Hi Everyone and Welcome Back To My Bucolic Life Channel. Meet my new sewing tutorial.
This little dress had a few aspects that require a bit "extra" to make up, but well worth it. I changed the interfacing to add extra above the roll line to create nice collar and lapels, I also changed the order of construction so that I could make my buttonholes while the front bodice piece was flat and also the side zipper. Instead of putting it in last, I put in the zipper while I could lay the dress out flat. I think it turned out great. Hope you like it!

Out of 4.4k views.....how come only 282 viewers gave her a thumbs up?. Com on people,,,she gives her time...her talent... knowledge is costly. She does it for free. We should at least give her a thumbs up.
Thanks! I feel seen 😉👍
Your video was recommended by RUclips. I walk 30 mins on treadmill in the morning usually watching shorter videos to keep me motivated and expand my very basic sewing knowledge and experience. I learned MORE real sewing tips and lessons in the first 30 min then I have the 3 weeks prior. Words I never thought I would say, can’t wait to hop back on tomorrow and each day next to finish this video and see what else you have on your channel. New follower. Thank you ❤
Oh my goodness! Thank you 😊
Winner, winner, prime rib dinner! You look particularly fabulous in that dress.
I'm so sorry about your beautiful cat. 21 years!He/she must have had a wonderful life in the farm with all the love and care. All animals are wonderful. And yes they do go to cat heaven. Thank you for the video even though it was a difficult time for you.
(( Hugs ))

I have been sewing for 50 years and have learned so much from you.
Perfect dress pattern for formal occasions. Something the Princess of Wales would probably wear made in light pastel shades.
I love your tip about fusing interfacing to your pattern pieces!
Just discovered your channel. I can’t binge watch because they’re but slowly getting through them. This is the content I want! Perfect. Don’t change a thing 😂
Yay! Thank you ☺️
The fusible interfacing on the back of often used patterns is pure gold! Such a good idea!!
Turned out nicely. Your selves came out well.
Very attractive and chic dress with an excellent fit. Nice!
very beautiful & looks great on you. Sympathies for your kitty.
Sorry to hear about Thumbelina Marie, but what a fantastic age for a cat- obviously well loved and cared for.
Thank you for all your tips. And walking us through step by step.
another winner ! glad you went with the grey...looks great on you
Hi Marie. That dress looks lovely and I like it every much. The colour is perfect for that style and it should be warm for winter. Take care.
Nice dress and good fit. I like it.
(Sony to hear about your kitty. She will always be in your heart and mind)
It looks fabulous on you. Very nice. I like it a lot.🎉
Lovely dress for everyday. I have learnt so much from you. Thank you for giving your time and knowledge so freely.
I have two kittens and If they live 20 years I will be 92 then. I hadn't even thought of that. So, I told my 8 year old granddaughter that she needs to make sure they love her so she can take care of them if I get to old to do it. Quite a sobering thought. Love your dress. The corduroy worked well for the style.
Looks amazing on you. I love your videos, you give so much information and detail.
I think it looks very nice on you❤
Looks great. I really like
It, and Grey is not my
Color. Looks great on
You. CONGRATS.
Loving Juliet 💝
Woohoo! I just purchased this pattern 😂😂😂
WOW! Gorgeous dress!
Oh, that is so pretty on you and you did such an amazing job
I really like that dress on you it is very flattering to your figure, not a lot of fluff…..you do a very good job w what you make but so far this is my favorite
It is cute. I love the grey. I absolutely love patterns like this.
I have never seen buttonhole scissors before! I always use a piece of wood under a chisel razor and do overlapping or short cuts. I ordered a pair today after seeing this video. Thanks
What a pleasure it is to watch you sew a project...and I'll add my voice to all the others saying "it looks fabulous on you!.
What a clever pattern repair & pattern life extension idea with the fusible interfacing! 😊 Love your Juliette, not the least because she’s red.☺️ She’s got some gingerbread-ish metal work on the (needle) end which is just lovely. Nobody’s making such decorative elements on sewing machines these days that I have seen anyway. Your dress came out great!
Juliette thanks you too 😊
Very Pretty!! Marie.
Hi love this dress. As usual learnt lots
I’m sure you will find an occasion to wear
Great make
I love this dress on you! It is a very flattering silhouette for you . A home run for sure! Thanks for sharing!
Excellent! I always learn something from you.
Cute dress!
I know you started out with the idea of making this dress with a plaid flannel but ended up changing fabrics... It would be fun to see it actually made with the plaid flannel. Maybe you could consider making it again? Just a thought.
That dress looks so lovely on you.❤🧵🪡
looks great Marie!
Thanks for that great tip on using fusible interfacing on pattern pieces!
Love the style, u look good in it!
It's beautiful!! Looks fabulous on you!!
I love that dress! It's really pretty in that corduroy. And your machine-Juliet is gorgeous too. Super great job on both. So enjoyed this.
It wasn't what you had planned but this is still cute n a good transitional spring n fall dress... thank you for clear instructions on a bicep adjustment... n finally... so sorry for your loss of your kitty I like to think she is chasing butterflies in kitty heaven...🫂
This dress suits you really, really well. You again used your great skills to sew this up. This pattern could also indeed be used to make a glamourous version in a special fabric.
Love it,very flattering on you!
I love the dress! You look wonderful in it. I’m doing a curtsy! 🫅
I have this pattern in my stash! I’m going to give it a try, I love the solid color and the lapel. Arms are a perfect fit too! Thanks again for your techniques and your tutorials.
My thoughts exactly!! Why not?? It’s your dress. Let it make you happy!!😊
looking good sweetie
You make me want to sew corduroy.
Lovely. This is one of my favorites you have made. Very flattering.
It looks great!!
I bought this pattern to sew the view B for my daughter . Lucky me your sew along will teach me some very needed pieces of advice and tricks
Dress turned out really well; it looks so good on you. I had doubts at first about the corduroy, but it's lovely. I love my Singer 15, and the buttonholer.
Well done! A versatile pattern.
Wow, does that look nice on you. I did like the way you did the interfacing as it really made the lapel fold very nicely.
Loved seeing your machine. She's beautiful and would love to see your process of painting her.
Gorgeous on you! Where is the faded part of the fabric, can’t see it?
So nice i like it
Thank you, Marie for making the pattern I suggested. Now I’m really excited to get started sewing view B while referring to your video. The dress looks really nice on you. Great job! ❤
Kate has such class. I love this but would need to drop some weight to wear it. I iron patterns to interfacing too.
I love it. It's so flattering and looks comfortable. I think it could be made to look casual or more formal depending on the material and the buttons used. I'm going to make one. Thanks for the encouragement ❤❤
I like this. I’ll be purchasing this pattern. Great job, as usual! It was so satisfying when the waist seams matched perfectly with the invisible zipper.
Was getting worried when I didn’t see any post this morning
Beautiful! Thank you for all the tricks and tips.
Watch the whole show. Thank you I learn a few tricks. I haven't show for years starting simple first. I used to do even jackets. Look the dress looks great on you. I will have to fine the pattern a good pattern for us okder ladies. Canada
That is a great dress, love that pattern, looks great on you👍🏻
Cute dress. Love it on you. Great job!
Your dress turned out great! Looks good on you! I liked the longer zipper, and the way you did the sleeve. I was wondering where did you get your dress form?
I made my dress form. There's another video from about 7 months ago where I showed how I did that. Let me know if you can't find it and I'll try to get a link
Extra points for the pattern save 😂 I have used freezer paper and ironed the pattern to it. The wax melts and it’s very stable, pretty cost effective too.
I have this beautiful sewing pattern ❤
Hey There Lovely Marie😊 I'm watching this 10 mths post publication. Saw the fade line. I wondered, could the fabric have been cut along that line and stitched back to put the fade in the seam line, or, if not finding the fade until after cutting started, could garment be dyed? I'm up to the 28min mark. I look forward to the finished garment ❤❤❤
Lovely dress and it makes you look good. By the way what’s with those scissors used to open the buttonholes? Did I see that right?😧
I had never seen those buttonhole scissors before either. 😳
I, too, was like does she realize she’s cutting from the edge and then she has a button hole. Sewing magic!
They are special buttonhole scissors with a little gap where they won't cut for about half an inch. So fun 😁
Would you recommend doing some extra stitches around those collar points to make sure it is strong enough?
Can never go wrong with extra stitching 😊
What brand is your water soluble basting tape? I just bought a brand new package of Singer brand because you said it was a good thing to use instead of pins, and mine didn't stick to either the zipper tape or fabric, but it stuck to me and itself though. I really want to try it and have it work. Next time I will try to very slightly heat it before putting it on my zipper and hopefully that will make it stickier.
By the way, where did you get the interesting weights from
Back in the 80s. Now they are vintage 😁 so probably only on eBay.
I have been watching your videos for quite a while. I really love your whole additude of life. All seeing the animals and, the building s, and the scener is so touching to me. I am 70 year sold and have been sewing since I was five. I am by no means an expert, but I have an observation to make. I may be totally wrong, but here goes. I think that when you are adjusting the pattern to fit your body, it would work out better it you first go by the shoulder measurement and adjust for your breast. When I see you wearing your finished product, it seems to me that the shoulders are too wide. The breast area looks perfect, but I always want to go over to you to pinch up the shoulders. Ii have hurt your feelings, I am sorry. I just want to send my comment s😅 I love how to teach as you sew it is very easy to follow and enjoyable to listen and watch. Thank you so much for doing what you do. If my comment is not for you, just ignore me. Oh, and so sorry about your cat I don't know if that is the one that claimed the ironing board, but I always got a chuckle when you had to move it. My favorite cat is a black one.
Looks much nicer on you than your form. The clour suit's you.
