I was born and raised in Chicago, but after working 12 years in the financial Industry regulating the futures and options markets at the CME/CBOT I decided to pursue my passion fishing professional tournaments and left my full time corporate job. At that point, I moved to Junction City, WI with my wife Sara and two boys Hank and Duke. I've been fishing professionally since 2011 and full-time since 2015. I've qualified for seven MLF Championships and won over a half million in tournament winnings at the professional level.

Watching the tournament and seeing you win was like my team winning the superbowl. I've watched your channel and learned so much. This summer I've caught more fish and caught pb bass, trout, and perch...and I'm not done yet. You have blessed your subs with knowledge and I truly believe God blessed you back. Great video, I watched the entire thing. I live in TX so what applies to me is your discussion of what you did, where you were, what bait you were using, the time factor, etc. So I just analyzed what I did this morning... where I started, where was the sun, what lures I tried, where I went to next, etc. etc. etc. I became aware of arbitrary activities hours after they occurred. Eye opening, thanks to listening to your analysis of your tournament. Muchas gracias from Spicewood TX. 😀

Congratulations on the win and thanks so much for the detailed video explaining your practice, tournament and thought process! Very entertaining and helpful. I fish those pools once a year for a week in rhe fall, probably last 25 years. So its super interesting to see your video. In the last ten years I've fished near record high and low water levels over there. Always do well but its sometimes a struggle to figure out. Can't imagine the anxiety you had waiting to lock back. Best wishes in the future! I'm a follower of yours, the most humble, knowledgeable, fisherman and person I've come across!

Rest up and start doing your homework for Redcrest & BPT. I fought leukemia & stem cell transplant complications for last 4 yrs but God has decided it was not my time yet & will let me fish. I am cancer free and doing pretty good. Hopefully I'll be on the water for the Fall feeding spree and then start hitting tournaments next year like I used to. I have a ton of new tackle/rods/reels including all your Core tackle & can't wait to get out there. 32 rods all rigged up, Dakota lithium batteries in the Triton &ready to hit the water. Congrats again on your win & I know it feels good to be a Champion!

Matt is there a rod manufacturer that sells mhx rods with Winn grip’s similar to the ones you build? I don’t have any of the gear like you’ve shown in past videos necessary to make a custom rod (maybe someday).
mudhole could probably guide you towards a custom rod builder that will make you one of my rod kits.

I've heard before where anglers have 25 rods on their deck and only use 3 to win. That's how you know you found an effective pattern. As long as I've been following you, it seems fitting that it was a wacky rig that put you in the winner's circle.

Matt what caused you to rule out pool 8 as an option
My one day of practice on pool 8 was terrible. It’s generally my favorite place to fish
Killing me with this double "decker" barge, double lockage tow, double for short. Another thing to consider is have a marine radio you can talk to them on channel 13 the traffic channel, channel 14 bridge and lock channel, could talk directly to the boats to find out their plans and they can tell you who else is around, haven't seen an app worth a darn for commercial traffic

I love River fishing the best. But as you said all it takes is some rain and next thing you know a spot, Eddie, or Sandbar you used to have lots of success on no longer exists
