Likewise, in Canada. TCA Airline, and other companies, required a Nursing Diploma, to work as a 'Stewardess'. People were in much more qualified hands, in those days!

Holden had been so handsome- sadly, he did not age well...most likely due to his drinking.

Oddly, the only Oscar that Henry Fonda received was like Fedora's in this film : quite late, for lifetime achievements...

The film premiered in 1978. William Holden died at age 63 years, in 1981. According to the Los Angeles County Coroner's autopsy report, Holden bled to death in his apartment in Santa Monica, California, on November 12, 1981, after lacerating his forehead by slipping on a rug while intoxicated and hitting a bedside table. Marthe Keller is still alive and active in films and other artistic undertakings. - a live wire.

Wow, it feels and looks much older, like an early colour film from the late 50s-60s, swirly dramatic musical score too.

Interesting topic but awfully adapted. Where did they get the actresses for Fedora and Antonia? Their acting was worse than of an amateur, so much overplaying. For me, this movie gets a thumb down.

Wow, this is the movie version of a Thomas Tryon book I read as a preteen, Crowned Heads. That story of Fedora stuck with me. I found that fascinating. The film does not do justice to the book though 😢
But my favorite Thomas Tryon novel was Lady (I wonder if there's a film version). That book stirred my imagination that the scenes and descriptions are still vivid in my mind and made me feel as if I'm the protagonist in the story. I still have my copy bought second hand 39 years ago. Of course, a newer copy too but in it's digital format.
Hahaha.. just a middle aged book nerd. 😊

Saw it on its release, at the time... "Sunset Boulevard" will always remain Billy Wilder's unsurpassable noirish masterpiece about the Old Hwood mythology, but "Fedora" turns out to be still extremely enjoyable for film-buffs all the same, after quite a few further decades.
