for everyone to understand You don’t need to buy a whole new PC to get unbanned. You can just replace your old motherboard with a new one. This will reset the IP linked to your hardware ban, and you should be good to go!

They're doing a lot of things lately. Lots of new little bugs that have never, ever been there before. 5 Online's last days will be/are being used to test features for 6 Online.

Rockstar said that the Steam Deck doesn't support BattlEye, which is actually a flat out lie because it's been supported in Linux since 2021. Valve needs to talk to Rockstar about this situation.
Hackers already found ways to bypass battleye. So in the end all it did was fuck over Linux users for no reason

As of September 17 2024, GTA Online no longer works on the Steam Deck due to Rockstar requiring BattleEye, but not supporting the Linux Version of BattleEye - this may be fixed in an upcoming Proton update (please pin this!)
And now I can't play the game on my Steam Deck any more.

I am now locked out from playing GTA Online because I'm on Linux, which requires the Proton compatibility layer and Rockstar hasn't enabled support for that (while other publishers have). All Linux and Steam Deck players are currently unable to play the game.
Yup dealing with that now, I was in the middle of playing it this morning on the deck grinding for crates and then the patch pushed

Valve activated it at LEAST 3 years ago... whenever Anti-cheat came out on Linux.

This anticheat update broke the game. My fps halved due to it. There is a lot of lag in invite only sessions and the game stutters a lot.
Welcome to battleye. Doesn't stop modders, but does make your whole pc run like dogsheet and also exposes you to data leaks

My pc isn’t great either, I was getting 70 80 fps but now I get 45 max, sometimes it gets as low as 20’s. R* has blessed its player base with another great update.

As someone who plays mostly invite only or closed friends, this benefits me in 0 ways but now I have yet another rootkit on my computer.

I never went to public lobbies. Ever! I grinded and did everything in private lobbies. Now rockstar decides i cant play the game on my deck and now i cant play the game i been grinding.
This has to be a dream there’s no way I actually get to play GTA without my game crashing every five minutes
Today i went into the public lobby because i heard that they added anti cheat. And damn it was good to play without cheaters in the lobbies. I finally have hope for this game.

Im not assuming GTAO will continue with GTA6 I just hope they do something special with the Online character like a final DLC where we get killed, betrayed, caught and put in to jail (I would rather die) or something special and not just shutting down the servers to make place when its time.
Tbh this anti-cheat is really annoying. I use mods just to mess with my cars and never even leave invite only sessions, but I understand why rockstar did it and it's a big improvement.

It feels like the closer we get to GTA VI the more rockstar becomes closer to the community, I'm starting to think there were slight changes in the management teams at rockstar and it's a good change.

Maybe I’m projecting here but my guess is that a lot of the QoL changes and misc. improvements we have seen recently is because of a single employee getting fed up with all the nonsense and then deciding to do something about it

I find it more likely that GTA 6 is costing them both arms and legs to make, and if it doesn't do well, then they will be up Schitt's Creek without even a boat. Battleye Anticheat is so bad, as a former dayz server owner who ran battleye it doesn't catch cheaters easy but once it catches a code you will get mass bans.
i give them two weeks before modders can get new cheats that can counter their anti-cheat :))))
The only thing they're beating with the anti-cheat is Linux and Steam Deck.

It's next to impossible to ban all cheaters on PC lol, but an effort to minimize it is appreciated. Even those who despised the cheaters ended up downloading cheats as well just to survive a damn server. At that point, it was pointless to play and I left, only to come back to try out an update. Other than that, they let cheaters run the gtao servers for pc for too long.
At the expense of Linux Users, and Steam Deck users. Linux and Steam Deck can no longer play GTAV online. It's 9 years too late for them to be adding anti cheat when players already have cash the size of the US GDP

Linux users will be angry. I play most of my games on Linux and this update has broken GTA Online. A big chunk of new players are SteamDeck owners, who just bought the game to play on their handheld. Rockstar did a dumb dumb.

Don’t give your praise yet. For one, hardware bans are easily circumvented, and have had workarounds for ages, same with IP bans. And just because there is an anti cheat doesn’t mean it’ll be effective. And it may prevent cheating early on for a few weeks but the cheat devs WILL find solutions, and if R* doesn’t keep up with it and keep combating it, then it’ll just go back to how it is now in no time.
TLDR: Save your breath and wait until we see actual results and continuous support to keep the anti cheat up to date.
Like that most kids and teens can solve a hardware ban. Its not easy like you are telling. You can't make a game 100% cheat free, but gta online is defo something that can be improved a lot by a anti cheat

that's the thing with anti cheats its a cat and mouse race. Some periods the game will be infected with a lot of cheaters, but you will have periods that the experience will be stable
But i'm afraid gta is just way to popular, and that rockstar is just not doing enough pro active. Like really sueing tons of cheat sites or modders

Bad code that gets pushed into the kernel can cause bluescreens like the recent crowdstrike fiasco. Anti cheats like battleye run in kernel. Where if bad code gets pushed, it can cause our PC's to bluescreen.

Thank goodness!! The hackers have been mental this week. Kept getting cars spawn on me and spawning me in random locations with the whole lobby, then the hacker runs everyone over. Fingers crossed I can do my sell mission online now.

I think rockstar was testing all the cheats and hacks in GTA 5 online so they can fix the loop holes in code and gta 6 online will be anti cheat. Now when GTA 6 is near, they are implementing anti cheats to check their plan works for GTA 6.
Same anti cheat as siege. Therefore, safe to say, nothing will happen and cheater will still blantantly cheat :)

Yeah I almost deleted my character on PC until I remembered I have several cars that were removed, and I could probably never get again. I am glad I didn't.

allow me to say that rockstar banned people in the past and revoked access to the game on PC before and the only way around that was to repurchase the game which many did multiple times over
so if people are willing to keep throwing money at rockstar to cheat in GTAO don't sit by and expect people to not to resort to buying a whole new gaming rig just to play the game again and also the anti-cheat won't stop them anyway because people will likely find a way around it and given their laziness it'll be another 11 years before all workarounds get patched so again don't underestimate cheat users and cheat makers
Both are great. Anti-Cheat is better. You can't even play GTA Online on PC in a Public Lobby anymore. You'll spawn into a lobby with four players and all of them are just waiting for a new player they can grief with God mode and dropping Bombushka's on you.

This might be me putting my tin foil hat on, but to me this seems like they're experimenting with the anti-cheat just to see how well it'll work for GTA 6 Online (or whatever they wanna call it)
