I love this! I'd really, really like to see more videos on jewelry photography. I'd love to see you use shiny silver jewelry. It's much harder to photograph than an antique silver look. I'm also interested in seeing more about lighting options and techniques for bright silver jewelry. Thanks so much! This was super helpful!
I was so excited when I received notification of the new video tips for photographing jewelry. I only now have had the down-time to view it and it did not disappoint. Thank you for these great tips and examples of jewelry photography. These tips are great inspiration to get me started re-shooting my product photos. Please keep them coming!
Cari!! I am so glad you were able to join us for the live premiere and get excited about these tips!! I can't wait to see you use them in your own photos!! 🥰💖 Also, cheers to being the first comment in April!! 🌷
Hello yes I would love to have more videos like this short but effective also how to create background (and where to take pictures at home for jewels that will be super helpful) ❤️
I love the tips, but I would really like tips on photographing just the jewelry. It’s one of the hardest things to photograph. I prefer my jewelry to be without stuff in the frame. Would love tips on that. Thank you!! Love the surfaces!!
This could not have come at a better time! Getting ready to photograph a set of jewelry by a local small business this week! Thank you for these awesome videos!
Super helpful. I'd love tips on lighting for jewelry photography. I've noticed you used different angles for the silver more shiny necklace. Tips on that would be awesome.
Thank you for the video- I am just starting out in my jewelry business and I am learning how to shoot on your surfaces. I would love to see more styling tips - especially for necklaces and using the gloss white surface.
This is so great! I love how you incorporate someone holding the item. Do you have any videos or tips on how you would photograph something like a toy?
Thank you for the jewelry tips! I struggle with not overwhelming the shot with too much ephemera, so this and your other tutorial have helped. My next biggest struggle and I think it would make a great tutorial is how to get a clear, color matching, very close up shot of the item for sale - especially with a phone camera.
We've got a mobile white balance video coming VERY soon!! It'll absolutely help with capturing the correct colors on phones! Thanks for watching this one!! 🥰
I love all the texture tips! Using a face scrub, what?! This gives me some great justifications for purchasing lots of fun props! Hmm, what can I buy to help create depth, texture, & dimension? I have kid hands so can’t use those for scale but everything else is game on!!
Very helpful video! I was getting really stuck on having all my photos look boring and flat and your explanations of how to make them more interesting really helped. I am checking out the surfaces you offer on your website. I admit, though, I have a space problem and am trying to photograph in a very cramped location. Will have to work on that.
In terms of light, I recommend a continuous LED light with a softbox for any kind of product photography. For an LED light, I recommend the Godox SL60W, this gives you plenty of light and the ability to do photo and video work because it stays on. It also provides very neutral light, and I love B&H Photo and Video, their customer service can help you find the right softbox in the best shape for your particular product and direct you to the best stand for your light and softbox! While this light may not be considered the most portable, it is still a wonderful light. I hope that helps! There are certainly tons and tons of other light options available, but I prefer LED over fluorescent lights due to their energy efficiency and the lack of light flicker. Fluorescent bulbs tend to flicker and leave uneven color casts on your subject, but they are significantly cheaper than LED lights.
Hey!! Unfortunately, we’re only able to ship to US addresses at this time due to shipping/customs logistics (they’re crazy for items this large). I really appreciate you letting me know that you’d like to see shipping to South Africa. If/when we’re able to ship internationally, we’ll definitely announce it via email so make sure you’re subscribed to our emails! 💖
@@replicasurfaces I'll try and see if I can get them sent to my friend in the USA then she can ship it to me here in SA. I'll pay for customs as well. She has a company that assists with sending things here from the USA . But thank you. We have a lack of these in SA as there's no one selling this kind and we shop from Amazon but the quality there isn't that great
I actually photograph custom nails for my business--it's much like jewelry, but I use a (silicone) hand model. Looks better than it sounds--and a touch more challenging than jewelry in a box. Any tips? (Pardon the pun...)

What's a good portable lighting piece to use for this type of photographs?
