My husband and I visited Brugge for the day two weeks ago. It was a port of call on a Norwegian cruise. I was totally enchanted. It’s a town I’d love to visit again. Research reminded me of the horrible loss of life the Jewish community in Brugge suffered during WWII. Horribly sad.
Ahw great timing, I'm going this week to a wedding in Bruges and will spend a few days extra there to visit Gent. I've been in Bruges before but never in Gent. Excited 😊
Bruges is AMAZING but more for tourists. If you want to live life go to "student town" Gent. The fries are fried twice in animal fat. first on a low temperature to "poach" them. Let them cool off and then shortly fry a second time on high temperature to get the outside crispy. If you make fresh fries wash them first before frying to get rid of the starch.
To be honest when it comes to budget, we really just try to be as cheap as we can be in the country we are in. So Europe budget versus SEA is very different. We do find accommodations are always the most expensive. So if you can find ways to cut cost on that (staying with friends, house sitting, hostels ) that will help in Europe. Also although we did eat and buy a lot of food in the video, we we are somewhere for more than one day we will buy groceries, have picnics, etc to save money. I knew places with glutenfree beer, i dont have reaction on beer with much alcohol but there dont exist a test that measure this.
