Just looking at it quick, looks like you could make that adjustable with 2 pieces of different sized PVC on your long piece, slide in and out, maybe a few holes drilled to put in a bolt to lock it. Season is over here, so I might have to try building one in the shop for next year!
You might want to put a zip tie on the trigger by the eye bolt. So the trigger doesn't go down the hole when triggered... Just a thought that's what I do 🤘
Love this concept. You should try adding an expansion coupling to make the length adjustable for different rods. You can find them in electrical sections in home depot. I will definitely be making this.
Made one tonight!! Just outta what I had, not exactly this, but used his trigger, I used a wire for a drop ceiling, let's see how it does!! Going to make one packable like he did tomorrow if I'm happy with it!!! Thank you so much for your insite!! Your a gem buddy!!! Ps I am going to make it adjustable tho, hope you have a video on how to do that now!!!
What a great idea good job. Jaw jackets are not cheep. What if you were take a small peace of heat shrink and put it on where your rod loads making it slide off better.
I subbed and thumbs up - love this idea and cheap too! I can experiment as well with it. Thanks for sharing. Saw your Maine brookie vid - very nice. You asked for feedback: I love to do it all in fishing, fresh and salt... so fly, ice, spin, cast, surfcast, troll...kayak etc. keep em coming. I fish in MA, NH, ME VT, PA, NY and hopefully soon Canada.
Wow I commented and you like befor I watched your video for the 5th or 6th time to make sure I had it all good for the morning, thanks!! True man there!! I am subscribed looking forward to many other things you can teach me and my 2 little girls!!! They went out ice fishing a few days ago for the first time, they love it out there!!!
Awesome modification on the trigger. I have one with the short trigger and it's frustrating to get hooked up. I will be modifying mine. You say that you can adjust the sensitivity, can you explain that a little, I don't quite understand how that is done.
@@BendItFishing Thank you. That makes sense. My friend caught several fish on his, that he made off of this pattern. He still has the short trigger, as do I. I didn't even get a bite on any one of my 5 lines.I hope to try again soon.
Might want to check the fishing regulations in your state before you use one of these on public waters. In Minnesota, automatic hook setting devices are illegal. IMO, this is not sportsman-like. If you are struggling to feed your family and you live in a state where this is legal ... I do not see a problem.
It's legal here in NH, hook setting devices have been around for centuries. They actually gut hook fish way less then normal tipups especially when practicing catch and release
@@BendItFishing I never doubted that it was legal in your state. The purpose of my comment is more for the unsuspecting viewer who assumes that since you are doing this in your state, then it must be legal everywhere.
Instead of calling it unsportsmanlike, I think having the ability of positive hook sets on a set line, instead of a fully swallowed presentation on a set, gives you better release success on fish that you don't want to keep.
Some places alow you to use them as long as it is the action of the rod that sets it..... ie no spring to sep the hock or somthing, most places as long as it is rod doing the work it's ok..... that is how I took the wording atleat lol, fish on everyone!!!
@Dave Martino and ya you said it very rude, better it set in the lip the. In the guil or further down, your problem miss reading the rule, s You should post it for your state, maybe you missing out on a great pice of innovation that helps not hock fish bad.... cheers buddy happy fishing!!!

Thanks so much for making it clear and simple, and not babbling on and on like so many tubers. Very well done!
You're welcome!!
Gotta rack up that watch time lol
Talk for 10 minutes and give em the goods at the very end
Great DIY project! And getting positive hook sets on a set line is awesome!!
Yes! Thank you!
Wooooow gud job angkel, tengkyu
That's awesome. Great design.

That's a great idea... I was thinking of just cutting additional holes for the T bracket to slide thru for shorter rods..

wonder how well it will set?? hope you have a video!! Thank you for your help!! I'll find out how did tomorrow lol, thanks good fishing buddy!!
Love these videos. Your killing it man.
Thank you!
@@BendItFishing Thank you. These ideas are huge money savers.
Nice! Thanks
Easy peasy great video
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
Been using them since the 80's finally did a short to show how I did it
I don’t see the short; I’m interested.
Very nice

If it's the hard kind of heat shrink then possibly
I made one of these but using a mousetrap for the trigger, works much better
That's awesome! DM on facebook or instagram a picture and I'll post it on my RUclips community

Sounds like me like to fish everywhere for everything! Tight lines!
Cool homemade jaw jacker..... i assume you leave the bail open when you set it up?
Bail closed low drag
Show how to make the trigger😊

You can bend the piece that goes into the eyelet up so it doesn't grab as much

How does this work in windy conditions? Does the wind cause false trigger action at all for you?
It does okay in the wind. If it's really windy I just set it a little harder
How much force does it take to release the jaw jacker to set the hook?
Very little when set correctly
On the trigger part that goes in the eyelet, did you ever try a slight angle on it? May release better than dead flat
I tweak it depending on how sensitive I want it to be
How much down force does it take to release the the rod?
Very little depending on how it's set
i can't get 1 1/4 inch PVC! Would 1 1/2 inch work or would it wobble too much i'm wondering
Ya 1 1/2 will work good luck
Somtimes its easier to pick up the plastic electrical conduit. HD in Canada sometimes doesn’t stock the small PVC pipe.
