My dad never came home from Vietnam. I was 4. For years I thought it was all a mistake and I would run into him on the street. Well done films like this one still rip me apart. Everything hits the mark!
My main issue was James blaming Julia. Second was James whining about Blake deploying. Dude, he's a soldier. So my issue was the whole James character. I'm possibly so harsh because I'm former military. But this was a great film.
@lawrenceking4144---Thank you for your service. This film was only a glimpse in their lives. We never know how we will react in certain situations and we don't know what they talked about after the initial shock of the loss. It could be that he was so happy for their relationship to move forward and just lashed out at Julia when he found out the news. Unfortunately some people have to have someone to blame for whatever reason. I agree with your comments, but also wish we could have seen his character in a different light.
Poignant seeing this after certain political pundits have criticized artists regarding Christmas horror stories and movies, but this reminds us that real life serves up sheer horror during any season.

James does not deserve him at all and whoever played James cannot act his scenes were cringe i couldn't even feel sad at what was happening cuz of his acting

I felt that so much. I know what its like to lose someone you were in love with. Especially since you'll never find someone like that ever again.
