I hit the Amish stores today. They had the big tubes of Jimmy Dean Sausage for $4.50. They also had bags of breakfast sausage links that are big enough for a hot dog bun! 60 links for $5.99! I popped 2 in the airfryer to try and my granddaughter and I loved them. I also bought bay leaves! Lol. I scored 2 new cast iron pans. I love Amish country!!

When we travel east from Colorado, we stop in Shipshewana. Love the town. Shop at E &S sales and Yoder Meats. This year is our 50th anniversary so we are going to see a new grandson and Shipshewana in the fall.

I ran out to the west side of Southern Michigan two weekends ago and stopped at one of the Amish stores. Got some great buys, non food. They didn't have some of the bulk foods I was hoping for. I may just need to drive over to Shipshewana and go to that bulk store when I need to refill all my spices!

I have a big bay tree in my garden ,it was from my sister in Greece, she grew it herself I love it ,and love cooking with it ,
So handy just going out and grabbing a couple when needed ,

Renee, I use green onions on almost everything. When they are all used I put the bottoms in a cup with a bit of room temp water and they will grow again.
I live close to Shipshawana, i don’t go there alot but i enjoy going. If you go to visitors center and ask they have a pamphlet where you get free bag of egg noodles and they are homemade and so good. I live in Michigan off the Indiana state line. I love your channel on bulk cooking. Thank you for the awesome recipes.
I started making my own algratin potatoes. I blanch my potatoes then throw them in the food processor . i then put them on parchment in a 8x8 brownie pan. Stick in the freezer. I make up my rue then my cheese sauce. I take them out of the freezer. Top with my sauce. Stick them back in the freezer. Then once completely frozen I stick them in the parchment paper in the freezer bag. Then when I want to make them. You can take them out frozen and pop them in your pan and bake 350 degrees for 25-30mins and is so easy.
We were just there this past Saturday! We camp near there half of the year and we go there all the time! So happy you made the drive out there :) They have a ton of good stuff!!
I love Shipshewana! I have family all over Indiana, and I try to go when I head up to visit. I'm going to try to buy a supply of dry goods next time I go.

I make the crescent pockets too! I snipped a bunch of my chives and made them chicken and chive cream cheese pockets. I also used left over roasted chicken, to make it even easier.

I have never been there. Looks amazing, I don’t drive any more; my vehicle 🚗 had some issues and it never was fixed properly so I do still have a liscense and I wouldn’t hesitate to head north. Wow you shop like I use to. You certainly cook on a larger scale than I, I enjoy watching your videos and watching your family on UTUBE. Your recipes look 👀 delicious and yummy. I wish we had more stores that sell in bulk around me. I would love to go to a amish store just once to get somethings. Maybe I can talk my hubby into doing a little road trip sometime. LOL. Also I use the bay leafs on and in my flour to keep the little bugs away. We have family that sends use home with a lot of flour and other commotites from hubby's reservation. So I use the bay leafs to keep the flour, because I don't have room in my freezer.
Bay leaves are good for keeping the bugs away.

I would go broke in the bulk food store !!! I’m sure the prices are way better than Sam’s & BJ’s which is all we have here & both are nearly a 60 mile drive . Thank you for bringing us along shopping ❤

It's just as good as shopping at the Amish stores. The bulk items are even cheaper than Sam's Costco and BJ's. I miss the Amish store from up north. The Amish called their store walmart. My dad used to pick a lot of them up and take them to "Wal-Mart", I loved shopping there.

I live about 1/2 hour from Shipse and make regular-ish runs to E&S. There are a few things I always buy and I always find something i didnt know I needed too! 😂

I live close to there. If you like E&S, try Forks just north of town or out at Middlebury. Not nearly as geared towards the tourist as E&S. IMO 😋
We here in Nebraska don't have any bulk grocery stores besides Costco or Sams. Don't know why, wish we did. Nancy from nebraska

Hey, I also love the potato stroganoff..my husband loves the lasagna..a little secret for making the potato stroganoff even better..add a can of drained peas..it is awesome! Give it a try!
I always add frozen peas and yes it just makes them better.

Hi Friend, We don’t know E&S stores here out west Northern California. Looks like some great deals. I buy dehydrated veggies off Amazon. I too make my Ramen, Pho and add a couple of tablespoons to the cooking stock. My Mom use to use it all the time back in the day. I believe it was McCormick or some other brand found in the spice section of stores. But I haven’t been able to find it in the stores in forever. So I Amazon it. I go to an Asian mkt here in town and get a huge bag of the Ramen noodle No season packet just the noodles. Those season packets are too high sodium. This way one can use as little as they want. Anyway thanks for listening my friend. 🤓. P. S. I also use the large elbows love Mac and cheese with the large elbows.

I wish we had a store like that in my area.
I never use bay leaves anymore since my crazy sister in law was living with us ten years ago. She put my roast on to cook while I was gone. When I came home, the smell in the house was overwhelmingly sickening. I lifted the lid on the crockpot and she had put 15 bay leaves in with the roast! I pulled them all out and had to rinse the roast under running water to try to get the smell/taste off. To this day, the smell of bay leaf makes me nauseous! Even rinsing the roast didn’t get rid of the strong taste. She told me her kids liked it that way. What on earth?
