Thanks for the comparison! Funny how we can hear that the k500 is acoustic but the NV5S is so close ! I think part of what gives away that the Novus is digital is how defined and deep the basses are - an upright this height would never reach that level.
The NV5 sounds a little subdued comparred with the acoustic, which has a more natural sound. It would be nice to have the NV5 sound a little brighter with a touch more string resonance. I own a Schimmel upright and a Kawai CA-111, and the results are the same. the acoustic being that touch freer and more natural, but the NV5 is close. It is nice to have a digital with a concert grand feel, but the NV5s has a real acoustic upright action. I definately recommend Kawai Digital Pianos. Kawai digital pianos sound quite eletronic when played or to a listener upclose. The sound transforms standing about a foot away. These are magic pianos equal to an German piano, and I have owned a few.
No competition here, K-500 sounds excellent, NV-5S sounds like there is a veil over the sound, sounds really muffled to me. Had similar experience in store comparing between CA99 and K-300. Went to the store to put money down for Novus-10S, did put down for K-800. Nothing beats a real piano (in similar brand, price level; whichever format it might be).
Thanks for the comparison!

to me the NV5 s has a nice sound seems more balanced or cleaner more like a grand piano, while the k500 seems louder yes but a lot muddier.
The same observation I made when was choosing between K200/300 and NV5S. In addition, NV5S has a deeper bass
probably since nv5s uses sk-ex grand piano samples
They both sound good.

It seems to me the volume level needs to be set higher on the Nv5s to compare to the k500. The K500 wins hands down in this demo
Also k500 placed in front of a wall vs nv5 in the open
Acoustic my favorite
Many thanks for the great comparison. Was the Nv5 recorded with a microphone? On this evidence K500 wins hands down.

The richness, fullness and dynamics from the K500 are miles away from the electrical NV-5S. The K500 is way better!
thx
Не корректное сравнение: слишком различаются условия записи инструментов.
NV5S sounds as clear as crystal
I liked NV5s sound.
Very close in sound. How do they compare in producing the tone?
Devi suonare meglio i pezzi che così non funziona proprio mi dispiace
