habits. They believe full range of motion is important, even when it leads to hyperextension and tearing of the connective tissue - which isn't vascularized to heal like bone or muscle. They concern themselves with the amount of weight they are lifting instead of doing the lift correctly. They still waste time doing the bench press despite being an incredibly injury-inducing and worthless lift. They allow for the "bounce" where something snaps back on the release of a lift or even when stretching, etc.
    All of this because they want to avoid being called a "pussy" by other dudes.

    I personally like the "D-ring" style handles like the Rolling Thunder, very comfortable and easy to load up weight with good form. The wrist wrench is much more humbling, can only lift 2/3 or less with it, but I don't like how it tries to rotate in your hand even if you hold your fingers and wrist tight, It encourages clamping too much imo, which isn't what I'm trying to work. Maybe would be better with chalk to stop from having to clamp as much but my gym doesn't allow chalk

    This isn't really related to the vid, but whatever. You've made two separate claims in past videos about physical achievements that are pretty amazing. (1.) You mentioned closing the CoC # 4 and (2.) running a 4.3 second forty yard dash (when you were younger I assume). If both of these claims are true, I'd say you are the only person in history to have done this. I thought you were full of it until recently seeing a Jedd Johnson video where he backs up your CoC #4 close. Now I assume you are being honest about the 4.3 forty. Not sure if everyone understands how unique of an athlete Rob is.

  • @kodybyrdarmwrestling1767
    @kodybyrdarmwrestling1767 2 года назад

    I’m no expert my any means. But I prefer the wrist wrench over any other handle simply for the feeling of a pressure inside of my hand. I can move a lot more weight with static handles like a fat grip or art arm, but the wrist wrench on any vector period feels much more like there is movement inside of my hand which is where it would really be. I do all my lefts starting with weight in front of me, but I still train going sideways specifically and dragging back specifically. They feel different but I do believe the wrist wrench is doing more than “jack shit” when going sideways.

    • @kodybyrdarmwrestling1767
      @kodybyrdarmwrestling1767 2 года назад

      There is also the fact that when facing the weight, the pressure is mostly fingers and the most wrist flexion pressure is at full cup. When perpendicular, very little on fingers besides clamping, but peak force against the wrist flexion is at the start position

    A wrist wrench "perpendicular to the hand" IS NOT equivalent to a fat grip on a D-ring or a mazurenko handle. Get any armwrestler (Including RVJ) on a table doing a perpendicular side pressure lift with both a wrist wrench and a Mazurenko handle and I'll bet money that the mazurenko handle lift will be higher. I've done both extensively and know from experience that those are both very different feeling lifts. The wrist wrench may not be applying as much pressure into opening your hand as if the weight was being pulled from directly in front of you, but it's still very different from a simple cylinder on a rod setup.
