- Archbishop Desmond Tutu has died at 90 years old. The Nobel Peace Prize winner played a major role in ending apartheid in South Africa. I had the pleasure of speaking with this man on more than 3-4 occasions when I worked at the UN 🇺🇳 as a intern, then as a full time staffer for a couple of diplomats/ NATO leaders who need not be named… he was a truly loved and wise man. God speed to this man full of love and his lifelong mission of peace!
he lived a long, purposeful life, and that's something most all of us could only *hope* to have said of us.

@Anglo it is extremely presumptuous of you to think that I am African or even British when I'm neither. But I observe the struggle back in the 80s, a domination of the minority over the majority was insanity. The government was extremely extremely fortunate that there wasn't a pushback, can you imagine hundreds of thousands of blacks overtaking their oppressor?
Anyway in response to your comment.... the British should have never been there to begin with, whether or not they ever built anything for themselves prior or afterward is irrelevant, the fact remains the British were occupiers and oppressors for selfish gains.
But historically that's what they did, and just look at the Caribbean...they took from original occupiers ( spain and france ) and stole everything they could until the 60s.
The only time the British could not make their mark was here in the United States, we weren't having any of that crap 👍👌💪

What is not widely known about Tutu is that many years ago he gave up his ANC membership and encouraged others to do the same. I always wondered what Mandela had to say about that. Tutu was deeply disappointed in the ANC, a party that he supported for many decades though thick and thin.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu spoke truth to power. He was a true campaigner for racial justice and freedom for all under the brutal rule of apartheid. It wasn't only the black Africans that were enslaved by apartheid but the white population as well.
It's going to be hard to imagine a world without the likes of a man like Archbishop Desmond Tutu. He was such a force for good in the world and now his voice is silenced. But his works will love on and his actions will shine like a candle in the darkness. And should we want to, we can add our light to his and carry his work on into the future for a better world for us all.

He is a man who has vociferously opposed American imperialism, Israeli Apartheid, as well as the US persecution of Julian Assange, who exposed war crimes committed by the US military. He will be missed.
