Very cool. Nice review. Thank you. Looks like a micro version of the BB6. Numerous distinct features of Wilhelm Bubits' designs are seen here. The hooded ejection port, rear locking lug, internal ejector, the take down mechanism, the trigger mechanism, no exposed slots on the bottom of the slide or rear cover, the magazine retention tab, ambidextrous safety, and more are all seen in the BB6. Even the pin placements look virtually identical. Looks like an excellent execution by Kimber.
I just watched the same review of this firearm with Hickok 45. He stated the take down of this pistol was hard to accomplish. That's not what I just saw with Sootch
I went to buy a carry gun and had the Sig 365 in my hand and out of the corner of my eye I saw the Mako it came with 5 mags a Kydex holster and range bag on sale for the same price. I was hesitant at first because of all the research and reviews I did. I picked the Mako grabbed a couple boxes of ammo and went to range. I fell in love with it. I have probably put 1000 rounds though it no issues and although I have Holuson on all my other guns the Crimson Trace is pretty darn good red dot for being under $150.
Very good video Sootch! Just wanted to add something I did to mine, on the bottom front side of the 13rd mag I stimpled It where it’s smooth. It sure helps the pinky finger get a good grip.
I shoot left handed & the shrouded ejection port is of particular interest to me. I own several pistols that throw the spent casing back towards my face. I’ve had hot brass go down the collar of my shirt. Funny for onlookers, but not the shooter! Anyway does the shrouded port effectively direct the brass perpendicular to the firearm as it appears in the videos I’ve watched? If yes, that’s a huge plus for us southpaws…
I can say it does not like 147 grain ammo. It will not eject the casing well if at all. And the casing eject striagh to the side from what I have seen in my experience
I loved my Kimbers and wish I could disagree with you but.. All 3 spent time back at the factory. My Ultra 45 shot 7 inches low at 7 yards straight out of the box, my Micro 9 the front sight fell of on the first shot and it had to have a whole new slide. My Micro 380 needed complete new internals after being my carry gun for 2 years.. it is the only 1 still have.
We can hope. #1 gun among my friends that went back to the factory was kimbers and Sig, CZ, Glock, S&W, and Berrettas are their favorites. Springfield 1911s with high round counts too. But the Springfields are all at > 18,000 rounds. Not the Kimbers
@@mia1shooter Call it what you want. I think in 2015 Kimber had major quality control issues. Every gun maker has issues, in particular new designs. E.g., A friend was on a Sheriff department who rejected 1st year Gen 4 Glock 19s. They had malfunctions in trials. Note: Gen 5 passed. No issues until they broke 12,000 rounds. You do not learn about reliability from people who only shoot a few boxes. My friends racked and I up round counts when ammo was cheap. Seriously, how many guns have you fired over ten thousand rounds through? How many tens of thousands of rounds are through your favorite gun? I'm at 28,000 through my favorite Sig, broke 10,000 in 3 other guns (multiple brands). I have safe queens too.

If this is what you like. Another little black pistol. I would definitely go for the SIG 365 over this Kimber or Hellcat . Just nothing to write home about. But great review 👍
I just did pick up the Kimber range pack one 11 round magazine four 13 round magazines. The weird thing every magazine is stamped 10 rounds. The flush mag holds 11 the extended one holds 13. But yes, they are all stamped 10 rounds only have witness holes for 10 rounds. Weird.
This is a huge improvement for Kimber. I’m sure they’ll sell a lot of them if they don’t have problems. This pistol actually seems to work! But the small ejection port and the limited choices for red dots could be a problem. I’d like to put a Trijicon RMR CC on it and I’d like a bigger ejection port to avoid malfunctions if I decide to shoot it left handed. I don’t have a lot of confidence in the durability of the crimson trace optic and it’s not adjustable.
You referred to the ejection port location as a positive, but others are reporting this could interfere with left handed shooters. Can you have a lefty shoot a few mags and let us know if they have any issues please.

The reach was being limited so I re-uploaded it and they monetized this one. It's not a lot but gets higher on the search list so it's worth it. Always playing the game..... Thanks Big Red
11:47 That's not really something new, it's the same idea used on the 1911 and Browning Hi Power, locking lugs that fit into the matching notches in the top of the slide, except 1911 and High Power use two locking lugs, and they are locked in from the chamber block. This Kimber uses one lug and it's right on top of the chamber. I actually think it gives LESS stability than Glock and most other guns that use ejection port for lock up. Because you can cut that notch only so deep into the slide, otherwise you'd cut through the slide. So your locking lug can't be too tall either. Whereas those that use ejection port for lock up can use the full thickness of the slide, and the matching locking ridge on the chamber can be equally thick. Now that's stability :)
It's actually the exact same arrangement as the BB6 by Wilhelm Bubits, which is quite an excellent pistol, definitely different from Browning lockup. It results in less barrel tilt, which was one of his primary goals in developing it. Less barrel tilt results in more linear recoil and increased reliability of ejection and chambering due to more linear forces involved on the moving parts. As far as stability, I guess that depends on what one means. Definitely the hooded ejections port results in a more structurally stable slide. The locking surfaces are not less so there is no loss there. I have a BB6 and have discussed these matters with Bubits himself as well as seen various of his prototypes in action. Since he did contract design work for Glock, and designed the Glock 20 and 21, I think he understands the matter of comparing this design to Glock. I would suggest picking one up and trying it, I know I am getting one.
@@FernandoChaves Yeah saw some pics/videos before. It's the same guy that designed Steyr M and Caracal. They kinda look... too different. Caracal is the best looking out of the bunch, but still Glock would be a beauty queen in comparison :)
@@harrycallahan9733 That's him. He has almost 100 firearm patents, if not more. Bubits was consulting with Glock in the early days of the brand when he was a police officer. I think he understands a duty pistol, GTW, and EDC piece. It's not about aesthetics, it's about function and reliability. I consider him the premier independent designer of our time, yet relatively unknown to the masses. He is quite humble, but seeing him shoot is like watching Mr. Rogers fused with The Terminator. LOL! The Glock is the Kleenex of pistols today. There are numerous "clones" of equal quality. The BB6, and this Kimber offering, are a horse of a different color. They do not even really give a nod to Glock. They are a different animal. The Glock is still stuck with a polymer covered steel magazine only because of the Glock "philosophy" of polymer. They could gain an advantage of capacity without all that polymer bulk surrounding the steel magazine but they refuse to. I would point out the MBX Defender Series Carry Magazines as an excellent example. Pricey for sure, but clearly Glock should have departed from polymer covered steel magazines in favor of capacity long ago IMHO. This Kimber is so much a departure from the rest of the pack, I wonder how many realize how true that really is. Personally, I am very excited by it and am looking forward to having one. If it is everything that the design elements add up to, and everything that the reviews indicate, it is certainly a remarkable benchmark in this genre of pistols IMHO. As it is, every review I see says they have never seen such features and/or that they are unique. I have seen all of it except the grip texture in the BB6. In an age of grip tape and home stippling, grip texture is a minor element IMHO, easier to personalize than even buying grips for an old school steel frame pistol.
Is it available without a useless red dot?Just don’t see the need on an EDC carry, point shoot pistol. Reminds me a little of the Beretta PX4 I sold. Just don’t think the world needs another striker fired PEZ dispenser. Try the Sig P938 and you’ll never pick up a striker fired micro again.
That's pretty nice little gun though I love my Hellcat don't keep using it though and also what is that floating thing you're using you said it so fast I couldn't quite understand I'd like to get one for myself
Used too be a kimber fanboy since before it was a thing too be a kimber fanboy but they have seriously lost their lust for quality control in the past 15 yrs and I just don’t get excited about anything they do anymore. I still have my old ones but the new ones I do have they don’t get any use and will likely eventually get re homed Probably the only thing I do think they still do well is some of the rifles and their new revolvers are ok although most seem very heavy for a carry pistol maybe the longer barrel options would be ok for match shooting or hunting 🤷♂️in the long run if it’s newer than 15 yrs old and has the kimber name I’m just not sold anymore maybe they will pull something out their butt with some new polymer guns
All these amazing new designs and materials shows just how average glock have become, The polymer they use is such low quality no real care about improvement knowing they don't have to bother, Can you imagine glock being a new company today and coming to market with their current product line, what would people say then, Glock to me is basically a steel slide hi point, there's nothing wrong with that but there is just so much more and better for the money, I love these newer grip materials especially the glass filled nylon I think that's what it's called, They really look nice, And this kimber is sweet looking the slide looks amazing I like the ejection port, I just looks like a quality product, The newer guns coming out just look amazing really finished well even more affordable ones,.
@@arch3088 He didn't bash them. He made the observation that they should improve their product. Don't give me the, if it ain't broke line. Glock fan boys like yourself need to realize there are better options out there for the money. I carry a Glock when im on patrol. It's a good service gun. It's not my favorite. If they were innovative, instead of hashing out the same thing over and over, they would probably be my favorite. Nothing wrong with vanilla, but I like chocolate sauce on mine.

Do you have for the near future a review on the Mossberg MC2sc?
The R7 doesn't get the optic dirty like the Shield Plus, P365 and the Hellcat does because of the loaded chamber indicator on top of the gun
if you're using an optic on a cc gun, you lack intelligence.
Small SA usually don't like HP.
Great review, but when I see the ejection port on the side of the slide. Hi Point comes to mind for some reason.😂
I want one
Just ordered mine’ yeah
Oh 677 optics installed from kygunco
Glock 26 customized?
My go to EDC glock 26!!
All these amazing new designs and materials shows just how average glock have become,
The polymer they use is such low quality no real care about improvement knowing they don't have to bother,
Can you imagine glock being a new company today and coming to market with their current product line, what would people say then,
Glock to me is basically a steel slide hi point, there's nothing wrong with that but there is just so much more and better for the money,
I love these newer grip materials especially the glass filled nylon I think that's what it's called,
They really look nice,
And this kimber is sweet looking the slide looks amazing I like the ejection port,
I just looks like a quality product,
The newer guns coming out just look amazing really finished well even more affordable ones,.
Glock is the most copied handgun in the world. Why do people like you feel the need to bash them?
@@arch3088 He didn't bash them. He made the observation that they should improve their product. Don't give me the, if it ain't broke line. Glock fan boys like yourself need to realize there are better options out there for the money. I carry a Glock when im on patrol. It's a good service gun. It's not my favorite. If they were innovative, instead of hashing out the same thing over and over, they would probably be my favorite. Nothing wrong with vanilla, but I like chocolate sauce on mine.
@@DS..69 To each their own.
If you shoot with ur left hand ur right support hands gonna block that ejection port is it not ? Seems like a dumb set up idk 🤷🏻♂️
I bought that red dot for my Hellcat. And mine is not a "shake and wake". It's always on, and automatically adjusts brightness.
Is this a better carry pistol than the Micro 9?
wish this was released before I wasted money on hellcat. The only gun i regret buying.
Not the first time I heard that.
Sold my hellcat last week. Im trying to decide between the shield plus or wait for this Kimber.
@@bblwarrantydepartment981 I'm sure. Springfield should be sued for releasing hellcat. it is unbelievably inaccurate. and the striker broke only after less than 200 shots. So I bought a P365X . Awesome accuracy.
@@Jeremysmith747 Wish I knew how to sell to a private party. but I would wait for this if it's not a vaporware for the next 4 months. forget shield plus. or get a P365X like I did.
Beautiful beautiful 💥😎
uhh, it's just a Springfield hellcat? right down to the 11/13 magazine
It’s probably a bettEr gun than that hello kitty gun
Great Review as always. Love this sootch's all review. Can someone here please tell me what size Torque Screwdriver Head I need to attach CTS-1550 to my Newly Purchased Kimber r7 Make?
When is it available to us?
Awesome video 💯👍🏻❤️🇸🇪🙋🏼♂️🐻🦅🇺🇲
